- One of Rishi Sunak’s closest parliamentary aides is facing a Gambling Commission probe after he “put a flutter” on when the General Election would take place.
Craig Williams, who served as the Prime Minister’s parliamentary private secretary and is the Conservative candidate for Montgomeryshire and Glyndwr, admitted to placing a bet on when the poll would take place “some weeks ago”.

This is a cultural issue. Sunak (while British) was born to parents who came to Britain in the 1960s. He didn’t have grandparents or great grandparents who fought in the war, or parents who perhaps were evacuated or bombed out in the war. When you have these influences in your life (especially as a child) you are forever changed on hearing the hardships and sacrifices made for you and your country. You don’t take your freedoms for granted because you realize that keeping Hitler out of Britain was an incredible thing to do - and that so many people sacrificed their lives permanently or temporarily to do it - and it should be given the utmost respect.
India gave us the largest volunteer army ever by 1941 and was the main reason the USA never invaded Canada in 1936. Don't try and sound cleverer than you are. It was a full democracy in 1947 before the UK so don't barf on about things you know nothing about.
@@user-uy3bj9ue5c They were the biggest contingent in the north and east African campaign, western desert campaign. Most were still stationed in India and Pakistan to keep the peace because India wanted to end imperialism.
Read this from a book called "Farthest Field" An Indian writers grandfathers story of the war.
"He never served in the war as we think about it at all. He was sent off to the northwestern frontier provinces of India, which is now the northwest of Pakistan, the areas that are home to the Pashtun tribes, which had always been very hostile to British control and to imperial domination.
By following Ganny I discovered that much of the Indian Army, even at the peak of the Second World War, were not fighting Germans or Italians or Japanese, but were still employed in the business of maintaining Britain's own empire, and maintaining the domination of Indians of different kinds themselves."

Not the same as hearing your dad tell stories of their evacuation to Cornwall and being abused, or witnessing the death of dozens of soldiers fall out the sky when a glider went down, being bombed out 3x or having a Gerry plane go down in the canal behind your house in the east end - all real events from my dads life.
