The funny thing is, after the release of Remember Us in Korea, Day6 have been trending there for like 3 days and hitting the charts 😅 I think there's also stats saying they have listeners up to 50 year olds haha
Here's a link to a MelOn trending chart I found on twitter(twitter.com/purpinksky/status/1072715538663563264 ), and you're right! The majority of people listening (or at least searching up their name) are in their 20s and 50s!
You're definitely not wrong about some fans being 50! My mom is 50 and she's been a big My Day since like 2016 LOL Even though there's 30 years between us, she and I both love their music! ❤ Day6 really does appeal to all ages! My mom says its because they remind her of a lot of European bands she listened to as a teen (and she is a hardcore Sungjin stan lmao)
i cried when i first heard the song and i have a feeling this is going to happen with me everytime day6 drop a track,, they’re too close to my heart now
Now if you listen closely, you'll hear Dowoon harmonizing in the background of the chorus Edit: Turns out Brian was the one harmonizing, not Dowoon, my mistake
Yes!! Have been waiting to hear y’all’s thoughts on this ever since it came out. :) Tbh as someone who isn’t super familiar with the 80’s vibe either, _at first_ it was kinda “meh” and didn’t stand out since it doesn’t have as much variation as their other title tracks. But the chorus melody got stuck in my head and as I kept coming back to listen to the song, it REALLY grew on me... Especially with how the chorus modulates back down from D-flat to B-flat - instead of modulating to a higher key like other songs, it goes LOWER, but since it’s the key that the song started in, you kind of feel like you’re arriving back home?? And even though the song is simpler, it makes it an easy listen that’s just straight-cut and good vibes :) Umu you mentioned on Twt how some songs just have addictive choruses, this is one of those songs for me! I just random urges to go back and play the *whole song again* and it’s rare for a song to affect me like that~ overall, definitely grew to appreciate the vibe of this comeback a lot more, DAY6 really crushes every genre they try :D
Being honest, the first time i listened to this i thought "so, this is gonna be the second D6 song that i pass (sometimes HiHello and i don't get on well xs)" but the more i listened to it, the more i liked it. Now, it is one of my favs of their whole disc. i would have never guessed that, for real. At first I was kinda bored with it but now it just- wow. it makes me sing and smile and soft and- I love it.
Actually K listeners loved this music rather than shoot me. My friends loved 'DGB' (they said this song makes they happy ) I'm so proud of 'Days gone by'
most of day6's softer kinds of soundtracks like you were beautiful, i smile, etc seems to be more popular amongst k listeners i feel? its their heavier rock sounds that tends to attract a lot more of the international fanbase (eg shoot me) but most of the time whenever i hear day6 being mentioned by korean reviewers or other idols they tend to mention more of their softer indie rock songs (but im also really proud of day6 and just seeing how much their sale numbers has increased just from this album- they've really done such a good job as usual :,) ))
@@bobbybelarae3559 absolutely agree! the beautiful thing is that, it all maintains their flavor in it, be it the softer-sounding songs or the heavier-sounding ones, they've all got that distinctive Day6 sound that we love them for!
agree or not but DAY6's new album is SO DAMN GOOD, they tried out different stuff with each tracks and ofc the results turned out really nice, unique and musically enriched. Days gone by is really different from their past songs and they pulled it off nicely Proud to be a MyDay thanks for the video!
You guys are back with Day6. 😍🍋 No Day6 comeback is complete without a ReacttotheK reaction. Hwaiting for the whole remember us youth part 2 ep. reaction. 😍😍😍
even for someone who doesn't listen to 80's rock, i really enjoyed it! they took a very different turn from their other songs but it's something you can bop to and feel happy about :")
this song is hands down my favourite title from them but that's totally due to the fact that 80s music is my favourite thing in the world jdfkhgkdjf i'm soooo happy we got this reaction so soon uwu
these are the only kind of reactors i appreciate, ones who actually are educated musically and really assess the song. reactors who sit there in silence and at the end say “wow that was a great song” bother me so much!! thank you guys sooo much for being so amazing.
This song grew on me after a day, and I had repeated it for only two three times. I was not as hooked to this song at the beginning, but then a while later I kept on singing the chorus, I can't get it out of my head. Now hearing this song makes me smile and sing along, its really beautiful !!
First of all, I really want to applaud them for never stopping to explore their abilities in writing and playing music and trying out new things. That's not an easy thing to do, so that's really admirable of them. Now what I think about it. I was... I don't know. First of all, Shoot Me is what made me actually became a fan of DAY6. And then I listened to their entire discography and found so many mind-blowingly good rock songs. So that's where my expectation placed with DAY6 releases, despite knowing that they did release many slow songs in the past. Before they release it, I did watch the teaser and listened to album sampler so I know that it's going to be a song with 80s sound. But the thing is, I'm not big about the 80s sound in general. It was something that was popular BEFORE I was born, and my parents (who was born in the 50s and 60s) weren't a big fan of it either so I didn't grow up listening to it. But I kept my mind open because Talking To was also a song with that kind of 70s/80s vibe to it and I like that song, so anything could happen. What I didn't expect is that how it's so consistent through and through to the point it felt a bit monotonous. And that's probably why I'm so neutral about this song. I don't dislike it, because I still listen to it and sing to it, but I can't say it's one of my favourite song of them. (That being said, the chorus stuck in my head after several listens so I've been singing the chorus part without realising. Hahaha.) And that alone, is the reason why for me personally, Youth Part 1 is the better album overall, despite me loving the rest of the sidetrack in Youth Part 2. Youth Part 1 was so mind-blowingly perfect for me, from the way the title track pushed me to actually listen to DAY6 entire discography, to how every single song is great on their own way and none of them sound the same. So yeah, my verdict is that I'm neutral about Days Gone By, I like the album, I love the rest of the sidetracks, and in the end, Youth Part 1 is still the better album for me personally.
I didn’t grow up with 80’s music either, but I’ve always loved that sound, especially the old school synths they used to use. While I can see this song being considered monotonous, I personally love it. Probably my #1 Day6 song in general, not just title tracks.
It really is quite different than their other title tracks but the thing I find most awesome about this song is how joyful and glad it makes me feel. Granted some of their other songs were somewhat like this as well but this song really makes me move my body. It makes me bop my head and my shoulders/body left and right and I have such a big smile on my face while listening to it. It really makes me feel so happy.
I'm a very huge fan of 80s music and damn the accuracy the put into this song is absolutely amazing. It's not just some ‘80s inspiration’ song, the song itself is what 80s music is. For some reason, I get suuuper emotional every time I listen to the song as it brings so much nostalgic feelings during those era. Absolutely 100% authentic 80s music I would say. - and no I haven't even born during the era, but I just look up to and do a whole lot of research on the era so that's that, I'm just a grandma at heart 😔✨
Finally! I’ve been waiting for this, thank your for the video! Anyway i’m gonna wait for your day6 album review cuz man, imma gonna tell you, all the songs in Remember Us album is SOOO GOOD SO YOU GOTTA LISTEN TO IT. Thank you!!
So what you're saying is I should show this to my mom, a Duran Duran stan, (I agree with Umu here that its a little bland and didnt hit me right away, but it does grow on you ~)
Yay your finals are over!! Well done and thanks for uploading this reaction. I had the same 'meh' response to Days Gone By because the rest of the songs are a lot more interesting. But Days Gone By has a nice bass part, good drums and i love the backing vocals
I agree that its not like super dynamic and I was totally surprised by the direction they took, but it is one of those songs that grows more on you as you listen to it! Maybe its because it was finals week at my university too but I found the chillness of this song to be kind of relaxing in the midst of finals chaos LOL its become one of my favorite Day6 tracks and one of the favs from the album with Marathon, Hurt Road and So Cool (what a trip that song is lmao) And as a past listener to 80's band music, I'm really impressed with how authentic they made it (and the MV too, MV of the year). Hope it grows on you Umu, and even if it doesn't, the album has such variety I'm sure you'll love some other songs on it ❤ thanks for your reaction guys!!
I totally support the notion this is a retro 80's track and used to listen to songs like Days Gone By in countless arcades back in the day. In case I need inspiration while playing games today I keep an 80's playlist on my phone and this would be welcome addition to it..
When I first heard this song, I was like "it's okay, I don't know if I love it though?" but no, after listening to it a few more times I do love it :D I really liked the synth right off the bat anyway and the 80's sound is great. This is one of the analyses-are-not-applicable song. Like those in 80s or 90s. You can't tell there're any 'explosive' elements added to the song, but it is amazing as a whole. The authentic vibe that songs are lacking of nowadays. Rather than talking about how stylish they can be, they're singing from their heart and mind. It's all about the vibe. So magical that you don't mind repeating it all day :)
Well normally I like complicated melodies but sometimes if the song is good enough as it is I don't want it to be complicated. I really love this song a lot because its such a simple retro song that sounds 80s but still sounds like kpop. Its calm, catchy and fun, which is sometimes all I want to listen to. I've listened to this song a million times over the past month or so along with some out-there music on my playlist which is the opposite of this song in its predictability, and I still enjoy it the same.
The funny thing is, after the release of Remember Us in Korea, Day6 have been trending there for like 3 days and hitting the charts 😅 I think there's also stats saying they have listeners up to 50 year olds haha

Wow I just realized it lol
I am one 50 yo fan ! I discovered them like 1 year ago and love them!
It's because their songs are more relatable to older audiences tbh.
As a non musical person, i never expected this song would compared to chewing gum. LOL
GNCD hyung as a musical person, I still didn’t expect it 😂
Actually I also kept thinking about chewing gum the first time I listened the song Lol but it was just for a few seconds
Only at the very begining and the prechorus sounds like chewing gum
Reminds me more of Chocolate and OST they did for a drama
Same
I grew up through the 80s. This song has massive 80s vibes, massive. Everything about it makes me feel nostalgic.
Yes another run in with older my day!!!!
Same. This is such a nostalgic, feel good sound.
Late 80s vibe..
Took me back to those times..
did you know Young K wrote the lyrics for the entire album?!

Omg I thought you said bad xD I was about to have a heart attack 😅😂🤣
Kevin said exactly the same things PD said. It's kinda scary... Even the prom thing!
I'm kind of glad they did, because that reinforces how well the filmmakers did with the concept
where'd you get the PD's comment? i'd like to see the whole thing so please link it :'D

Is no one going to mention that Jae's lines on the verses sound like Africa? I love it.
Wow...you're right. I didn't make the connection before but it does sound similar!
I definitely hear Toto Africa in this song!!
haha i knew i wasnt the only one
You right, and the Wonpil has lines that sound like a song I can't remember the name to
Now if you listen closely, you'll hear Dowoon harmonizing in the background of the chorus
Edit: Turns out Brian was the one harmonizing, not Dowoon, my mistake
yeah its great
It was actually Young K, here you can here him clearly mobile.twitter.com/day6ah/status/1074879819094024192

this was the song that got me into day6! i love 80s style music and the 1975 so as soon as i heard it, i knew i had to check them out :)
I think the consistency of the beat/instrumental arrangement works well with the lyrical theme of closure!
MyDays and some casual listeners really REALLY LOVE THIS GENRE Especially the direction of the album! DAY6 just made another league of bops.
a lot Kevin :) they have two dramas that were focused on the 80s then the 90s #reply1988 both were big hits
finally! please do the whole album!
I love how it sounds like an ost of a kdrama
