@@RMetsy since Disney owns the rights to Simpsons now universal will have to retheme that area of the park whenever the Simpsons contract ends. Disney definitely won't renew that contract because they are competitors and Disney might want to move Simpsons to Disney world.
It was open at the end of November when I was there. I heard a week of two later as it got closer to Christmas that they had to stop admitting people because the attendance was too high. Maybe they closed after that?

Heads up Disney owns the Simpsons now. The Simpsons land's days at universal are numbered, so I'd try and visit sooner rather than later.

The Theme Park Was Temporarily Closed Due To Coronavirus; The City Walk Is Open but not worth spending hours there (If You Live In California)
