Hi everyone! I wanted to add on to one of my husband's tips for success in an English-speaking country. He emphasized the importance of spending time with native speakers. I'd say that what's key is exposure and immersion. You can still have exposure to the language on your own through films, social media, songs, etc. You can also spend time in the company of other non-native speakers who are comfortable speaking English and/or whose first language is not the same as yours. My advice is to open yourself up to opportunities to practice your English. Some of you may also have questions about the salary of an entry-level job in the U.S. Keep in mind that gross earnings are always higher than what you actually receive. After taxes and other deductions, your paycheck can seem much smaller! The cost of living can also be high when you factor in mandatory car insurance, utilities, co-payments at doctors' offices, and other common expenses. Starting out isn't easy, but with determination and patience, you can learn to make a decent living.
Thank you Jennifer ! thanks for your sharing. I know it can be hard to start a new life in a new country. I got a lot of encouragement form your video. I tell myself not to give up and to keep moving on! thank both of you ❤️
Your husband is example to others. I learned a lot throughout your videos and keep going to take us to the next level. All the best to you and your family.
Miss Jennifer, this vedio is very inspiring. You husband's struggle for finding best job is great. He has given very useful tips for the non-native speakers to take his English to next level. Well done guys.
Hi Tahir. I'm happy his story can inspire others. Indeed, it's been a struggle, but he's been strong. Suggested wroding: He has given very useful tips for non-native speakers who want to take their English to the next level.
Can't imagine that you and your husband had gone through those past hardship, and I admire your resilience and perseverance. Now persistance pays off finally. Better luck lies ahead for your family 🌹😊.
The recording inspire more people including me. Live is not easy, and you are brave. Jennifer good job! Many thanks your husband. I appreciate your help. ☺️👍
I have been following this story and I have to say, the life it's not easy for those who go after for your dreams. Congratulations to you and your husband.
Thank you Jennifer for sharing a very inspiring lesson.Your husband is a laborious person. He had never given up when he was going through financial hardship. We should not go after money, just keep working good job, ultimately one day we will succeed. This shows success does not come overnight without hard work.
Well, money was certainly a source of motivation for him, but there were other goals he set out to attain, like proficiency in the language. Yes, I agree with the conclusion here: success doesn't come overnight. Thanks for the support, Saddam!
Hi Jennifer, this is a great video from many different perspectives! First, it's like listening to you and your husband's life story from the bottom of your heart which is quite touching and inspiring. I have to say that my eyes were watering a lot. :) Being the head of household, he definitely did his best. He's got my respect. His career path alone was quite amazing which tells us there is no shortcuts to your dream job or to any other ultimate goals in your life. His English learning experience can definitely set him as a role model for us learners here. As for myself, I will try to talk at a slower pace when we meet through Skype in the future. ;) Hopefully I will keep doing this in my daily life. Many thanks to you and your husband for the great effort you guys put into this video. Best wishes, Rachel
Hi Rachel. Each person will create his/her own path. I should have also clarified that success is defined by each individual. It doesn't necessarily have to tie into financial compensation, right? Still, I wanted his story to emphasize that that whatever path you choose, it's not going to be easy. As for the language, you're doing wonderfully. Keep your goals in sight and we'll work together towards them. :)
It’s not easy for a middle class family to make both ends meet these days. Only people having strong determination can survive the difficult situations. We shouldn’t give up hope at any cost. Let’s hope that new opportunities will be opened and a bright future is waiting for us. Congratulations for sharing your true (success) story. Of course, there is a woman behind every successful man.
Oh it's easy to give up...at least temporarily. :) Then we dig down to find more strength and get back up. Yes, I wish you and all who watched this video a bright future!
Hello Jeniifer, Putting food on the table every day isn't an easy task even when you live in your homeland. I could imagine how difficult it would be living in a foreign country. As you've said, success mostly depends on being patient and persevering. You know that on the way there'll be highs and lows, but with a positive attitude you'll probably achieve your goals. When your husband makes mention of taking the language to the next level I'm sure he got it well. I mean, he was learnt by a superb teacher! Very interesting interview with lots of content and useful expressions. Thanks to you and your husband for taking the time to do it. All the best.
Hi Claire. Thank you for watching the interview and recycling all the useful expressions! I appreciate your kind support too. Thanks a lot. :) Small corrections: Better to say, "I'm sure he did it well" or "I'm sure he succeeded." Then you can say, "He was taught by a superb teacher." Take care.
JenniferESL Hi teacher, thanks for the feedback. My mind can be pretty tricky sometimes! Of course I should have said, he did it well, he was taught by a superb teacher. By the way, your lessons are a must for me. There is always something new and interesting to learn with you. Have a nice weekend :-) 🌹
I consider your journey success can definitely set you as a role model for me, not just in English language experience but in all my whole life ultimate goals i am struggling to perform and achieve it thank you so much to you and to your great husband for the great effort
Thank you for posting kind words of support. We're all on a journey, and we're all facing a series of challenges along the way. It's encouraging to know there are people who wish you well. I wish you strength and inspiration! I hope you achieve the goals you've set. :)
Your lovely husband was kind enough to share the experiences he's had with his language learning and finding a good job. This video should open the eyes of those who might think success comes easily. Jennifer and her husband's perseverance is appreciable and must stir us all and get us ready for the challenges that life throws our way. God bless you both. Stay blessed.
I wish you much success. We all have to start somewhere. :) Learn and prove what you're capable of. Hopefully, it won't be long before you leave that entry-level position and find something more rewarding in all ways!
Your husband is really smart guy, not only in looking aspect but also as a responsible human being . They say , you start looking great while taking responsibilities. Your whole family looks very cool in nature . As I said , with English, I learn many other quality things from you. Today one more is added that is the most important in life , Family values . Major credit goes to woman who always stands behind her husband in struggling time . Can I refer your family as "Global culture "?
Thank you, Kishor. No family is without their struggles, but we've managed to overcome most of the challenges along our path. :) If you're referring to him being Russian and me being American, then you can say we're in an intercultural marriage. Our children's grandparents are spread out: the U.S., the Philippines, and Russia.

I can't tell you how many nights we ate hot dogs or cheap fish with rice in Moscow. Lunch was often a small roll of bread. I think it's good for people to experience hard times. Then you can really appreciate luxuries when you can finally afford them. I take pleasure in driving a nice car now, but I still remember the first car we owned together. It was close to 13 years old. We kept trying to repair it, but then we finally had to let it go. I wish you strength, good health, and much success!
What a coincidence, I also dream to marry a Russian woman. But I haven't got a chance yet to meet one lady from there. God bless you both. His pronunciation is perfect for my ear. Few years ago I heard a voice inside my mind saying that my future wife was in Russia. Maybe she will be Russian, maybe she will be living in Russia, but is from other country. I found beautiful women in all countries, but it is been so difficult to meet her personally or even by chat. This is a dream that I keep burning into my heart, because my real intention is to create a huge family ordained by God in Jesus Christ. The nationality is not important indeed if She is one of the daughters if God....

Every job market has its challenges. No one should come to the U.S. thinking it's easy to build a life and make lots of money, but if you're realistic about your goals and you're willing to put in the hours (days, years) to achieve those goals, then success is attainable.
