This is widely considered THE quintessential "Classic Rock" song. There's a reason Zeppelin is in the pantheon of Rock and Roll. Great reaction. It was so much fun watching you all hear this for the first time.
Let's not forget John Paul Jones on the keyboards that did all the bass and flute. He a genius on keyboard and bass that doesn't get the recognition JP, RP and Bonham get.
It was a joy to watch you two react to one of the greatest rock ‘n roll songs of all time. I loved how into it you got, and how much you were really digging it. Always great to see younger generations appreciating this music I grew up with and even better, to see folks from a different culture react. Love this, guys.
For a multitude of reasons...all of them great...this is arguably the most renowned and recognizable rock song ever recorded. It encapsulates everything that made Zeppeling the best band in history. Incredible vocals...outstanding drumming...great bass lines...timeless lyrics...and Page work that arguably makes him the greatest guitarist in history.

Thank you for doing my pick! So happy that on first listen, you saw the magnitude of this great song! Many would have told you to listen to the live version first but back in 1971 those of us that are as old as me heard it first on the radio and really got to know it, an absolute masterpiece of a song done in the studio. Now you can go have your fun and watch it live from 1973 Madison Square Garden… And I was privileged to be at that show July 29, 1973!… you are only three songs into Zeppelin, you have way more to discover!
Ed, thank you for having them react to the studio version first. I think every song should be heard first as the studio version, the one we all listened to on our stereos and radios back when they first came out. Cheers.
Ohh ❤️ thank you so much once again! It really means a lot to us 🙏🙏 we'll definitely keep digging more into the rabbit hole because it's very intriguing especially since we're not really expert in the rock/heavy metal genre so it's kinda new to us and we're glad our viewers such as yourself are enjoying the listening experience with us ❤️ Appreciate it❤️
Thank you for insisting on the studio version. While the famous live ("can anyone remember laughter..?") is a great way to show LZ's stage presence, both the sound quality and the solo are inferior. It's an interesting addition for when you already know the song as it should be known (that's why they recorded it in the studio this way, no?). Good call!
It was wonderful watching the expressions of both of you as this song played, it seemed like you were on a journey. I hope you do continue to explore Led Zeppelin in all their glory. Every song from them is one side of their multi-faceted existence, you won't regret the trip! :)
Great reaction, Carol and Elie! I have listened to this song thousands of times for past 50 years and it is just as sublime on every listen as the first time. I typically would not recommend a live version of this song, although LZ did it really well in live performances, and I would definitely never recommend a cover of any LZ song. However, there is one live cover version of this song that the band Heart did for the Kennedy Center honors where the remaining members of Led Zeppelin were being honored and the drums for Heart were being played by Jason Bonham, John Bonham's (Bonzo's) son, that is a treat that you should give yourselves. Continue enjoying your LZ journey, no bad songs ahead
My favorite album from Led Zeppelin is... All of them. That is one reason they are the greatest artists in popular music history (since popular became "pop" namely the 1950s) ever.
Such an amazing song. The music, oh what a sweet build up, frantic swirl, and magical conclusion. The lyrics MUST be listened to many times for it to slowly sink in. It is imagery and poetry, not thinking. A seduction of the ears, a teasing of the heart, and a mystery for the mind.
GREATEST ROCK AND ROLL SONG TO ALOT OF PEOPLE INCLUDING ME 😍!!! I REMEMBER WHEN THIS ALBUM CAME OUT AND I WENT AND BOUGHT IT AND WE COULD NOT STOP PLAYING FOR EVER!! IT STILL SOUNDS JUST AS GREAT NOW AS IT DID THEN!! 🐐🔥🎸😍😁
It was a real treat watching you both react to one of the greatest rock groups of all time. Individually each member of Led Zeppelin were great, but together they made magic that the world may never see again. Thanks for this great reaction.
Ladies and Gentleman, right here is what the world needs a lot more of. Two people from a completely different country, culture, religion, appearance, and politics who put all that aside- as do those of us watching it- and we all are just sharing a love a great music and the fun of watching someone else enjoy it. Music brings us together like nothing else can.. Its so refreshing to see this people from the middle east hear and enjoy American music and none of us care about all those other things the news keeps telling us are differences and problematic. You guys are great, thanks for doing this and sharing it with the world and me!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment ❤️ One correction, we're not of different religion, we're Christians. People are more alike than different. Politics and media intend to separate us but music always brings us together and that's the beauty of it.
This solo is considered the greatest rock solo of all time...I think the live performance at MSG in 1973 is incredible as well; you get to see Jimmy Page play the "Double Neck Guitar" - by the way, it isn't an acoustic guitar, but a 12-string and 6-string electric guitar pieced together into the iconic "Double Neck" - you really get to see the way in which the song is put together and Plant is incredible live along with Bonzo with his drum fills and JPJ playing the recorder and using his foot pedals for the bass...when I was a kid and this song came out, i thought it was a flute...just how incredible these four musicians are and were...simply the best
That song is my favorite rock song. As an old boomer I never tire of hearing it. As a guitar player I now can play that iconic solo. It was on my bucket list. That song is a mystical and heavenly experience 😊
Great song. A true classic. It is truly considered one of the, if not the greatest Rock - n - Roll songs of all time. I tend to agree. You two are great! Kudos!
That picture behind you of Jimmy Page with the double-neck guitar... this song is the reason Jimmy ordered the EDS-1275 double-neck from Gibson. It allows him to play this song live without switching guitars. 😎
An amazing song, and an amazing band. It was an instant classic. And it probably is the greatest rock song of all time. I remember the first time I heard it back in the 70s and it left me stunned and speechless. The whole album is great. One of my favorites.Their first album has become my favorite over the years. This was their fourth album.
The official #1 Classic Rock song of all time, by a band who are absolute rock ROYALTY. BTW, studio versions are for the purity of the music. Live versions are for the pleasure of seeing the artists perform. Thanks for your reaction.
I wish I could go back all those years to the first time I heard this song. The magic of this song has faded mostly because its 50ish years old and because as a guitar and bass player I learned all the parts. If you want to keep the magic alive do not learn your favorite songs. After magic its all just math.
I still remember the first time I heard this song, I must've been around 12 or 13 years old. My mom was into the "oldies" station, so I was well versed in 1950's and 1960's music. Then one night I slept at my cousin's house. The next day we were hanging outside and his older brother pulls up in his Chevy Luv. He had the radio on and this started blasting through the speakers! Every note was pure gold!
I’m almost 65 years old. This was the first album I bought that wasn’t the Beatles. Stairway To Heaven is musical masterpiece in every sense. It changes (increases) tempo 3 times which gives it a completely different feeling 3 times. Unheard of. Genius. That’s just not done. I don’t think it’s ever been done since. The lyrics are an introspective examination of the meaning of life. I never knew anyone who didn’t spend a little time thinking about the meaning of life after listening to this song. After all these years it still moves me the way it did the first time I heard it. And now it’s moving a 3rd generation. For that, I want to say thank you. You are why rock and roll will never die. That guitar solo is at least top 5 all time. And the song as a whole. It’s hard to say that any 1 song is the greatest of all time because there are probably 8 or maybe 10 that you could make a case for. But this one is most certainly the cream of the crop. It’s important to understand that there were no beats or samples or auto tune back then. Every single note was played and recorded by hand in analog. The first personal computers wouldn’t exist for another 20 or 25 years and they wouldn’t be powerful enough to run the software that also wouldn’t exist for yet another 15 years. This is a truly magnificent achievement. I hope you continue to discover and enjoy all of the great rock music. There’s a lot out there. If I may make 2 suggestions. Always listen to the studio album version 1st. That’s as close to what the artist intended as it’s possible to get. Live performances are really only great if you happened to be there in that moment. With a few very rare exceptions. Now, if you want to hear something really cool, listen to Carnival, by Natalie Merchant, from the album Tiger Lilly. Natalie Merchant is another genius besides being stunningly beautiful. But the thing that sets this song apart is the guitar, played by Jennifer Turner. The lyrics and the vocals are spectacular too, but the guitar work is just…well…I just don’t have the words to adequately describe it. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever heard. Enjoy. Much love 😊❤
I love the way you guy’s look and love your reaction! You look like I did when I first heard this song when it came out! Glad you dug it! You hippies! 😂❤👍🏻
There is a message in this song. She realizes that money can’t buy happiness toward achieving(heaven). And when she gets there, she’s warning everyone of her descent and ultimate ascendancy to heaven for the right reasons. She listened to the piper’s tune!
One of the purest reactions to Stairway To Heaven that I have seen. This one is a saver. New subscriber. Stay real, and ... keep on r'actin . Oh -- don't put "Rock and Roll" in a box. There is so much of a range in rock. Soft Rock. Heavy Metal [ not the devil crap ]. Southern Rock. Even "Pop" can be Rock. Especially Pop from the 60's through the 90's. There is also Country Rock. All genres of music are great, for the most part. Good music is good music. There are extremes that don't even qualify as music. But in general, real music is beautiful. Disco was frowned upon back in the 70's when I was a teen. It wasn't "cool." I even gave away my "Saturday Night Fever" album because it was full of disco. And I NEVER gave away one of my albums. Not from my coveted album collection. But I felt "uncool" owning a disco album. Of course, now the songs from the disco era are considered good music. Because they are. The Bee Gees are an incredible band, and they were prominent during the disco era. But The Bee Gees wrote and performed music that fit in multiple genres. Y'all have a bottomless pit to dig into as far as the amount of great music there is out there to react to. And while the 70's are the best decade of modern music -- hands down -- check out the songs anywhere from the 50's up to and including the 90's. Of course, the music from 2000 until now has some great stuff. And there are bands and solo artists who recently have been putting out some good 'ol R&R and Pop music. Real talent is still out there.
This song saved my life when stuck in the high country wilderness of Colorado for many days in a vw van. I played it every time I dared to start the van for heat..Richard
So glad you listened to the studio version instead of the live version. With the studio version you can hear all the subtleties that you just can't with the live version.
Thank you, I grew up watching and listening to them. For just a few dollars we could get in to see The Who, The Doors, and other greats at the "Whisky A GOGO" in Hollywood and "The Golden Bear" in Huntington Beach. It was a great time to live, and have fun. "Love you guys." Oh, and a bit of trivia: Whisky is spelled without the "e" because California law did not allow places to use alcohol in their name..!
I wanted to come back and watch your reaction once again, very nice. You two do a good job, and I'm glad you enjoyed this song. I had to add something about the lyrics. I still think you can listen many times and more from it with each hearing. It is meant to be mysterious, and like all good mysterious always has great depth. But at its most basic it's about a selfish woman who thinks everything is about money, all that matters is owning stuff, being rich, and getting whatever you want from anyone and anything anytime. She thinks heaven is just a big shopping mall, where everyone will treat her like a princess. The lyrics tease you on purpose with illusive images, because that stimulates your imagination and sense of wonder. It hints instead of speaking directly. It says to the woman in the song... hey, you, woman, there's much more more to life than what you think. Much much more. -- I hope it's ok that I commented twice.
ABSOLUTELY agree on using the studio vrsion for first listen of this song. I saw 3 of the 5 Led Zepplin shows at Earl's Court in London in 1975, and the film production of this song just never came out that well. Use the live versions for some of the faster paced songs, like "Black Dog"; "Immigrant Song"; "Dazed and Confused", etc.
It's not possible to hear a song again for the first time so seeing the reaction from other people to a 52 year oild song that still holds a power to amaze is incredible. Led Zep set a template for other bands to followof a slow burn song to a rock out and I don't think Bohemian Rhapsody would exist without this song. The group were worried that their fans were buying their albums just on their name so they released this without the band details on the album so the songs were appraised purely on merit. I think you should try War Pigs by Black Sabbath, a heavy rock and heavy lyrics song.
1000000 % agreed!! Annoys me why some people tell these reactors to listen to studio version over the live version at Madison Square Garden. That performance is absolute perfection and leaves WAY more of an impact than the studio version
So glad I found your channel. Good to see some representation. My father's parents were born in Lebanon, and I attend a Maronite church here in Northeast Ohio. Plus, I had the good fortune to grow up in the 60's and 70's, so I was exposed to some great rock-and-roll. Keep up the good work.
At about 7:14 you guys looked at each other in wonder at the drumming you'd just heard. That moment perfectly encapsulated what Zeppelin can do for people, and why you guys make a great pair of reactors together! You're smart reactors, too, appreciating the lyrics. Try "Going to California," a beautiful acoustic Zep tune that also has wonderful lyrics! (1975, Earl's Court performance)
Two Recommendations: The Live 1973 Version..OMG! and the Kennedy Center Honors, where 2 sisters "Heart" perform this song in honor and tribute to Led Zeppelin who are in attendance! Very Emotional! Enjoy!
This song saved my life when I was stuck in a Colorado wilderness snow storm for many days in a vw van. Thank God for this song and that Volkswagen van. Richard
To think that this masterpiece came out 52 years ago, before auto tune and computer dub/overdub, and it is still so very special and timeless. The #1 classic rock hit of all time.

You're spot on.
This song saved my life when stuck in the high country wilderness of Colorado for many days in a vw van. I played it every time I dared to start the van for heat..Richard
So glad you listened to the studio version instead of the live version. With the studio version you can hear all the subtleties that you just can't with the live version.
Love all the song but the guitar solo is the best ever and the highlights of the song for me.
This is the greatest band of all time and the best song ever made!!
Don't forget places like Wolf and Rissmillers Country club and also FM station in North Hollywood
The greatest rock song ever recorded.
Nothing in the past few decades tops it.
I never get tired of hearing bonham @7:11 he just put them into the stars
Glad you enjoyed and think about how awesome this was 50 years ago
Haunting guitar at the end. And Plants voice stretched into the abyss. Great reaction! Cool background ❤
Great reaction and beautiful woman! The man okay I guess. 😁🇺🇸
I was in high school when this album came out. Your reaction is pretty much ours when we first listened. Love you guys!😎
An amazing Rock masterpiece. Your reaction is very similar when most of us heard this for the first time.
After 50+ years, there is no other song that is so widely appreciated!!! LZ is the most diverse and iconic band in history!
Love your reaction to Stairway to Heaven. I'm 55 and the song still gives me chills. Excuse me Elie, Carol so beautiful.
The effect with the left and right fade is bc FM radio was in its infancy. Groups would use this for added pleasure to the listener.
I was just so glad I grew up during the greatest era of rock n roll in the 60s and 70s so many songs that true passion of poetry.
The live version from Madison Square Garden blows this out of the water.
1000000 % agreed!! Annoys me why some people tell these reactors to listen to studio version over the live version at Madison Square Garden. That performance is absolute perfection and leaves WAY more of an impact than the studio version
i bought this record in 73, i was 13, great reaction guys💙💙💙
thanks for your great reaction, a lovely couple enjoying this led zeppelin masterpiece
One of the great rock songs, if not the greatest. Had the great fortune to see them in London twice in the early days. Such memories....
LOVE watching young people experiencing this!! Saw them in 74, I was 21.😊
Thank you, great stuff. Well worth trying it live at Madison Square gardens. Long guitar solo with Jimmy Page shredding the hell out of it!
Be sure to watch Heart's version of this song at the Kennedy Center event honoring the band, who were in the audience. It's a GREAT version.
Absolutely 💯
It's so lovely to see young people of today enjoying the bands of my youth.
I saw Robert Plant with Alison Krauss in June. The man still had the swagger.
I recommend you watch and listen to the live version of the song. it's incredible.
Two Recommendations: The Live 1973 Version..OMG! and the Kennedy Center Honors, where 2 sisters "Heart" perform this song in honor and tribute to Led Zeppelin who are in attendance! Very Emotional! Enjoy!
Great Zeppelin mosaic behind you. Great reaction. Glad you enjoyed one of the best.
I liked the way you 2 listened and critiqued the song; not constantly stopping and starting. Nice job.
This is the most epic and stand out rock song of this genre -and many other genres!
