Best of luck to AJ. Never really got a chance once Quinn took over. Still, Djurisic was a guy that I thought could be a steal in the second round. I really hoped that the Hawks would come away from this draft with a big man with so many intriguing prospects in this draft. Oh well...
I am Serbian in my opinion Djurisic have great potential and it's very possible that he could be a steal of this year draft honestly I even like him more than Topic who is at this point more mature player and better playmaker but also very injury prone compared to the Djurisic who is more athletic + he can adapt easily to the NBA style and he is fast learner/good kiddo...
Looks like Quinn has a “type” of player he likes. Matthews, Vit, this guy, all similar players at a similar size. Especially when Atlanta’s need is post presence. I don’t know what they’re trying to do. These including the #1 pick are just pieces. Not one of them really adds anything the Hawks didn’t already have.
Size shooting Passing and defense is what we added with Vit Nikola and Zach as for Matthews he was on the roster before Quinn but ended up staying I wouldn't include him in a potential 8 man rotation he got a lot of burn due to injury and being redhot from 3 but at the end of the day he's on a very cheap contract and is replaceable they're adding more defense on a team that sorely needs it as for the center situation at the end of the day it's not great but it really isn't bad however I don't think Onyeka can be a full time center without getting banged up I think he is too small. They know they need to address the center position (Ayton Markannen Kessler Jonas Hartenstein) certainly seem like targets but it's not the end of the world if clint is starting next year and is dealt at the deadline or not at all regardless we likely move out the luxury tax.
@@koolsmoothfan I agree. Nothing in his player or coaching history says he’s winner. He had a decent team in Utah but I don’t remember any conference finals even.
@@humptydumpty1929 they drafted a player that plays the same position as Jalen Johnson so they’re gonna play him at SF because he’s skinny. The need for a center is more pressing. The Hawks can play with length teams like Boston, but can’t compete with big teams. Teams that have real bigs kill the Hawks. You had Drummond come off the bench and put up 20 and 20 against the Hawks. I’m not a big fan of Hunter. At a #4 pick he’s a bust, but I think he, especially when healthy gives you better production than CC does. Bruno even gave a better spark towards the end of the season than CC. They needed a big more than another skinny wing. He might be fine, just not what they really needed. Like when the Hawks took Marvin Williams when they needed a point and Chris Paul was there.
@@atlnla4112 Bruno’s fine especially on his contract and whatnot but please do not get that confused with him being a starter level big he’s a backup we pretty much agree on everything else the hawks need a center but Clint Capela still would start on most nba teams and his contract expires next year he probably will be dealt but even if he’s not 1 more year of Clint capela won’t be the reason the hawks didn’t make the playoffs. Zach’s not a pf he was never going to be a Pf and he certainly doesn’t play like one he’s much more of a 2 than 4 he himself said he wants to be like Klay and grew up watching Kd. Honestly this should be the year Onyeka finally starts and Clint comes off the bench but who knows free agency begins on Sunday so the hawks will likely address it.
@@HighlightReelFactory yep and Gobert was a centerpiece of the Jazz. Not saying Kessler will be an offensive force, but like I said I doubt the Jazz trade him.
I think the Hawks had a Great Draft! Djurisic average 14ppg for his club in Europe.. Averaged 10ppg in Draft combine in 2 games despite playing limited minutes in game one..Very athletic on his highlight tape..legit 6'8 average over 1 spg last season..better athlete and player than AJ Griffin..
Hoping if there is anyone within the ATL Hawks management that have some instrest in winning, sign available free agent bigs 6'11 James Wiseman and 7'0 Neemias Queta.
What should a Rocket's fan expect from AJ? Looks like he was solid his rookie year then last year had some issues off the court and dealt with some injuries?
That makes no sense haha, Griffin might have been drafted in the first round but he never lived up to his potential here. That's like saying the Joker would only be valued as a second round pick if he were traded because that's when he was drafted... Ignoring that he's been amazing and multiple MVPs
Atlanta Hawks Head Coach and GM, Quinn Snyder & Lundy Fields, will both also have a change of scenery, in two years, if the Atlanta Hawks is at least not a second round playoff team.
I was mad that we traded AJ for a second round picks thought he could’ve been a tempting young player in a trade package for a good vet but when i look at the trade as AJ for Nikola and not AJ for a second round pick I feel comfortable with it. I will say this, Feels like Trae wanting out has either already been expressed or it’s coming soon. The hawks are doing the right thing and trying to build a team and fill out the roster instead of throwing away the future for a microwave situation. I actually think this is the right decision I just wish Trae would give it 3 years to come to fruition. While I believe getting Trae a 7ft PnR rim running center with size, length, and defense is the piece we need to optimize Trae Young it wasn’t our biggest need. The skill set of the guys between the 1 & 5 spot was seriously lacking. We’ve gotten bigger, more skilled, more depth, more feel, more versatility and more play making the last two years with playing JJ more, bringing in Vit again, and drafting Bufkin, Lundy, Gueye, Zach, And nikola. We really struggled to with those connective pieces and things have felt very disjointed because of that.
Great show Brad. Hoping for more content on ZR and Nikola in the future, and for some more moves that give us some clarity on the direction this team is going.
AJ lost his baby nephew in a accidental drowning accident early last year for those wondering about that mysterious lengthily personal absence and reports were that his dad was with his nephew at the time but unfortunately didn’t see him go into the pool
The hawks need Joel embid type...Trey cannot be only star..Championship teams have at least 3 stars..Anthony from Lakers would fit with trey..Too much pressure on Trey ..He isn't Iverson..We need a big man that's an all-star caliber...Anthony towns would fit..Or yeah bring back red velvet
Risacher won’t be a hawk in three years. The hawks are just historically bad at drafting, using the players they draft, over paying for players that don’t produce in free agency, and building around the wrong players. I’ve been a hawks fan since Dominique and some things never change. Also within 3 years the “two way wing” era will be over.
PREACH. I'm an Atlanta native, and the Hawks incompetent mangement has caused me to become an Atlanta Braves fan. Now that is a winning and competent organization.
Brad working overtime with everything going on😭😭

Nice to hear from someone with knowledge closer to Nikola. Not thinking it's a good trade though. Coulda traded Bruno for that pick.

I could pass or keep Bruno depending on depth, otherwise agree with Matthews and Vit. They hustle!

Did he ever say where AJ got Traded to?
he got traded to the Houston Rockets
We should have taken Zach Edey watch what he does…tired Capela already hit his ceiling can’t do nothing else but miss free throws
Is it just me or doesnt it seem like saddiq bey isnt really a hawks? he always slips my mind when I think about our roster
I think they did this to get under the Luxury Tax. Griffin salary is gone for a second round pick that we may not even sign.
Discussed on the show. It saves money but doesn’t get under the tax and saves less than $3 million

Ajs dad is also Adrian griffin sr who was fired early last year by the bucks
I guess they needed size and smaller salary? 🤷🏾♂️

AJ, CC and Bogdan are prime candidates to be traded, Landry needs to get this team more talent and stop waffling
Are we calling 6' 4" 2 guards wing players in today's nba.
No idea who this is referencing. Griffin is 6’6. Djurisic is 6’7
boycott tony ressler we need new ownership
