I want to attempt to take it again. I really really need help and advice on passing. If I dont pass this last exam...I will no longer be eligible to take it. I dont want to give up. I have almost all the old books. (Harr, flashcards, success, boc, concise) How did you study? What materials did you use? I see they changed the exam alittle, should I buy the next books or is the old version ok?
@@toutou8228 I used a lot of labce, which is a lot harder than the ASCP, in my opinion. I don't think there is a need to use new textbooks. I had old versions and it was ok. I would also use wordsology.org (high yield notes), incredibly helpful!

The second time I was told that I have to study the 5th edition of the BOC book. I studied when I went to the ASCP test again I didn't see a single question from the BOC book. Now, I am trying to find the ASCP questions bank. Some people tell me that you have to understand the concept. let me tell you this, there are thousands of organisms there is no way anyone knows all of them. If I practice the questions and I see them on the exam I would definitely know the answer. I know the basic knowledge of the lab because I am working in the lab.
Im going through the questions on my BOC for MLT ill be taking the test prob this summer when i graduate and im missing like every other question and i feel like i havent been remembering as much as i thought. Theyre very detailed questions as well
I personally didnt use the BOC since a lot of my friends said that some of the questions had wrong answers on them😣. So I just stuck with the success book and the rest of the books on this video as well as labce.

Thanks for the sub! The green and yellow book has plenty of information in it to get you a passing grade on the ASCP, as long as you truly use it. A newer edition sometimes is just a way to get more money out of people, without much difference from the previous edition. But having said that, I have not seen the new book so I can’t give you a comparative answer. What I truly know though is that the Green and Yellow one has more than enough information for you to pass the ASCP as long as you understand the questions and use it thoroughly as a reviewer. Been looking for a video that could explain the process for me. I have an undergraduate degree in Microbiology but I am new to US, haven't had success in getting to an internship program, and I want to take the exam. Could you please help me with ideas on how I could get to an internship program. While preparing for the exams
Depending on where you live in the US, different States have different pathways in getting licensed. If you take California as an example, you need to be in an internship program in order to take the ASCP. So try to start there search for CLS or medical lab science programs near me and get in touch with these programs. They would provide a lot more information than I can, since they are based locally where you live. You can also look at hospitals and see if they are hiring Clinical Lab Scientist or Medical Lab Scientist the name varies with different states, then work your way from there search how to get licensed in your State or you can apply for a processing/lab job just to get your foot in the door and know what you need to get to CLS school. The best thing about bottomline is that it will give you memorization strategies through cartoons but it is incomplete, kulang yung information nya to prep for the ASCP, meanwhile the ciula book gives you intense review questions and bullet points of information for reviewing. It is a more complete and concise reviewer, yun nga lang wala sya nung cartoons. You can always make your own cartoons/charts to memorize things. Hope that helps.

You should probably find books or resources to test yourself first to see if you are ready to take it. The review books especially the SUCCESS book can really allow you to get a good gauge of yourself. If you do great on those questions you should be ready to take the exam.

That is actually a great idea because a lot of physicians have no idea how the lab works, it would be great experience and education for you, if you are going into medical school. Go into the NAACLS website they have a program search there wherever you are in the States they can show you available Med technician and Med lab Scientist programs in your area, from there you can contact the program director and ask specific questions regarding your situation. Best of luck to you!
Medical Lab Technician program is different from a lab Technologist or a Medical Lab Scientist program from where I am from, please look at the ASCP's website for MLS licensing, it depends on your State regulations as well.
I can't really say for sure since I did use it for MLS, not MLT. But if the MLT covers similar topics I'd say this book can definitely help you review.
Hi Meisha, I took the MLT (ASCP) in 2017. I used the Success Book, LABce, and Clinical Laboratory Science Review book (yellow& purple). I'll be taking the MLS (ASCP) exam in December. Good luck on your exam :)

You have to search it by State and City that you are in. You can also get in touch with your education counselor to see what your options are in your area. 😊
