Just check in as close to 24hrs prior to your flight as possible. Two free checked bags? What other airline lets you check even one bag for free? Their on time performance is generally very good, and frequency of flights is another great perk of Southwest. Lastly... they are flying to Hawaii now! Aloha!!

I flew them a lot when I had a brief stint working there. The job wasn’t for me but I liked the vibe flying them. I wouldn’t mind paying for them. The seats on the 800s and MAXs are just god-tier for economy seats.

SOUTHWEST is worth it! just make sure to check in ASAP! 24 hours right before the flight time.... honestly worth it! and their rewards NEVER EXPIRE! idk what other airliner also does that! on top of FREE check in BAGS! ETC! your money goes a longgg way! Also the 737-800 is a huge improvement! especially if its a MAX model too!
But my family is scattered in Utah, Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Flying on an airline that offers fast turnaround and point to point service is the only way to cross that distance in a reasonable amount of time.
Southwest is not a small low cost carrier they are the largest domestic carrier by far. They do not offer extreme luxury wine and dine but they are usually on time. They are usually more expensive last minute than united or American but you can usually get a seat. I am not a luxury traveler I want to get to places in a reasonable amount of time. Southwest does that really well.
Another thing. Southwest has full fare tickets the boarding pass has Y printed on it. The reason they are full fare is because we pay for the cost of running the jet. The discounted fare tickets are extra. I got into it with a husband wife team at love field. The weather was getting bad so I got on the earlier flight I had a full fare ticket. They called the cops on me. The woman at the gate told them they accommodate full fare ticket holders because we are funding the flight
Southwest is worth it when I book business select so I can sit towards the front of the plane. And tons of rapid reward credit with two free checked bags :)
