Huh? That MVP belonged to SGA. He checked every traditional box necessary. Consistent dominance (30+ a game), two-way ability (led league in steals), team success (one seed) and late game heroics throughout the regular season.

@@user-fh3wn9dy8c I'd personally give SGA the edge over Luka because of the team record. Leading a young unproven roster to a #1 seed in the West was unprecedented. Luka had Kyrie to take pressure off of him. Shai had a young Jdub to take pressure off him. You do the math on that one. Although, your case for Luka deserving last season's MVP is legitimate and respectable, nonetheless.

He is not American, that's the thing... If he was born in America, they wouldn't stop praising him. Same about Djokovic, literally the most acomplished tennis player of all time and possibly the greatest athlete of all time wasn't even in top 10 on ESPN's list and even he said that if he was American, they would elevate him to the sky with praising and all that stuff. It was always the case, media doesn't like none american players.

Great video! This has to be the most anticipated season coming up that I can remember. 07 was the last, with such expectations coming off the finals lost to Miami. Golden State punched us right in the mouth for thinking we were “already there”. Stay hungry and focused and hopefully with the recent trades/signings we can keep as best you can, a healthy Luka and Kai for the postseason.
I watched every mavs game this year and without donćič dallas would be a bottom seed. Robbed of MVP. And great video.

3rd leading scorer in NBA history (per game), 2nd leading playoff scorer in NBA history. Last year was the best team he ever played on with ONE all-star, one defensive specialist (who can't shoot), one 12ppg PF, and one center who couldn't shoot from more than 3 feet from the basket. With that he led the league in scoring, was 2nd in assists, and 12th in rebounds. He also led the playoffs in points/rebounds/assists/steals. He AVERAGED 29/9.5/8.1 in the playoffs on one leg, and the last series with bruised ribs. He is literally only comparable to Jordan and Wilt at this point of his career. I don't know if he'll get better or just more efficient (although I expect him to have his best season ever in assists with Thompson and Irving on the floor), but even if he stays at this level for 4 or 5 years you HAVE TO put him in the top 10 all time players and probably higher.....even with him being an average (at best) defender.

For those still saying the BS narrative that Luka has no defense. Luka’s actually "GOOD” at defense before the injuries piled up and got too much. If you watch Mavs Ball yk He was playing the best defense of his life this season and in the Clippers/OKC series that guys were 2/17 fg when guarded by Luka. All I can say to all Ignorants out there is that expect a focused and determined Healthy Luka at both defense & offense next season💯😤🫵

Jokic was MVP this year, it was extremely close battle, all Jokic, Shai and Luka were fantastic, but while Doncic averaged 8, 5more points than Jokic with more assists, Jokic averaged more rebounds, he had 9% higher FG% than Luka, he had better free throw % than Luka as a center... That means a lot, centers aren't supposed to have higher free throw % than guards and this are only basic stats. When we see advenced stats... It's not even close. Jokic kills both Shai and Luka. This season he was tied with Lebron's best +/- of his career (13,2) - 2nd best of all time after Jokic's 13,7 +/- in 2022, he had easily higher per than Luka, he led the league in winshares, triple doubles, became only player in history to be in top 10 in total points, rebounds, assists and steals. His Denver team was tied first in western conference with OKC but Jokic was statisticly better than Shai while Dallas were 4th in western conference. So no matter which formula you use, stats or winning, Jokic comes on top in 2024. And I'm big Luka's fan, Luka is my favourite player in the league, but maybe this season he will be MVP. Last season it was Jokic and decition was clear.
Can’t have 2 other players as mvp favourites when both teams didn’t even win western conference… mvp should include playoffs up until the finals at least. If you can’t bring yourself and the team to the western conference finals how valuable are you? Mvp players bring their team to higher levels with them
The mvp is only a regular season award so it wouldn’t really make sense for it to include the playoffs as well

Well the Celtics were overall a better team in the finals against the Mavs and the Mavs were outmatched since the Celtics had better defenders, 3 pts shooters, and a utility player they had in Jrue Holiday. I think the Mavs are more prepared to make a run back to the finals and possibly win this time thanks to the additions of Quentin Grimes, Naji Marshall, Klay Thompson, and Spencer Dinwiddie. Just have to wait and see how the season goes.

You crazy. Luka's the only one that showed up in the Finals. They could have easily won if the "others" were better. Luka was essentially playing 5v1 because his teammates (including Kyrie) were getting locked down and/or just bricking their shots, AND HE WAS PLAYING THROUGH MULTIPLE INJURIES.
The Mavs were one of the best teams in the league since they finally got decent role players around Luka (not even great, just "decent"), and they just got even better. Players that turned the Mavs to contenders last season like PJ and DJJ weren't even starters before they went to Dallas. Luka is just that good.
Luka is several levels above all those guys you named and will go down as the GOAT PG by the time his career's done. He does everything Magic did except his scoring is better (I don't count 3pt shooting since it wasn't that big of a thing back then. I don't really count "handles" either since the rules allow stuff today that wasn't allowed back then). Those names that you mentioned were all overrated af with the exception of T-Mac and VC.
