Karen Lancaster and Jonathan Rosen as Widow Corney and Mr Bumble in Impact Theatre's 2008 production of Lionel Bart's "Oliver!" directed by Amanda Noar.
This is the best cover version I've found, so far. I always loved the original London Cast recording, with Hope Jackman and Paul Whitsun-Jones doing these parts. Most of the other covers don't do her role anywhere near as well, they literally scream rather than sing the high notes operatically, and aren't very good with the accents (Widow Corney absolutely needs a haughty down the nose accent). I was always disappointed the movie of the musical dropped this song, along with That's Your Funeral.
Very well done, and as I was in the chorus of the 1960 London production (I was 13) I am quite a good judge.,it would be nice to see the complete Oliver by this company!
i hope i can play the part as widow corney just as well, i want to make my part comedy like, and this is a good way of me learning i love it :D ad seein as my frend has the part of mr bumble it shud be rly good coz he is great at comedy :P wish me luck
@Princesscheeseyfeet LOL i performed a few weeks ago and BOOM !! went great :) and we werent aloud cause the younger people had to be Oliver or dodger soooo :D
I got this role instead of Nancy (which I would have sold my soul for) basically because they had no one else who could carry off the character and do the high notes well enough. So I'm too.. good? To be the main role ? I'm very confused.
@Dramatiquegemma So have I :( I personally hate the character, screeching mess :( Of course I was dying for Nancy but the director said she cast the other girl as her as she was "a stronger singer" to which I replied why have you given me the character with the more challenging song then, she had nothing to say....
Fantastic! Karen Lancaster has such an amazing voice!
ha ha i was just casted as widow Corney and my boyfriend was casted as Mr. Bumble..... YEAH!
Haha I'm mrs corney in this ! Me and mr bumble are good friends and this is working brilliant, such fun to play too

This is the best performance of this lovable song , brilliant comedy , singing, acting, characterisation.
My sister Rhoda Poor 17 sang this her senior year in High School CHS in San Diego, CA Clairemont.
Brilliant comedy and brilliant characterisation.
This is a great interpretation!
