I'd think it probably works just fine in the lower torque ranges. I believe I'd definitely use it in combination with a breaker bar for the tighter stuff, though. I almost picked one up a while back, just to try because it was affordable, to carry on my atv. But I've got enough ratchets that i dont use already. Sounds like the gear is dry of oil, but that may be the noise transfer of that composite material I'm hearing. Have a good one.
