James sharing his encyclopedic Godzilla knowledge never gets old.
What are you doing here?! lol
Except the "guardian of Hu" is called Megalon not Moguera.
@@Geek_Chorus Yeah, legit, I just find myself getting annoyed and infuriated listening to him talk about Godzilla more than anything.
The two of them make such a bad combo especially because his mate is so utterly clueless and seems to talk just to hear himself speak, which doesn't go very nicely with it. I'm legitimately just watching this for the gameplay.
Yeah but I can put up a challenge to me if he accepts...
Neither does James.
It's pretty cool that Godzilla's design changes in each stage to reflect the suit used in that specific movie.
Oh ya. Looking again it does. NICE
I love the fact how Mike instantly knows which episode of AVGN James is talking about the second he mentions the Godzilla episode.
Mike is probably the biggest AVGN fan!
I can listen to James talk about giant monster movies for hours.
I can listen to Mike talk about his trouser monster for days
I agree
Love how the Godzilla sprite here changes to the appropriate suit depending on the monster he's fighting. And not just Showa-Heisei either, but all of the various Showa variations.
Horrorgins oh yeah I didn't even notice that
One of the most reliably consistent series that RUclips has to offer. Thanks for the unwavering commitment to your upload schedule guys.
Marubolas Fully agreed. This and Night Mind are, above and beyond, my absolute favorite channels on YT.
Thank God at least one of them is consistent with their uploads.
Marubolas I don't get why this is so shocking...two grown adults play children's games, record themselves doing it. No real editing just play a game and be recorded. Then they record multiple episodes in one day and periodically release them...your comment is a joke.
Lotus Reborn Her comment was praising quality, as well... and never said anything about being shocked. Maybe you're trying too hard?
Oh shoosh lotus lemme spread my positivity in peace, your comment serves no purpose other than try and devalue mine. Nothing wrong with showing appreciation for my favorite series..
Yeah dude I've been watching these guys since 06, just the fact they're still around today in 2018 makes me thankful as fuck ya know?
Always good to see how much you guys still love the Kaiju movies and themes. It's like you guys still stay true to your guys stuff even after all this time. Love coming back weekly and seeing what stuff you guys have to share with us. Hope you both can make a trip to Tokyo at some point. Keep making this awesome stuff James and MIke!
James and Mike are real men!
I need sleep, but I see Cinemassacre and Godzilla and automatically watch!
I was so pumped for the Shin Godzilla movie I remember then I totally forgot until now. Thanks James you made me pause your video and go watch Shin.
Hope you enjoyed it! I recently watched every Godzilla from '54 to Shin, Shin was in my top 3 favourites alongside Godzilla vs King Ghidorah and Mothra vs Godzilla.
I love how you get every verson of godzilla when you fight anguris you get the 55 design
This game was on TG16 CD!! Damn, I wish I knew this 25 years ago! I would have bugged my dad for it, he was down to buy the CD, but I didn't know what games to buy in it!
I LOVE how James gets to master the game through the video.
the Ghidorah fight was awesome
Been watching you guys for years, still just as entertaining!
At the end of the game the final boss you get is dependent on how many points you got. So you got the crappiest boss because you only got around 300000 points. I'm guessing not understanding the quiz sections has a lot to do with that. Definitely a lot of replay value here.
Unlocking Super MechaGodzilla II was the hardest thing in any video game I’ve ever played not having the Trivia bonus points like the Japanese version made it near impossible it was so frustrating luckily there is a cheat for people who don’t wanna go through hell to get him unlocked
I love how James didn't even realize that he'd beaten the game!
23:30 How is nobody talking about this epic comeback from James while casually talking about Godzilla. What a fight!
Sweet! Still psyched you guys are still making all the videos (Nerd,James and mike,Monster Madness, Mike and Ryan and all the playthroughs!) I love the story driven stuff like board james too. This calls for the jet jaguar celebration music at the end of godzilla vs megalon!
"The Flying Battleship."
ITS BIG AS A BATTLESHIP!
Deep_wolf irk surprised they didn’t say that reference lol
How could they miss that?!
I was hoping for a fight against the Giant Claw
It's was very breif, and they just missed that.
I'm surprised they didn't mention the giant claw
I'm glad James is finally starting to learn to read Japanese after all these years. I've always thought it was a no-brainer given so many of his passions.
Moguera? That was clearly Megalon
JET JAGGA
JET JAGGA
YATTA JAGGA AA
Yeah I meant to say Megalon -Mike
Every time James says "Super 'intendo" a puppy drowns.
Love the James & Mike Mondays...the stories you guys tell while playing the games are the best, and I find myself rooting for James or Mike to beat the level. Never thought I would like to watch someone play a game, but watching you all is very entertaining. Excellence sheer unadulterated Excellence !!! Brilliant , Im absolutely addicted to everything you all do , have to say I am missing the Angry Video Game Nerd, need more soon. Adding the AVGN to any day makes it all worth seeing.
About a year ago, I obtained DVD/blurays of all the Godzilla movies and marathoned through them all. An amazing series and I can definitely see why James loves it so much.
Most of the monsters are locked in VS mode until you've beaten NORMAL mode.
I also feel the pain of not playing such awesome Godzilla games in the 90s.
it blows my mind how you guys havent played WAR OF THE MONSTERS YET!! its the ultimate monster/giant robot classic monster movie fighting game
War of the Monsters is so much fun.
Knock off Kaiju are still fun
I don't get why people are _that_ excited about that clunky mess of a game. The kaiju aren't even that big.
I like how Godzilla looks different depending on the monster and when he fought them
I didn’t skip the ad because I love y’all
holy moly, been waiting forever for you guys to play this!
its cool how the godzilla sprite changes to fit the movie, he is more cartoony in some films
You know what's REALLY awesome about this game? Godzilla's appearance changes depending on the monster you fight to match how he looked in that particular movie! That is a major detail that probably went overlooked by many.
I just realized that Godzilla's design changes based off of the monster your fighting to match the movie.
I love Godzilla content. Thanks.
It'll be cool if there's ever a Shin Godzilla game I'd wanna see James play! Maybe with John, I wonder if he's into movies 🤔
It's always great to hear you guys talk about Godzilla awesome vid
Loved that review James. Great stuff.
James make a video teaching basic Japanese reading skills! That is so awesome that you have progressed so much!
In the late 1970's we lived in Alasaka. Every Sunday all the kids would get dropped off at a single screen theater. It showed Godzilla and Kungfu movies all day. Starting at 9am going to 4 or 5 pm. It was so fun. The kids took over the movies.
Mike is so good with always remembering the nerd episode numbers
Mike just casually asking you Godzilla trivia while you're playing this freaking hard game and you're handling it perfect
This looks pretty badass: great graphics and animation, nice music and sound fx. The sprites look a bit small, but that’s a minor complaint. I would’ve loved this game if I had played it in 1993.
Ducky from pretty in pink has aged well
Thank you for the upload, very much appreciated.
James never ceases to impress me. The guy could of been such a huge Hollywood movie maker if he ever moved out to LA!
Finally a Godzilla game wish you would do more
Just noticed the attention to detail which is awesome. Like when he's fighting the smog monster you can see in the background the military shining lights to get Hedorah's attention into their trap.
it's so sad to imagine if this game came out in the right time,
then little james would spend countless time to play this game with full face of happiness and joy...
but he was born too fxcking early...
Did anyone else notice that the Godzilla character changed depending on who he was fighting so it matched with how he looked in the films? I felt that was the nicest touch!
Using "block" will cut the difficulty in half...
love James and Mike Mondays
I remember watching those Godzillathon videos back in 2008. Man I miss those days.
YESSS!!! Your Godzilla videos are the best!
i love how every single memory these guys have is game related
“Yeaaaaaah” - James
“Yeaaaaaah” - Mike
I remember emailing James about Shin Godzilla and letting him know Hideaki Anno, the director, is a very story driven person and his best know work Neon Genesis Evangelion (My favorite anime) does similar things so expect little action here and there and be ready for it to be super story driven. Im glad to see that James and Mike can appreciates Shin Godzilla for it is! I was worried a lot of people wouldn't enjoy it for being mostly story driven.
In '92 in the military they had a mountain of Turboduos at the PX and they always had dozens of new import and english titles as released. They also were big in mega drive sales and just every import game you'd want. The strange thing is the PXs I would shop at never had much in the way of Nintendo or SNES, they did later carry all of the Neo Geo, Jaguar, the Lynx, The Saturn, the Dreamcast, just not much Nintendo. So through the 90's I just didn't play SNES much. I had a friend who did have TONS of import Super Famicon and instead of removing the top loader fins in the console he'd always shave slots into the cartridges.
Kaiju Kaiju Kaiju love it so much fun and so much nostalgia you guys are awesome thank you for all you do.
How'd Mike not know about the NC / Nerd crossover?
nibba goin thru alot rn
redroversk I mean, the video has over a million views, so you're quite obviously just wrong.
I love the choice in games you guys choose to review! a lot of them are games I only played as a kid and no one else I know even has a clue about what Im talking about when I try to describe them. Like I was pretty sure I made up this game and developed false memories around it until now seeing this xD
When they moved the cursor over Rodan and the description read "The Flying Battleship", I busted out laughing.
Time to geek out! Thanks James and Mike!
Person watching me play a fighting game: "Do this move! Do that move!"
Me: "Shut the fuck up!"
You're pretty talented and should upload more videos, guys. I'm sure people would like it
Someone should make a Godzilla fighting game with all the canon characters with these looking sprites
Review the new Godzilla movie Godzilla:Planet of the monsters, it's on Netflix! It will be a trilogy, the second movie comes out later this year.
Don't bother. That Godzilla movie is horrendous.
bigevilworldwide1 Toho will make more Godzilla movies after the anime trilogy.
Joe Blow no problem man, I hope James and Mike watch it and review it, would love to hear their thoughts!
Toho are contractually obligated to not make another live action godzilla until the deal with legendary is over in 2020. I haven't read anything about toho funding the US films in the future
It was so bad, I even went in with low-expectations seeing the reviews and it still sucked... I swear it’s like someone wanted to make an anime parody it was so overdramatic, godzilla doesn’t even appear until over an hour until the film... legit there is less than 30mins left when they start fighting, and also it’s called planet of monsters but there’s literally just godzilla and those random flying creatures.... they all look like literal stone turds too btw
Damn, Godzilla's atomic breath might as well be a lightsaber from Masturbators of Teras Kasi.
Though it still was on par with the other 16 bit consoles, the PC Engine CD did provide with some nifty extras like those animated intros, lots of digital audio samples, and very big and detailed sprites! I mean just look at Gidora, it's freakin' huge! And every monster has very detailed body with all the scales, for the year 1992 those graphics were just nuts. PC Engine/Turbo Graphix were such underappreciated gems! You guys should play some of the bomberman games, the pcengine got quite a few of those and theyr're amazing fun,
There memories betray them! Megalon was mistaken for moguera twice.
Great video guys. Like always, you make monday tolerable!
Godzilla's heights throughout the franchise always vary.
In the Showa series ('54-'75.), both the original and second Godzillas were 50 meters (164 feet.).
In the Heisei series ('84-'95.), Godzilla's heights (discounting the original's height in '54.), were 80 meters (262 feet, '84-'89.) and 100 meters (328 feet, '91-'95.).
In the Millennium series ('99-'04.), it was inconsistent because of all the new continuities. So here's a little rundown of each;
'99: 55 meters (180 feet.)
'00: 55 meters (180 feet.)
'01: 60 meters (196 feet.)
'02-'03: 55 meters (180 feet.)
'04: 100 meters (328 feet.)
(And before you ask, yes, in spite of the reuse of the suit, the '99 and '00 Godzillas were completely separate individuals of different continuities.)
And there ya go, James.
And one more thing;
GODZILLA VS. KING GHIDORAH DIDN'T CHANGE THE TIMELINE.
For a future James & Mike Mondays, I'd like to see you play some of the Lightspan games for the Playstation. The AVGN episode on the Lightspan games was really good.
I just realized the timespan 1960 to 1990 is the same length as 1990 til today. Time flies.
Love these Godzilla videos!
Pc engine and pc engine cd best consoles of their time, and my favorite consoles too (i own), im glad u begin to play those japan games, their are great !!!!
Pernico Pernico Na Neo Geo was the best of it's Time
My favorite Godzilla movie is Godzilla VS Megalon. Mostly because it was the one that most commonly aired on UHF when I was a kid and I had to watch it every time.
Such a better series than Talk about Games.
Yeah honestly
Nice review James and Mike. :-) I have most of the Godzilla movies and the game you have on Super Famicom. Great that you are learning a little bit of Japanese language James. I can read some of it too, because i play a lot of the RPG games from Japan. Nice revew guys :-)
I love Godzilla. I like when you guys talk about it.
Did james just clutch the fuck outta that mecha godzilla fight though!
go ji ra !!!!!!!!!
Ko ji ra!!!
ゴジラ
di-ar-rhea!!!
Macku Attack
KHAAAN!!!
You should totally review the new godzilla anime movie, and bring back movie fridays!
yeah i also miss the movie friday videos... :/ but i think James cut that out cause he's working on a bigger project
yes i still want to know his opinion on shape of the water. And yes probably he is working in something else, i mean its not like i'm mad at him or anything. I just state what i want as a fan so he knows, and then decides what to do. It doesn't matter what content he makes, i'm going to give it a fair shot. xd
I actually remember enjoying that NES Godzilla game when I was a kid.
Man, that stage select music is awesome.
great game
like a Primal Rage ..
btw Primal Rage released on all systems
Hey James and Mike! I've been watching your content since about 2008, and I'm a big fan of it all. If you guys take requests for this particular show, could you please play Star Fox Adventures? It plays just like Ocarina of Time. You don't have to play all the way through if you don't want to, since it's a pretty long game. Thanks for all the years of entertainment, and keep up the good work!
Hey James if you enjoyed Ultra Man, I TOTALLY recommend Zone Fighter. It was Toho's answer to Ultraman and Specterman and such. It has giant monsters and such but the kicker is Godzilla and other Toho monsters make appearances as allies to help them fight other monsters. Just imagine Ultraman, Ambassador Magma, and Power Rangers thrown into a blender and what you get is a crazy awesome smoothie. LOL
Mecha-mickey, something I never knew I needed, but definitely do.
Any old godzilla game reminds me of the depressing creepypasta of the NES version. Still the best 1973
shame the sequel never got finished.
The Godzilla Planet anime is absolute balls.
Avoid.
Agreed. Its absolutely horrible.
this is what I'm talking about guys!! Last 2 episodes huge sense of relief after that iPad game one!!
Godzilla's height changes by movie. From 1954-75 he was 50 meters (165 ft.), in 84-89 (80 meters), 1991-95 (100 meters or 328 feet), 1999-2003 (55-60 meters), 2004 (100 meters again), 2014 (107 meters), 2016 (108 meters) and 2017 (50 meters and 300 meters). Godzilla's continuity changes constantly the only really coherent series is the Heisei series (1984-1995) the rest are either a close continuity or not at all. For instance most movies at least reference the original, but Shin Godzilla is completely on it's own as is the anime movie.
How do people know this kind of information?
Not to be that guy, but technically Shin was 118.5 meters tall (really closer to 112.7 in his hunched posture) and 2014 was 108.2 meters.
James showed some skills in that mega godzilla fight.
When you mention godzilla for james, he can talk about it for weeks
There was an RTS game that suppose to come out on the SNES, this before Command and Conquer but after Dune 2, and the only thing I remember about it was that it was suppose to be a desert planet and the phrase "algae eaters"
I owned the Turbo Duo version of this game, AWESOME GAME. Took a while to unlock everyone.
You guys should come to G-Fest in the midwest in July. For three days they'll show kaiju films on a big screen. Nothing better than seeing tokusatsu or kaiju films on a big screen.
Wow it's a shame we never got this in the States. The graphics and gameplay are great, a top quality SNES game. Thanks for the showcase James and Mike. Cool to hear James is picking up Japanese, it's a fun language and the Godzilla and Gamera movies are better without the English dubs.
It’s a pc engine / turbografx game, no snes game.
Hey James, if you ever do watch Ultraman (at least the original series), would you be willing to do a review on it? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.
Awesome video guys!!
Mike: Thanks for watching!
James: Mnnnnnnnrrrrrrrnnnmmmmmmmp.
