I decided to upgrade to a Google Pixel 7 and figured I would see how well it handles video game emulation. It seems to run a lot of GameCube and Wii games pretty well at 2x resolution, which actually looks really nice and crisp on the phone's display.
For GameCube games, I am using a real GameCube controller connected to my phone via an OEM Wii U GameCube controller adapter (I use a USB hub that connects to the phone via a USB C to A adapter... the adapter the phone comes with works fine).
For Wii games, I use a real Wii remote / nunchuck connected to my phone via a Mayflash DolphinBar (requires a USB C to A adapter... the one the phone comes with works fine).
I am using the phone's built-in video screen recorder. Note that it can have a small impact on performance, so if a game appears slightly jerky but the FPS remains solid, it typically plays smooth as butter on the phone when not recording.

Here's another first party Nintendo game that I never think of as being first party. It starts out working great on my Pixel 7 phone by running at full speed during game action, but replays drop the fps in the 40s for whatever reason. After 5-6 mins Dolphin crashed with a "Failed to submit command buffer: VK_ERROR_DEVICE_LOST (-4)" error. The screen also has this bobbing/slight shaking effect that you don't typically see with GameCube game (much more so with PS2 games and the way that system handles interlacing). Anyhow, hopefully not many more Dolphin issues in the future, but clearly not everything runs perfectly and I wanted to showcase that.
