      Hi Tony, we have an inch or two of snow here in West Sussex, I think we got off lightly. I enjoyed editing this video, allowing me to re-live this excellent tour, I'd forgotten just how beautiful the former Yugoslavia was and it is not that far away.

      Nice. I was also wondering where you live (if that’s not too personal) and when you could come to Georgia, USA and make a video. It would be awesome. I live near Atlanta and I think it’d be cool to do

      Hi, I live in West Sussex, England. I travel two or three times a year to film trains, the rest of the time I work to pay for the trips. I enjoyed visiting Colorado and will return to see more of the USA, but I am not sure when as I have booked my trips for this year. I still have more video taken in the Denver area to edit and upload as time permits.

    Geez, that gauge WAS narrow! The Ravenglass-Eskdale light rail could've easily run on those lines! Great video, Tim!

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Neil, at 760 mm (2 ft 5 15⁄16 in) it is a little wider than the 15 inch gauge Ravenglass & Eskdale, but still a narrow gauge railway. This restored line is part of a once extensive network that ran through stunning scenery serving most areas of the former Yugoslavia. It is good that this railway has been restored, otherwise the complete network would have been consigned to history.

    • @neilforbes416
      @neilforbes416 6 лет назад +1

      Once again depth perception on a computer screen deceives me. Seeing the width of the tracks and remembering a video of the Ravenglass-Eskdale system, I took the to be a similar width. Cheers, Tim.

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  6 лет назад +1

      Sometimes people stretch old cine film or video to fit a wide screen, that can be confusing.

    • @neilforbes416
      @neilforbes416 6 лет назад +1

      Actually, I've been explaining aspect ratios on a different thread but seeing it's come up here as well, There's the case where some do simply s - t - r - e - t - c - h the image out to fit the wide screen but all that does is make any people in the shot look like they've been raiding the refrigerator a bit too often. The software I use is Cyberlink Power Director, which incorporates what Cyberlink calls their CLPV system which can convert 4:3 into 16:9 without making anyone look like they've been overdoing the buffet visits...LOL Cheers, Tim!

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Neil, some of us don't need stretched video to look like we've raided the fridge, it's just a natural gift.

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  4 года назад

      This line runs through awesome scenery, it does cross the border into Bosnia and Herzegovina, we were meant to travel the full length of the restored section from Višegrad to Šargan Vitasi and Mokra Gora, on this occasion we were only able to travel along the Serbian section to the border. There were plans to open more of the line to enable tourists to access some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe, sadly it has not happened yet, the tourist potential is enormous should the two countries ever work as on to promote the area.

    From Visegrad (Uptown) to Mokra Gora (Wet Mountains) train-ride wasn't meant to be but watching the Sargan Eight Railway journey again was lovely. Nice to see that the surrounding hills were not stripped of foliage and trees. 🌲💚🌳
    Thanks for sharing Tim. 🤩🚂👍

      This railway runs through a very pretty part of the world and the railway was proving popular with tourists, although I don't know how badly Covid has hit tourist numbers to the area. I hope it survives as it is the last part of the old narrow gauge network.

    As a Serbian, it's sad to see that my country is lazy to restore more steam trains for mkre tourist attractions

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  6 месяцев назад +1

      Serbia is a beautiful country that was once home to an extensive network of narrow gauge railways, as a tourist I'd visit more often if there were more heritage type railways to visit. The Welsh tourist industry benefits enormously from the presents of a healthy heritage railway scene, I see no reason why a country like Serbia cannot attract tourists in the same way.

    Is the narrow gauge steam engine coal fired or oil? I ask because of the blue haze rather than black or grey when working up a hill.

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  6 лет назад

      I can see coal in the tender in some views, so I'm going to stick my neck out a say it is coal fired.

    • @johnbastille5483
      @johnbastille5483 6 лет назад

      I think I just answered my own question, going back to 12:15. Coal! (Unless that is a false cover (unlikely) to make it appear periodically authentic.)

      I love watching Brazilian football, so much passion and skill. In England players lack passion, their lives are too easy, money is their god, many Brazilian players came from tough neighbourhoods, they have known hard times and they play with their hearts on their sleeves, they don't just play football, they love football, its in their blood. I would love to see an England, Brazil final, maybe dreams do come true. When English children start kicking a ball in the streets, practising their ball skills, instead of eating McDonald's and playing computer games, maybe, just maybe we will once again produce a world cup winning team. I live in hope.

    Hello Tim, once again the question arises, why can the peoples of Balkan not live together peacefully in this magnificent landscape? Why are they whipped up by warmongers instead ignoring them? - Heinz

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  6 лет назад +3

      Hello Heinz, the countries that made up the former Yugoslavia have got everything, amazing scenery, fertile soil, good weather, if lived there I'd be happy and grateful to live in such a wonderful place, fighting would be the last thing on my mind - Tim.

      @@Timsvideochannel1 Hello Tim, I live on Zlatibor , 20 km from Sargan, I traveled last week by foot down the river ,and than down the railroad to Mokra Gora. Reason there is so much tension is that warmongers and other scum only can grab money and wealth if it's chaos and they're everywhere , some people are so poor that they propagate their propaganda for even sandwiches and sugar and some other stuff. It's hard , very hard. After 2000 things seem to change but only for a bit,and now the same gang who is responsible for chaos in the 90's is on power again. We common folks can't do much, elections are crooked , mafia controls every aspect of our society and only way to live normally is , seems , to go abroad and left all of this behind.

      @@justanothervagabond5346 Hi, I was sad to read your comment, I thought British politicians were bad enough, their indecision is putting Britain in a bad place at the moment. You live in such a beautiful part of the world, I only know what I saw, so much tourist potential, if that is what the local people want. It was the only part of this tour of the former Yugoslavia where I did not get to chat with local people, I did not realise there was tension in the community. On another recent tour I did meet people who had left Serbia for a new life in New Zealand, they loved the outdoor life and opportunities available. It is not right that people should have to leave the places they love because of the actions of a small number of people. I hope you find a solution and wish you luck in the future.
