Prof. Very nice to see you Sound and safe . Your message is timely and fairly strong . I hope you somehow manage to let it be heard by the U.S Officials! After ages I can see how hypocrates they are and what kind of double standard they have! As Ethiopians suffered for 27 years, these people gave us deaf ears and blind eyes. Now when Ethiopians are free from the devil, all of a sudden these people try to tell us rubbish! Prof. am proud of you.
Professor, you are amusing! I do not want to see you get old. አንተ የ ኢትዮጵያውያን እንቁ! It will take a generation to have one professor like you! I admire every piece of your work!
I agree with you and your impassioned call to action and resolve is timely. Thank you for your counsel and encouragement. For those who are living in the states what are some actionable next steps?
I have always liked your teachings and thoughts on things. I am grateful we have such a loving and wise father like you. I am a bit in different on your video here today. I think what the USA is saying, we are giving you money please dont use it to kill people out there. Don't you think they have the right to withhold their money? I personally have a choice on what I would like to do with my money and so does the USA right? In regards to Americans killing Black, yes they have and I have also been a victim a lot of times. I have been stopped by a traffic police more than once and asked if I am in probation (which I am sure they do not check that on other fellow American with different skin), I have been escorted out of the university my Mom teaches just because I am black (I was actually told I dont belong there since its private university and I cant afford it...well documented btw). A police asked me if I am breaking in to my own house just because its in 'rich white neighborhood' and so on....yes there is racial segregation here...but they are working on it arent they?...and this takes time...it could have been already solved but tha'ts another discussion. its much better than what we had 10-20 years ago no? We the diaspora should stop comparing Ethiopia and America. I am sure Professor Worku definitely know how behind we are from the rest of the world in regards of basic human right, democracy, technology, education,....just bluntly mentioning American still abuse blacks can not justify what is going on in Ethiopia!!!! I work in technology field and I am telling you we are light years behind. I personally love my origin, Ethiopia but I can not deny the fact we are behind. killing in America does not justify the mass killing in Ethiopia. we need to feel the pain of the Tigray people as they are our people. It shouldn't have come from America to tell us to stop killing or have Eritrean soldiers leave the region... In summary, I would love it if professor can really address this. We are behind people, we need to work hard change things.....stop the blame on America or others.... we take the blame and we need to change the narrative of our Ethiopia. Professor Worku, you have the platform, what will you do?
Hello there. Thanks for taking time to express your views on my post. I agree with you completely that absolutely nobody has a right to hurt or mistreat innocent people anywhere. Combatants choose to fight against each other, but innocent people should not be targeted as collateral damage or be considered guilty by association. I am heartsick about the crimes committed against innocent people all over Ethiopia. It is not right, no matter what ethnic group does it. This has happened for far too long and it has to stop! The American government picks and chooses when it targets governments. America did not lift a finger when the TPLF murdered, tortured, and jailed innocent people for 27 years. It did not do anything when the TPLF and its cronies looted Ethiopia with a vengence. Obama went to Ethiopia and shamelessly declared that the TPLF was a democratically elected government. Give me a break. Why the double standard? You are right again. They have a right to withhold their money. But why didn't they do that before? The fact is that there is a hidden agenda here, and it is self interest. American foreign policy is guided by economic and national security matters. If you want to chat further, please call me at 707-965-3659. Thanks again.
@@adugnawworku3615 What a great response. I was certain your response will clear out some of the misunderstanding and misconception I had posing the question first place. Yes, I agree on the fact the U.S did not condemn the atrocities by TPLF. I assume it is mainly due to the fact it will essentially benefit them in one way or another. However, I am sure any country would do so, don't you think? as you mentioned their foreign policy is guided by the later mentioned interests (economic and national security matters). Yet again, people are dying in Ethiopia in alarming rate. I dont know about others but I would not feel safe walking in the CAPITAL ADDIS ABABA. I believe things have gotten worse from what it used to be. Would you feel safe taking a walk in Addis Ababa let alone Tigray? Basically, if government could not secure peace within its people, what is the point of having one? for them its economical maters for us its peace and stability. Anyway, I will try to call and have you enlighten me more on this matter. It has been always great to learn and know more :)
@@gooddeed581 First, let commend you on the name you have chosen. "Good Deed" is an honorable nickname or real name for that matter. I am assuming that you are that kind of person. If so, keep up the good deed. Let me briefly respond to your message above. Yes, every government engages in self-interest. The problem with super powers is that they view themselves as the world's cope, and they muddle in the internal affairs of other countries. Might is not right. Every nation should abide by international law, no matter how big or small they are. With regards to safety in Ethiopia in general and Addis Ababa in particular, you and I have no disagreement. There is relative freedom in Ethiopia right now more than before, but people are abusing it. Freedom without responsibility is anarchy, and that is what is going on there. Hopefully, the current government or its replacement can restore peace by enforcing law and order. It is a delicate balance to maintain freedom and responsibility, but it must be done. The current waves of crimes against innocent people are simply deplorable, and they must stop. Take care my friend.
