How to create a layered chippy paint affect using chalk paint.

  • In this week's tutorial, join me as I draw inspiration from the charming style of a French kitchen cupboard. With layers of chippy worn-out paint, this project started with a thick gloss paint and intriguing hand-painted designs that weren't quite my taste. However, the bones of this furniture piece were fantastic, just needing a neutralization of the garish pattern and a makeover that exudes authenticity and age. If you're curious about how I achieved this timeworn look using layered chippy paint, join me on my journey through the process. #FrenchKitchenCupboard #ChippyPaintTutorial #TimewornLook #DIYFurnitureMakeover#chalkpaint #anniesloanchalkpaint #diy #anniesloan #customcolor

Everything about this piece is my type of painted furniture I especially like. The process of creating a chippy, worn look is fascinating and easily fools the eye that it is an original authentic finish. So convincing and beautifully done. I love everything I've seen so far and hope there is lot's ahead to explore on your channel. Thank you for presenting your art for us to enjoy!

So glad I followed you, bc this video was recommended when you dropped it. I love the information you provide, going over the colors and textures. I have project furniture in the garage I need to tackle so the car can fit back in and I can enjoy the completed projects. I got some shattered veneere and your painted furniture is lovely enough to make the paint or reveneere a choice to contemplate. ... BTW you are quite easily understood, and the music still good at 1.5 speed, top notch quality at either speed. Well done Jonathon.

I am in absolute aww of your talent Sir..
I literally just purchased a Buffet that I spotted last year while shopping for a new sofa set but the price was way above what I wanted to pay, but as luck would have it I heard a radio announcement that the furniture store was closing that location and inventory was 60% off! I went there the next morning and it was still there..😍🙌 I recognized the details and It looks like it is from the same company the built your cabinet.. I cannot believe that you actually replicated the same finish that is on my new buffet, that looks like it was brought up from a shipwreck… I’m in love with it. I thoroughly enjoyed watching all of the amazing work that you put into bringing your piece back to its original finish. It is Stunning 😍 .

Jonathan!! What a Wowser!! Not too much of a grungie look person, but I do so Love this!! Love the green and wood showing thru! I like smooth grungie if that makes sense!? Have both dogs & cats and definitely don’t their hair getting caught in all the texture!! That color inside!! I’m loving!! Told ElegantUpgrades-Taryn, that not such a blue person. She asked why-1980’s blue with ducks!! I looked around my bedroom, I have lots of new blues-mostly background. Your staging was Beautiful with the sienna wall, terra cola planter with the white and the plant. Absolutely Lovely❤️🌿❤️Daughter bought me your Art Nouveau bird stencil (just had to have it)!! Saw you do a board with it with Annie Sloan (I think)-her daughter had a 5-6 piece stencil for a blue Jean jacket? Anyways, wanting to do that stencil on 1 wall of my 22 foot wall-looking at Art Nouveau colors, etc. Can you do a project with that stencil? With true Art Nouveau colors? My main color is going to be green!! Love you Shari g your Special Magic with all of us!!💓🌿💓

What I am loving about this in progress, is this lighter Paris grey and old white and the looseness of your application, leaves area in the textures that are slightly darker and they take on a life of their own, or, it's like laying in the grass looking up at the billowy clouds and seeing shapes that your imagination sees as little floral shapes and it's so beautiful.
