Great review. Just what I was looking for. Even lighter than the Hyperlite backpack, according to the specs. And since I use a for Ferrino raincape which covers both me and my backpack I don’t need the waterproof feature. Thanks, will get this backpack.
It’s very hard to make a pack completely water proof because of the number of seams that would need to be taped in addition to the abuse backpacks undergo. Most people use a pack liner like a trash compactor bag inside to keep everything dry.
With the extra side pockets and chest strap pockets, I honestly don't feel they are needed. My other pack is an Osprey Talon 44 so I definitely am accustomed to hip belt pockets
The Zerk is only a few ounces lighter than the Gossamer Gear Mariposa, but the Zerk has far less carrying capacity, versatility, and accessories. The Zerk seems to be more for people who only want a 10lb pack. In that case, a regular school backpack would work just fine
The Mariposa is a great pack; Don't get me wrong, I loved it when I tried it. But the way the Zerk hugs your chest, water bottles sit up front to balance the load, often $100+ cheaper than the Mariposa, accessibility to pockets, excellent quality of materials and construction, etc.... Well, it's a great pack. I wouldn't write it off based solely on a few ounces
Also, I would note the Zerk actually carries heavier loads (20-40 lb) much better than the Mariposa in my opinion. That was super unexpected as it is essentially a frameless pack if you don't count the removable backpad. Maybe that's why I like it so much

Nice pack!
Hiking Viking is a cool name.
Would love to grab one but with duty and tax it pushes it above the budget for a mid range pack.
Haha feel the same way about the ferrino agile from the other side of the sea
We’re should you put your weed
Nice channel!
why isnt it waterproof?
