The voice you heard comes from one naturally gifted but is only possible through years of dedicated training under the supervision of outstanding teachers. His mother is an opera singer, his father a pop star/music producer and he started extensive formal musical training at age 5 on instruments and vocals. He has said that his vocal chords are longer than usual and when the "voice change" happened he didn't lose his high notes but just extended his lower range. As a teen he trained operatically at an arts school but with his range that meant performing as a tenor and a soprano. His tone is so exceptional he was actually part of the female section of the choir when they needed help. He then studied rock, pop and RnB vocal styles in college where he obtained a degree in The Art of Stage Performance/Variety Vocal. He plays seven instruments well including piano, the dombra (Kazakh two string lute) and the drums. His goal is to tastefully combine these vocal techniques, along with those of his native Kazakh heritage, to create his own musical fusion.

He has been classically trained since he was 5 years old. His Mom is an Opera singer. His Dad is a music producer. He is from Kazakhstan and has multiple degrees in Music. He sings in 9 languages and is learning to speak fluently in Chinese and English. He was 22 in this video. So he is 25 now. He has a 6 Octave range and as you stated is a master in all things musical.

How did I miss this reaction 4 years ago? I discovered Dimash months after the actual performance in 2017. I've been an almost daily viewing fan ever since. This very performance was my Dimash intro. I generally do NOT prefer the vocal coach analysis type of reactions to Dimash but yours is just so spot on correct. And you explain in a way that even semi trained people like myself can easily follow. Love that you immediately recognized that Dimash never came close to a whistle in this. Many have errored. Thank you for you full appreciation of every nuance of his performance. Yoirs is my favorite of literally 100s of vocal coach reactions out of the thousands of general reactions of Dimash reactions I've viewed. You clearly know your stuff at a very high level of expertise. Thank you for sharing this with us. Mark

Thanks for your wonderful reaction. Dimash is the best technically trained singer in the world today. He is a incredible. Definitely no whistle notes in this performance, but he does sing them in other songs. If you want to hear him sing opera, you should listen to Olimpico, he performs it with the composer Igor Krutoy, a very famous Russian Composer. They have done numerous songs together in the past year. But as you have just witnessed,Dimash sings many different styles of music. Please continue to listen to more performances by this amazing young man. I promise you will not be disappointed.🎼🎶🎤❤️🇺🇸

Dimash is a phenomenon, he started singing lessons and 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university educated with degrees in classical opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and is finishing his masters in Composition. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages and his range is over 6 octaves. In this performance he was 22 and in a competition for professional singers in China he was invited as a wildcard and after this one sing was catapulted to stardom and is now a pop superstar in China. He is known in Russia mainly for his neo classical work with Igor Krutoy and many of that work are very operatic. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register has hit a D8 for 5 seconds with vibrato. He is on a solo world tour tight now and in his concerts he sings for 3 to 4 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. He is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful this far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 but can play just about anything. He is 25 now, and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum album in China though. I am so happy that you have recognised his high notes as not whistle, I get cross when reactors decide this when they have no idea what they are saying. Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he dies its spectacular like everything else about him. He has billions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dead to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having, he has worked very hard for the past 20 years and now his dreams as a young 5 year old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018 where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. Thank you for your very intelligent and insightful reaction, please react more to him, especially his music from 2019. Bravo Dimash 💖

    Hi, Angel 🙂
Thank you so much for reacting to our Prince Dimash 💖🙏

Please don´t forget to fasten your seat belt, cause you´re in for a wild ride in Dimashland
    🙂
Dimash Kudaibergen was born on May 24, 1994 in Aktobe, Kazakhstan.
Both his parents are well known, honoured and respected artists in Kazakhstan.
Dimash´s mother is a soprano, and his father is a pop artist, songwriter and music producer. Dimash´s father is even his manager.
Dimash started his musical education at the age of 5, practicing the piano and dombra (a 2 string national kazakh instrument).
He won his first piano competition when he was 6 years old. His music teachers noticed that he had a perfect pitch, so he started getting singing lessons as well.
He later attended Gymnasium No. 32 in Aktobe. Kudaibergen completed a Broadway Musical master class in 2009. In 2014 he graduated in Classical Music from the music department of K. Zhubanov University in Aktobe, and began his studies in contemporary music (Jazz, Pop) at Kazakh National University of Arts in Astana where he graduated on 27th June, 2018 with Major in Vocal. He is currently taking his Masters in Composing, with the University.
He speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently (he studies English and Mandarin).
However, he sings in many more languages, such as English, Mandarin, French, Turkish, Ukrainian, Serbian, German and Italian.
He has won several music awards in Kazakhstan, Belarus and Asia.
He is a songwriter and a multi - instrumentalist (piano, dombra, electric guitar, drums, xylophone, accordion...). His vocal range is from C2 to D8.
At the end of this song, "Unforgettable Day", is where he sings the D8.

Thanks for the great reaction. Check out the song Olympico (aka Ogni Pietra) on his official YT channel. There are 3 versions there and they are all good. That song is sung 100% in bel canto style. 2 other operatic style songs sung with others are Ulisse and Ti Amo Cosi. Hope you feel better soon! :-)
P.S. You should stick with videos on his official channel in the future to avoid potential copyright strikes.

Obviously with every great singer there has to be an element of 'natural' talent but I think I can back up what you've just said by saying his father was a pop star & his mother was a famous opera singer. I believe he kept singing whilst his voice was transitioning in puberty & never lost his higher register. I have seen many boys get disheartened with their voice during this period, stop singing & only go back to it later when they have their 'deeper' voice & totally lose their higher register altogether. But I have also seen the flip side where if boys can persevere through puberty & keep practising through this period, they can often keep their high notes while naturally gaining those lower deeper ones, but they have to keep singing & not let puberty take over completely. Dimash is in his early 20's,sings in multiple languages, plays many instruments to a very high standard,is extremely intellenent, yet is the sweetest, shy most humble person you could ever imagine. Great reaction by the way, very informative,I like it when people who obviously know what they're talking about do reactions as it gives us people that aren't involved professionally in music an insight in to why things just sound good to our 'untrained' ears, so thankyou

Dimash is classically trained - he does sing opera. Please listen to "Passione" and "Ogni Pietra" by him. Thank you for this great reaction and welcome to the world of Dimash. This young (25) man from Kazakhstan is currently electrifying the world and the internet. He is now considered the world's best singer with a vocal range of 6 octaves (as I said, he is classically trained but can handle all genres, and he sings in 12 different languages). He is also a multi-instrumentalist. He plays several instruments masterfully, and he keeps winning all kinds of awards, but beyond that, he is an amazingly humble, down-to-earth human being. His self-proclaimed mission is to spread love, peace and unity everywhere he goes (and he is going everywhere nowadays!). He calls his fans "his Dears", and the number of his Dears is in the millions around the globe and growing by the day. Please check out some of his other work too and you won't regret it.

TLDR Background of Dimash: 😁He was declared a musical prodigy when he was 5 when he won a national piano competition in his country. His mother is a classically trained soprano and his father is in the music business (currently his manager). He trained as an Opera Singer in his teens and was offered a position in Astana Opera House, but he refused and went on to study Musical Theatre and Pop. He got recognized in Europe when he became the champion of the international competition Slavinski Bazaar and was later invited in China to compete (eg. The video you watched). He's a multi-instrumentalist, mastering the Dombra(a family tradition) and currently learning the drums. He has recently enrolled in a graduate program, a Masters in Composition. When he was recognized in China, his father dropped everything he is working on and promised to focus on him and his career. He is currently 25 years old. He dreams that one day when he can retire from performing and he would like to become a voice teacher/vocal coach.
I'm glad you reviewed him. Would love to see more of your analysis. 🙂

And his technique of singing is unearthly. He mix flawlessly and smoothly all styles and genres in his songs. He is a vocal beast. You'll be shocked more and more every time you watching him. Enjoyed your analysis, and I'm glad you've discovered Dimash! Dimash is classically trained--he was offered a position in the Astana Opera but decided to pursue a more neoclassical direction instead. This was from a TV show 3 years ago--you should definitely check out his recent performances, including "Olympico/Ogni Pietra," ruclips.net/video/raBHw-zOT5s/видео.html and "Passione-New Wave" ruclips.net/video/8QtI_fpTIxc/видео.html, both of which are operatic songs composed for him. Dimash also sang "Ti Amo Cosi" with Lara Fabian, if you know of her.

Fine reaction and professional analysis - thank you! This song is from the competition "I´m Singer" in China 1917 - Dimash was then 22. The competition had 14 rounds, he opened it with this song. He was the only foreigner and the first one ever being so young. He won 3 rounds - the first, the second and the sixth - and finally he was no. 2 by 0,08 points (I read somewhere) behind the winner, a 50 year old fabulous professional singer Lin Yilian. Dimash's most famous whistle tone is from his song "Unforgettable Day" at the Gakku Concert later that year 2017. Love from Denmark

    • @naynaynay324
      @naynaynay324 24 дня назад

Interesting. Perhaps a tiny bit of favouritism on display? Checked out Lin Yilian and from what I saw/heard she's a pleasant and capable singer; but DQ (his surname is really spelled with a q) is just what the first electric racing motorcycle in recent times (the LS-218) was, in comparison to fossil fueled bikes; i.e. outclassing them.
All the same, I realy think it was more the showcasing of his talent and the window of opportunity that opened up to him selling out arenas, which was the real goal and that he's big enough to let LY have had her moment; because from what I've learned he seem like a quite decent human.

There are a lot of voice coaches that have reacted to this video and most of the time they just end up with their jaws on the floor. They can kind of explain what he's doing - mostly by talking about head, chest, and mixed voice - but they can't offer any insight into why it's so difficult or how the techniques he's employing are different from one another. You did an excellent job of that, thank you so much!

Yes. Dimash often uses operatic techniques, but an opera singer might be particularly interested in 'Ogni Pietra,' which is just about entirely operatic.
This link is a fancam recording of the first performance Dimash gave, in a stadium in Belarus. The fancam version is better, since it shows Dimash throughout; the official Olympics Committee recording focuses instead on some old people dragging a flag around the stadium.

He didn't do whistle in this song, but there are many other songs he did whistle tones. One them is D8 whistle in his song Unforgettable Day from Gakku music festival. He is 22 in this performance, now he is 25 and getting better. Subscribe to his official RUclips channel for more, even recent performances.

    • @Urgelt
      @Urgelt 4 года назад

I will be very interested in Angel's opinion of this note.
I'm no vocal expert, but I suspect the D8 is *not* a whistle tone. It's something else entirely. I say that because I'm under the impression that Dimash can't modulate the note. It's all or nothing. Whistle tones can be modulated.
In the Gakku performance, if you watch carefully, you'll notice that he attempted to produce it, failed, reset himself and produced it.
What to call it? I'm tentatively calling it a 'throat whistle.' I don't think his larynx is engaged; instead, he is constricting his throat to a tiny aperture and simply passing air through it at the rate that causes resonance. It's got more in common with blowing across an open bottle mouth than a true whistle tone. He doesn't 'sing' the note. If he were to attempt to form words with the note, it would collapse; and he can't change the pitch, either. Whistle tones can include words; whistle tones can change pitch.
A gimmick, in other words - but one that's awfully fun.

Hi Angel, Nice reaction and comments. This was episode 1 of Singer 2017, where he was invited as the wildcard, youngest ever contestant on this Chinese singing competition at then 22 yrs old. He attended music school in his native Kazakhstan from aged 4/5 and used to amaze his teachers being to name and replicate every note on the piano at aged 5yrs, he also knew when a piano was slightly out of tune. Moving onto study at college then onto university where he gained his degrees he was offered a place with the Kazakh national opera but declined, wanting to concentrate on his "Popera". Since the Singer comp he has done lots and lots of phenomenal performances and I agree with what others have told you, take a listen to "Ogni Pietra" from his Arnau concert and "Love is like a dream" with composer Igor Krutoy at a concert from the Kremlin. If you wanna have a taste of his whistle, do check out his latest performance "Drunken beauty+Diva Dance" it's a duet with a Chinese opera singer 😁😁

Thanks for the professional response. You should watch Dimash’s performance with the song “Olimpiko” at the Arnau concert (fan chamber) .🙏

Dimash does come from a family of musicians and singers. He has a perfect pitch - at the age of 5, he was already complaining to his parents that the piano at home was out of tune. Also, if you'd like to hear him do real whistle notes, please listen to his song "Unforgettable Day" that he sang at the Gakku Festival (I don't think there was a single dog in the neighborhood that didn't perk up to that one).

He is now 25 and has been training for 20 yrs. He IS trained in all genres. 6+ octaves. 12 languages. Since this contest he has become a world wide phenom. Listen to Ogni Pietra for opera, Know for scatology in Russian, Passione for a wonderful epic experience, and Sinful Passion for a bit of mid eastern ethnic sound. His mother is a famous opera singer in his native Kazakhstan. He was offered a position in an opera company but turned it down to represent his country all over the world. He is humble, charming, generous, and quite frankly, without peers. You will fall in love with this young man. Looking forward to seeing you stunned again and again as you discover more of Dimash.

I have subscribed, only if you promise to do more reactions. I love technical reactions from knowledgeable people. Keep doing Dimash and watch your channel explode. Ogni Pietra/Olimpico is a good song for you. Linor Oren (also opera singer) called it virtuosic and the 'healthiest opera singing' she's ever seen. Needless to say, it will leave you speechless. The fancam on Dimash48 is best for close-up of his face, the official for sound. You would probably prefer the fancam to react to. Sound is pretty good

You just stumbled across internet gold. I won't go into a lot of details, but Dimash's parent are professional singers, and he's been singing since he was 5 years old. Classically trained, he sings mostly neo-classical, or popera, but there's really no limit to his style. He was 23 in this video. He's older, wiser, and even more musically advanced than 2017. You have barely scratched the surface of his musical capabilities. I encourage everyone to follow his journey from world discovery with this song (SOS), through the Singer 2017 competition, and experience his "progression" into current time. He is, undoubtedly, the greatest singer in the world. Keep digging, and you will see for yourself.

The plan is absolutely to react/analyze chronologically to his videos so I can see how his technique evolves- i am sure I will learn a thing or two for my own studies/teaching!
