Best sport in the world. I watched my first AFL game in 2020 and it is unbelievable how great Footy is. It is like the best of every other sport combined, and with a great history too. It's a shame, that it is totally unknown in Europe. Be proud of it. Greetings from Austria

@@alanpolwarth1072 Hard to say. It is a lot about sympathy for the team and their playing style, but it like Carlton, GWS played great in the last years (but no history and fans), and Bulldogs were the first team I liked 3 years ago.
I have to tell you that from my point of view it's not popular in North America either. I sort of stumbled upon this. I don't understand any of this. I am seeing these spectacular moments with no reaction because I don't know why they are spectacular.

Pure AFL magic from start to finish. Incredible moments to cherish.
Great compilation. I watched it all the way through in the vain hope that the Dockers could get one, just one highlight: Tony Modra’s mark of the year. Or Luke McPharlin’s.. Winston Abraham’s goal of the year. Or Hayden Ballantyne’s. Quenton Leach’s kick after the siren. Or Jeff Farmer’s. Or Justin Longmuir’s. Or David Mundy’s. Or Michael Walter’s.
But alas, no.
Sigh.
Felt the exact same, it felt like we were deliberately left out.
Yeah all of our after siren or last minute goals to win, a goal of the year, most dominant preliminary final perfe romance until Melbourne this year and not a single one. The creator of this 👎🏻
100% should of had hill running down the wing and sealing the win against Geelong at gmhba in the semi, that was an unreal win
Or when Mundy kicked a goal after the siren to beat Richmond, did the exact same thing exactly a year later to Richmond again.
I’m a Richmond supporter so it hurts but it was unreal to see him do it twice.
@@dylanryder4427 I was at that second one at the G when they kicked a goal to hit the lead with 23 seconds left then we took it from the middle, he marked and kicked after the siren. Best game to see interstate.
...have been watching VFL / AFL starting with the beginning of ESPN in the 70s, when this was one of the only sports to which they had access; one could take the ENTIRE NFL and put them up against ANY AFL team and the AFL would run them into the ground; the best football based game ever.
I started loving AFL in 2024, now Im obsessed. Shows how much you can love a sport just from watching highlights. Rooting for Collingwood Magpies
Lol, don't say that out loud😂 Funny story, someone gave a famous singer who was playing concerts in Melbourne a Collingwood jumper and she wore it on stage and was booed off stage. No one told her there are 10 teams from Victoria and Collingwood is one of the least liked by all the other teams supporters. I'm sure she'll never do that again.

An amazing video, would love to see more Hawthorn videos of Dunstall and Matthews especially him knocking over the goal post that is memorable. I loved the background music and the way the video was laid out, very entertaining and a flashback bringing 30-minute video. Most of the general things we remember from the game we love to watch and play are shown quite well here, hardly anything missed. Good job!

Great compilation, the only thing I know I would've added is the '97 Grand Final. Doesn't seem like much now, but at the time when the rivalry between South Australia and Victoria was probably its most volatile, the Crows walked into the Final facing a heavily favored and certainly crowd-backed Saints.
One-way rivalry. People cheering for the Saints because they've won only one flag since 1873.
This was an amazing compilation 👍👏 but there was a lot more stuff that could’ve gone in as well. Good job!
I know that this might not be caught on video camera, but what about that Hawthorn 1976 Premireship and that photo with Peter Crimmins and his teammates that was taken at his home days before he tragically passed away from cancer?
I am sure that would have been one of the memorable moments going back in the 70s.

Some of my favourite moments are when clubs break long premiership droughts, like the Dees this year. That was amazing to watch 👺🟥🟦
Also, cannot wait to see what the reaction will be once the big Buddy Franklin kicks his 1000th goal and writes his name in the history books ✍️ 📚 🏉

I have no idea how many times ('ve watched this already but I do know I'll watch it a hell of a lot more. I'd challenge any sport on the planet to produce the sort of highlights reel that you've got here.
Blights monster kick to beat the Blues ..... has to be the greatest torpie of all time.
And of course......Shuey killing off the Powers dreams was awesome......But repeating the performance to give us the flag in 2018 against the Pies.... That was when I knew I had reached Nirvana.

My Dad’s favourite moment was the 1989 GF Hawthorn vs Geelong.

Well sone of the greatest moment that happens in the game in the last 20 years involves the Swannies , so it's all good.

Malcolm Blight. I'm 55 years old, and every moment in this video makes me want to shout my lungs out. But that impossible, monster torp after the siren to win the game in 1976, which I watched on telly as a kid, blew the roof off my house, and remains the most epic moment among a star-studded gallery of them.
If St Kilda had won the tied GF, Goddard's mark would go down in history up there with 'Jesaulenko, you beauty!'

Great to hear mate! Good to see more US fans getting around aussie rules. Personally I'd support the Swans mate, cause I go for them. Judging by your RUclips name, you go for the Steelers in the NFL. Their colours are yellow and black and so are the Richmond Tigers in the AFL, so you could support them cause of the same colours. Whatever is up to you though man! By the way mate I go for the saints in the NFL. #whodat :)
@@RilesMacca I’m a Vikings fan, we’ve never won a championship. I’ll support whichever AFL team has never won it all but frequently gets close enough to instill hope but then brutally smash it in the final moments of the match.

You should've dedicated the Dees entire 3rd Quarter 10 minute blitz against the Dogs. Best 10 minutes in AFL history. Bang, bang ,bang ,bang bang....so clean and perfect. Still brings tears to my eyes.

2005 Sydney win the grand final by 1 point. 2006 Eagles win the grand final by 1 point what a coincidence that both teams win by 1 point.

1994 GF: Peter Matera's goal from outside 50 on the run with Sandy Roberts' iconic commentary
1997 GF: Darren Jarman kicking 5 goals in the last quarter to seal the Crows first flag
1992 GF: First non-Victorian side to win the flag
1989 GF: any of the heavy hits and courageous acts from that game
1999 PF: Fraser Brown's famous tackle on Dean Wallis to win the game for the Blues

“LEO BARRY YOU STAR!!!” I will always remember being on the edge of my seat that whole game and he took that mark and I lost it, greatest feeling and first Sydney grand final win I got to experience, still gets me so pumped up
26:09 Chris Yarran was one of the best players for Carlton in a long time. His story after his short career is insanely sad. He stopped playing due to mental health issues, and was sentenced to five years prison in 2019 for stealing cars and attacking police under the influence of meth. He is 30 today, just imagine if he was still playing.
Edit: essentially the same thing happened to Jurrah. He just went out of control. It's insane.

As a St Kilda fan, I am absolutely traumatised at the amount of 4th quarter & last kick of the match losses we have had in finals games. Wtf is wrong with our team. No team is better at letting the fans down.

And consult some astrologers, psychics whatever to make the move on an auspicious date. St Kilda needs all the help they can get. Also looked up lists of saints (to see if there was some unfortunate, bedevilled saint that would account for their perennial misfortune). St Kilda was not included. So where does the name come from?

There's some Tiges content! Karmichael goal after the siren to beat us, Matty Whites running goal against us, the Jason MacCartney goal against us in his comeback game, and the GOTY that a lot of people didn't think should've been counted as a goal (the Jack Higgins goal against Collingwood). But other positive ones would be Sam Lloyd goal after siren to sink Swans, Michael Roach mark of the century, Chris Newmans monster goal against Freo, Cotchin spin and goal against Cats in 2017 qualifying, Michael Mitchell combo of goal and mark of the year in 1990

Of course you couldn’t fit everything in but hawks breaking the Kennet curse was a pretty big deal. They don’t go onto win 2013 let alone a 3peat if they don’t finally beat Geelong in that game
Yeah that Burgoyne goal and then "get the hearse for the curse" at the final siren (which you couldn't hear btw because the crowd was going ballistic)

My greatest moment my son beating numerous players to score 3 playing soccer and my daughter's 2nd game of AFL scoring 3 and doing a awesome tackle which lead to goal. Would love to show the video but can't.

Geez a bit stiff not having the 2017 Tigers breaking the 37 year drought as underdogs, I'd even put the 2020 flag also, which they won again with a 53 point turnaround in the wet with shortened quarters.
