The 3 most iconic characters is a completely different conversation from the 3 most popular characters. Although King might be number one in popularity and iconicness. But I would strongly argue that King Eddie and Kuma are the three most iconic characters in the Tekken franchise. If you ask somebody that doesn't play the game to name a character in the game one of the 3 characters they will say. Although because they're casual, they will say oh the guy that wrestles with the tiger mask? they will say oh the Capo guy or they will say oh the bear. I don't believe Fahk was Bruce in the beginning of his design. He was likely meant to be Sagat for TxSF, but since it fell through, they used the model for T7 and turned him into Fahk.
See, this is why Armor King is in the right spot, because he's the best selling DLC of the last game. He's THE 4th played character in the usage charts. He's not dead either. He was widely recieved as a fun character by almost the whole playerbase.
Bruce, Wang, Baek and Christie were some of the most iconic characters back in the old days of Tekken, it's too bad that they'll most likely not make it in this new era
First of all hwoarang only has like a hand full of baeks moves and baeks movelist was totally different this T8 already showed us one thing nothing’s impossible seeing how shaheen made it bk heihachi is now in the mix characters like Christie and forest law with tha same movelist as marshal and eddy won’t make it bk but Bruce, baek and wang still has hope again it’s tekken nothing is far fetched don’t be surprised to see some of these characters in future dlc

I feel like Bruce would be really hype. And he has a cool look that would fit in the Tekken 8 universe really well. Especially if they aged him a little bit. His movelist was very fleshed out by Tekken Tag 2. And I feel like it would fit in the Tekken 8 game engine really well… That being said. I wouldn’t be opposed to Fauk as long as they gave him a stance similar to Bruce/Josie. I feel like Fauk’s movelist felt like a pre Tekken 6 era Bruce movelist, so to me it felt underwhelming compared to the post Tekken 6 Bruce movelist.
Unfortunately, Tekken has so many solid characters, it's just impossible to include them all in one game, otherwise you get a Tekken Tag Tournament 2 situation where there's too many matchups to be aware of. We would be up to like 70+!
Idk why people think Leroy is a Wang clone. They have totally different fighting styles and use different martial arts. There are similarities but many characters have similarities. I guess its really the characters that are similar. Like the "old man of a fighting game" character that Leroy is that reolaced Wang. But you could still bring him back as Tekken has a lot of old fighters.
So my thing is Christie is one of my favorite characters in the franchise, now if they turn around and add Anna back I’m gonna be confused and upset..if they can add Anna back then they can def add Christie back. Very different case. Like, totally incomparable, because both chars have not even a single animation in common. In SF the only chars who are similar to each other and keep appearing in modern games are the shotos, that look more like an exception. Same case of the Mishimas shared moves... They are important enough in the franchise to get that privilege. But the general tendency in modern games is to reduce these redundant chars or derivative chars. It works that way in SF, TK, MK, etc.
I like the idea of a new female Tae kwon doe character, I could see hwoarang being her master like baek was to him. Could still be his same cocky self but now he’s a teacher.(that’s if they don’t decide to bring Baek back)
I also like it, but at the same time i'm concerned about the accusations of copying SF. Because female students are more common there (there's even Kimberly recently) and of course the case of Juri being a TKD girl. Nowadays the communities are more critical than ever, and the same for the fight between different communities.
Mainly the Chang mother/daughter duo, Baek do San, Bob (as Slim Bob, because time heals😄), Christie with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Lei Wulong, Kunimitsu, JUST True Ogre as Ogre, Anna Williams, Josie Rizal with Escrima, Ganryu, Forrest Law with Hua Gua, Anna Williams, Master Raven with Taijutsu, Bruce Irvin with expanded Muay Thai (Fakumrahm can Fak A bad mom for all I care🥱💅🏽), Gigas, Craig Marduk, Eliza, Miguel, Armor King, Alex, Roger, and finally Shin Kamiya, ...since they brought Heihachi back for no damn reason.
Fakhumram is probably the worst character design in all of Tekken. They should create a new Muay Thai character with Fakhs moves but a completely new character design.
I mean…im down for some characters to return but…i really would like some stages from the older games to return🤷🏽♂️ And for the fight lounge/arcade quest to be updated to where we can play classic namco and older tekken games also. Maybe add a full tekken force/scenario campaign-esque mode too I would just like to see more content added to the game
Fahkumram is such a great fighter , I love his charge atk moves but besides that his really good at doing Muaythai, can’t wait to see him and I do hope he comes out this winter
I just wanna play Baek again 😢 he’s always been my favorite character since I was little. If they killed him off so be it but at least pass down his moveset to another character I know Hwoarang has some of his moves but hate to say it but Baek a dumb down version of Hwoarang he’s just more simple to use instead of Hwoarang 😂. My opinion...bring back the characters that were brought in the main roster of Tekken 6 and/or 7 and DROPPED in 8 with no explanation (e.g. Katarina, Bob, Josie, Gigas, Miguel). If not, at least tie them in to a future DLC or 2. The people who are paying attention may start asking.
Tekken fans are too picky it's becoming toxic like MK fans, sometimes a franchise wants to move on from characters. It's quite common when we never see a character in a while or the character is assumed dead, a portion of a fan base always spam the devs to bring the character back. Lei Wulong is a prime example of this. Forget Bruce, he has a boring storyline, Fahkumram has so much going for him. His design and backstory is far more interesting than Bruce, plus he's from Thailand. He has a fan base already. The only reason why people don't like him was due to him being so OP

Lei is the only Tekken 2 OC that hasn't seen a replacement. Really. I thought Asuka replaced Jun. Hwoarang with Baek. Bryan with Bruce. You get the idea.
Legacy characters like Wang were replaced by Leroy. I don't think there'd be any reason to bring him back. A clone TKD character definitely makes me sceptical because they always introduce a new or different fighting style. It just seems unnecessary
Funny idea: What if we get to fight or meet legacy characters in the story mode as side characters but not be able to play as them? We can at least have them show up to give intel or help characters emotionally or financially and not completely leave them in the dust. Niklas Kliesen is not a fighter, but he does play a part in the story. He has his own lore and stuff... We can have Baek meet Hwoarang again, make a few comments about how he has surpassed him and he's retiring or something, we can have Shin Kamiya make a cameo as a person who didn't get experimented on since Blood Vengeance isn't canon, have him chat with Jin about how he misses the old days, we can have Lee's secretary or Miharu... I think I am making myself clear enough.
You know, keeping tabs on old characters, sounds great ate last we can get a cameo or flashback of how Eddy goes to visit Christie and know what she's doing. And yes! I've been wanting Shin to be added to the game for so long!
If certain legacy characters are clones of characters that we have currently, then maybe the devs can make an ultimate type skin that could be a new model with the original’s move set. Think how Injustice 2 incorporated other characters by reskinning existing ones.

Let’s be honest with ourselves, would anyone play Wang or Baek or Christie if they were in the game? No. People always complain about how old characters aren’t in the game and I don’t get it. Of course veteran players are going to be bias towards older characters, but the average Tekken player who’s new to the community isn’t going to care about them. Asking for characters like Baek make no sense when we already have Hwoarang, same thing with Christie, we already have Eddy. Some people get so blinded by nostalgia that they don’t use common sense.

That is the sad part. Especially for Christie! They introduced Katarina in T7 which was basically Christie with a different figting style. While I like her, there was no need to make her this similar with Christie. It really speaks for itself as to what was their intension I think. And now, as far as I see, many people don't even care about Katarina. Ultimately wasted a new character potential too. They could have easily revamped Christie and make Katarina more different than Christie. That way, it would serve better to the community and the lore of Tekken I think. 🤷🏻♂️

The problem though is that clones chars wont be received well in the dlc era, with gradually rising prices of these games and their dlcs. The current era works different from the 90s, 00s, and even the time of TTT2. Nobody paid separately for a clone char, so this idea was always welcome for most of the time. It's just that people make an exception for important clone chars being sold as dlc, like Akuma in SF, and now Heihachi in TK. But the tendency on average, regarding non essential clone chars, is not being as tolerant as in the past.

I only complain about characters being or not being in Tekken because I want so many characters. BAEK was one of my dudes, I suck with him, but I love him. Right now, I only have two of my faves in the game so I want more. We're just b*tching. We understand that we can't have all the characters. But for folks that say "No one plays X character." Till this day talking about returning characters is useless since all the criteria is subjective and no one knows what traits a character should have to return to the game. Tekken 7 newcomers were not interesting enough to be part of tekken 8, and we still have characters with low usage that are being pushed without any valid reason.
Just accept it guys, those characters have been replaced and besides their stories are boring as hell or concluded. There is no reason to bring them back. In terms of income for the company there are better options.
In terms of gameplay for Bruce and Fahkumram, they play very differently, despite sharing moves. Same with Hwoarang and Baek. King and Armor King II.

In SF the only chars who are similar to each other and keep appearing in modern games are the shotos, that look more like an exception. Same case of the Mishimas shared moves... They are important enough in the franchise to get that privilege. But the general tendency in modern games is to reduce these redundant chars or derivative chars. It works that way in SF, TK, MK, etc.

I also like it, but at the same time i'm concerned about the accusations of copying SF. Because female students are more common there (there's even Kimberly recently) and of course the case of Juri being a TKD girl. My opinion...bring back the characters that were brought in the main roster of Tekken 6 and/or 7 and DROPPED in 8 with no explanation (e.g. Katarina, Bob, Josie, Gigas, Miguel). If not, at least tie them in to a future DLC or 2. The people who are paying attention may start asking.
Tekken fans are too picky it's becoming toxic like MK fans, sometimes a franchise wants to move on from characters. It's quite common when we never see a character in a while or the character is assumed dead, a portion of a fan base always spam the devs to bring the character back. Lei Wulong is a prime example of this. Forget Bruce, he has a boring storyline, Fahkumram has so much going for him. His design and backstory is far more interesting than Bruce, plus he's from Thailand. He has a fan base already. The only reason why people don't like him was due to him being so OP

A clone TKD character definitely makes me sceptical because they always introduce a new or different fighting style. It just seems unnecessary
Funny idea: What if we get to fight or meet legacy characters in the story mode as side characters but not be able to play as them? We can at least have them show up to give intel or help characters emotionally or financially and not completely leave them in the dust. Niklas Kliesen is not a fighter, but he does play a part in the story. He has his own lore and stuff...
We can have Baek meet Hwoarang again, make a few comments about how he has surpassed him and he's retiring or something, we can have Shin Kamiya make a cameo as a person who didn't get experimented on since Blood Vengeance isn't canon, have him chat with Jin about how he misses the old days, we can have Lee's secretary or Miharu...

If certain legacy characters are clones of characters that we have currently, then maybe the devs can make an ultimate type skin that could be a new model with the original’s move set. Think how Injustice 2 incorporated other characters by reskinning existing ones.

Let’s be honest with ourselves, would anyone play Wang or Baek or Christie if they were in the game? No. People always complain about how old characters aren’t in the game and I don’t get it. Of course veteran players are going to be bias towards older characters, but the average Tekken player who’s new to the community isn’t going to care about them. Asking for characters like Baek make no sense when we already have Hwoarang, same thing with Christie, we already have Eddy. Some people get so blinded by nostalgia that they don’t use common sense.

That is the sad part. Especially for Christie! They introduced Katarina in T7 which was basically Christie with a different figting style. While I like her, there was no need to make her this similar with Christie. It really speaks for itself as to what was their intension I think. And now, as far as I see, many people don't even care about Katarina. Ultimately wasted a new character potential too. They could have easily revamped Christie and make Katarina more different than Christie. That way, it would serve better to the community and the lore of Tekken I think. 🤷🏻♂️

The problem though is that clones chars wont be received well in the dlc era, with gradually rising prices of these games and their dlcs. The current era works different from the 90s, 00s, and even the time of TTT2. Nobody paid separately for a clone char, so this idea was always welcome for most of the time.
It's just that people make an exception for important clone chars being sold as dlc, like Akuma in SF, and now Heihachi in TK. But the tendency on average, regarding non essential clone chars, is not being as tolerant as in the past.

Right now, I only have two of my faves in the game so I want more. We're just b*tching. We understand that we can't have all the characters. But for folks that say "No one plays X character." Till this day talking about returning characters is useless since all the criteria is subjective and no one knows what traits a character should have to return to the game. Tekken 7 newcomers were not interesting enough to be part of tekken 8, and we still have characters with low usage that are being pushed without any valid reason.

Just accept it guys, those characters have been replaced and besides their stories are boring as hell or concluded. There is no reason to bring them back. In terms of income for the company there are better options.
