Tales of trenzalore should be filmed once a year at Christmas and Matt should do it for ten years. I think watching him age a bit like the film boyhood would be really cool and allow him to interact with the best monsters from each series of doctor who that comes out over the next ten years.
100% yes to McGann and Trenzalore spin-offs! A dark Master thing could be really cool too, you could even have several different incarnations with their own episodes over a series. And I’d love to see Alex McQueen’s Master on screen!
That could be an excellent vehicle to introduce new characters, potential companions. Even establish them so that if they then die in the main show, there's more impact. Such as Ross, rather than just anonymous soldier Greyhound Forty.
One idea I very recently had for a spinoff would be one based around a pre established organisation in Doctor Who (eg: Space Security Service from Mission to the Unknown/Dalek Master Plan or the Time Agency). In part, this would be a way to use certain classic monsters to their full extent, such as through a great focus on the body horror aspects of Cybermen or having large scale conflicts involving major factions like Sontarans or Daleks.
Which story you want to get an adaptation , for me it's the elder gods arc , death in family, jubilee, storm warning, primeval, blood of the daleks, and many more
So the good thing about Ace is, of you read At Childhood's End, she also has a kind of Batcave, and she obtains, captures, and either uses, disposes of, or disables bits kf alien tech that lands on earth. That's a show premise in itself right there.
Definitely need more Paul McGann! I also liked your Master spin off idea. I think it should be called 'Master Who'. Where we dive further into how the master wants to be the doctor and he turns up at places trying to save the day, people put trust in him, but he ends up saving his own skin when it comes down to it. And over time he comes to the realisation that he has more fun being evil and he's not the hero, but there's a place for him in the universe. That could then tie into the main show where the master turns up with an evil plan.
@@Paul_1971 it just seems that way because let's just face it they haven't really announced anything to do with 8th all we've been hearing is rumours saying that he could come back or that he might and yet all we got is a chibnall version of him
@@Paul_1971 I just want an original spin off and not the same crap I really don't want torchwood back because it's a spin off that doesn't need a sequel I want them to acknowledge Sarah Jane's death by a funeral and maybe build off of that give luke a character arc instead pushing him off to the side maybe his mums house is given to him
A series with Paul McGann is a no brainer, they should have done that years ago. The Tales of Trenzalore sounds really interesting too. Here's my personal choice for a spin off: The splinters of Clara saving the Doctor in his timestream or the Adventure of Clara and Me wandering around the Universe in their Tardis. I know half of the Internet would explode at the mere suggestion of either of those but I think either one would be compelling and have untapped story potential. Maybe The spinters of Clara could be a limited series because she could only save the Doctor so many times, maybe one episode per each incarnation of the Doctor, but there are stories there to tell. The practical issues of bringing back the Classic Doctors might be an issue techinically speaking, plus getting Jenna Coleman to come back now that since she's a more well know and in demand actress may hamper a live action version of this, but at least a Big Finish series in the future could be possible if nothing else. Thoughts anyone?
I'd like to see a Paternoster Gang spin off, allowing historic London to be used as a setting, and simplified make-up allowing a few familiar stories to be told of Madame Vastra's detective agency, and the mysteries she faces. Obviously Ace is an ideal companion, for a similar role to Sarah Jane, perhaps encountering problems with her 'A Charitable Earth', work drawing attention to humanitarian works, and those seeing it as continuing the path of a successful human development. If I were to imagine a Torchwood-esque more mature offshoot. I'd have to dump the unfortunate obsession with sex, and rely more on the graphic aspects or darker consequences of certain stories. For me, 'SJA' felt more mature than 'Torchwood' for that reason, with certain stories about disappearing homeless, rather than wayhey, we can swear now, and have sex! Countryside was interesting, hunting for alien interference, when the problem was human nature all along. I also like the idea of a failed humanity where the Doctor looks away, such as Children of Earth. Maybe a Clara set of one-offs, as she tries to tip the Doctor off to the danger of the Great Intelligence. Allowing episodes where she fails, to exist along side those where she succeeds.
As far as Paul McGann, I like the idea of it being in the run up to his regen and him growing closer to the opinion that he should take part in the time war, maybe debating it with himself. Maybe really not wanting to help the time lords of all people but seeing no choice. I dunno
The continuity of the show would be broken if Sacha Dhawan's Master interacted with the 11th Doctor, in my opinion. How, for instance, could the 13th Doctor not remember his face if she had seen him in her previous 11 incarnation? Additionally, I like the 11th to fight other villains like the Silence rather than the Master.
I would have *LOVED* for Romana to have her own television series instead of a female Doctor. Romana is one of my favorite companions (particularly in her second incarnation) It would have been cool to see her in her own adventures with her own TARDIS her own companions etc.
1 - 8th w/Liv & Helen! Would love that!! Or Bliss! Bliss is an amazing companion. But perhaps sometime between the 2 periods would be best as it doesn't get too heavily bogged down in Time War stuff which would require new fans to be subjected to tons of exposition. 2 - Ace series is a good idea. I love Ace/Dorothy. She worked with the kids from Class in the Big Finish spin-off of that. With Mel working for A.C.E. too she could guest star from time to time, along with other companions from the support network. I would love to see Clyde Langer return to one of these series too, now as an adult. 3 - If there is a Master series, it has to either embrace the evil like the War Master audio series, or turn the Master into an anti-hero like Missy was becoming. I would love for the incomparable Michelle Gomez to return to the role!! Or whoever she regenerates into. (I think Sasha Master only works if we think of it as being what Simm changes into since the persona is so similar, and all the character progression of Missy was just ignored, which was one of the 2 most jarring things about the Chibnall era. Also the insane actions of Sasha could be the reason for a more regretful Missy, which would make more sense of the Master's entire timeline if you really ponder upon it.) 4 - Torchwood is covered already and Big Finish has taken that over fully. What they should do instead is a UNIT series. An All NEW UNIT! I don't like the Trenzalore idea very much, I think that whole mess is over and done and best left alone. It requires too much backstory for potential new fans to grasp onto. Finally all these ideas bake in the past and what RTD may do is tie in something completely new. We had no notion of Torchwood when the 2005 series began and so what spins off may be something we don't even have any idea about yet. For all we know the Doctor goes to a new planet with Very Interesting people with loads of story potential, and That's where RTD takes us.
I'm all in favour of bringing back Gwen Cooper in a new Torchwood. Martha Jones taking the Captain Jack role is a good call but maybe by the time it was made he would be 'ok' again. Your choice of the Tranzalore spin off I think has zero chance of happening because I don't think Matt Smith would do it.
Here's my list of thirteen potential TV spin-offs Doctor Who could do under the new RTD2 era: 1. 8th Doctor TV Series (Before and during the Time War) 2. UNIT Series (Similar to Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) 3. The Time War (An animated series similar to Star Wars The Clone Wars starring Jonathon Carley as the War Doctor) 4. The Daleks! (Either a live-action or an animated series) 5. The Paternoster Gang (A TV show targeting younger audiences on CBBC and Disney+) 6. The Master (A TV series focusing on one or more incarnations of the Master) 7. Tales of Trenzalore (A special one-off series staring Matt Smith Eleventh Doctor on Trenzalore) 8. Gallifrey (A Live-action political drama in the same vain as Game of Thrones and Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister and a spiritual successor to Big Finish Gallifrey audio series) 9. River Song & Bernice Summerfield TV Series (a show staring the universe's favorite archaeologists) 10. Doctor Who the Anime Series and Manga range (An anime series and Manga range made in Japan featuring various Doctors, companions, monsters, villains and characters from the Whoniverse in the anime style) 11. Torchwood Revival (A continuation from Torchwood: Miracle Day) 12. Doctor Who Unbound TV series (Either a live-action or animated series of "What If" scenarios and alternate Doctors from the Doctor Who' Multiverse) 13. Faction Paradox TV Show (A show staring members of Faction Paradox in a post-Time War era. NOTE: Not made by BBV!)
i would only do three spin offs. the first one for an adult audience on the Unit, i imagine a violent, and dramatic series in which several Doctors could appear. the second one for a teen audience starring Donna's daughter, i imagine a series similar to Class, with Rose and her friends struggling with mysteries. finally the last one for kids i would do in the cartoon format, with a steven universe or adventure time style of drawing, an animated series that has no connection to old characters, but at the same time gives a sense of familiarity through the settings and alien races.
I'd pitch an anthology series of different stories set in the Whoniverse (similar to 'Black Mirror' or 'Star Wars Visions'). Also, Yasmin Finney's Rose would be an ideal character to show up in one of the spin-offs you mentioned (either in the Ace spin-off or the Torchwood revival, especially since Donna knows Martha).
We haven't even seen the dude who plays the new Rose properly in the role yet to make assumptions on what would be ideal. I still find it odd they picked a guy in drag to play the new Rose but I figure he's not really the actual Rose Tyler lol.
@@XconsigliereX they didn’t pick a “guy in drag” they picked a trans woman and obviously they’re not the real rose tyler, they’re Donna’s daughter and the name is homage to Rose Tyler and is proof she remembers in some capacity.
I could honestly see a Tales of Trenzalore spin off show happening maybe it could just a limited series perhaps make it six episodes long or you could even do Tales of Trenzalore as a animated series?
These are all great ideas! Awesome video! I'd really like to see a two part multi-Master episode in the Master Series with Michelle Gomez, John Simm, the War Doctor and Sacha Dhawan's Doctor. Maybe, they could put the Timeless Child BS to rest and show that the Master was manipulating the Doctor all along? The Trenzalore series is an awesome idea! Especially since Matt Smith could just age naturally. Maybe they can afford to pay Matt Smith with some of this Disney money. A Martha Jones led Torchwood series could be awesome! Maybe we could un-cancel Captain Jack while we're at it and bring him back every once in a while? It would be cool down the road to see how Captain Jack becomes the face of Boe. Anything at all with Paul McGann would be amazing. I would even be okay if it were an alternate timeline or something like that to explain the aging. Maybe something happens during the Time War (on purpose or by accident) that splits off a separate version (or versions) of McGann's 8th Doctor (like a Valeyard type of charatar) allowing him to pop up anywhere in the Doctor's timestream, but maybe this character isn't born from the negative aspects of the Doctor and instead works to help the Doctor with or without the Doctor's knowledge of him? Also, how about a series with Rose Tyler and the Meta Crisis Doctor in Pete's world? They could be older and have children, etc.
All I want is a McGann spinoff that does not even slightly reference the time war. No hinting at it even. Just fin high-concept sci-fi ideally. If they do pull from big finish, I'd love to steal from the early main range with Charlie rather than later BF 8.
I had a possible idea about how Torchwood could come back with new characters and pay homage to the past. The idea is that group of kids stumble upon the old hub and learn through a hologram of Captain Jack what Torchwood is and what the reason is that they were 'chosen' to continue the teams legacy. As the series continues, they confront new monsters but also meet some old ones and they are given information about these monsters by the holograms of old Torchwood members as well as people who experienced it, as an homage to the original series. I'm also thinking that the hologram idea would mean that all JB footage is just him in front of a greenscreen and minimizes his involvement for anybody who still has an issue after the allegations made against him.
I would love it if we would see the Sarah Jane cast all grown up. Perhaps they could join Torchwood/some similar organisation, lead the next generation of kids or even just go their separate ways. Whatever happens it would nice to just see them again
Rani is getting her own Big Finish series, 2 box sets planned so far, I preordered them the other day, so yeah I'm on board with this idea! I always thought they should become proper companions someday, especially Clyde!
I agree about 8th Doctor pre the Time War. I'd want a spinoff with the Fugitive Doctor. I liked the reveals she had in Flux and I'd want a return to those characters. I'd be into a Jenny and River Song spinoff. The Doctor's wife mentoring the Doctor's daughter sounds fun. The Paternoster gang could also work. Susan had a son and was involved in the Time War so you could use them as a replacement for 8 in the Time War. If Tennant didn't come back as #14, I wouldn't mind checking in on Metacrisis and Rose on Pete's earth. The Master is a fun choice. For the kid centered spinoff I'd do an animated show set from the perspective of a child raised by the Doctor. Since its animated you could use one of the classic Doctor's. As a kid I was a big fan of Pokémon, Digimon, Avatar the last Airbender so this is in that vein. Plus I think the Doctor is more at home in a family dynamic. Which is why Donna and wilf are my favorite revival companions.
Sophie also did quite a few CBBC stuff back in the late 80s and early 90's so her working with kids does make a lot of sense. Edit: I've always thought that the Dream Lord was really a proto version of the Valeyard, and the "Tales From" idea could allow us to see the creation of the Valeyard as a result of the new set of regenerations the Doctor was given, that could even be another reason why he ran off after the new regeneration took hold. to try, and fail, to stop the Valeyard getting away. And a bit off topic, but a crazy thought for future Doctor Casting. Sacha Dhawan as the Doctor, possibly as a result of the forced regeneration on Jodie's Doctor having some lingering and very unwanted effects. Imagine, the Doctor looking in the mirror and seeing that face, and then really having to wonder "Am I good a man?"
As great as these ideas are, especially an 8th Doctor series. I think only the Master and Torchwood/UNIT idea would work in that if there were spinoffs I'd want them all to tie into or be directly connected into the plot from the main show, where you see characters from the spinoffs appearing semi-regularly in the main show, and then you may have the Doctor or an important character in the main show occasionally appearing in the spinoffs for specific reasons.... Stuff like Trenzalore sounds like focusing on the past too much and filling in gaps which only the more hardcore fan would get or enjoy, which would be filled in by Big Finish anyway. If you wanted to go in the past and add to something in the wider universe that isn't exclusive really to any particular Doctor like Trenzalore kind of is. I'd love a spinoff about the Maldovarium and alien black markets or something which could fit into a separate Time Agency spinoff or something for a relatively unknown concept....
Yeah, I agree, tying in to the main series w/crossover potential doesn't really work with all of these ideas of his. We need to look forward to what comes next, not have RTD revisit a Moffatt setting that's already been resolved, just because of nostalgia.
@@R_SENAL Agreed, leave the Trenzalore stuff for example to Big Finish... And it's not like you have to create absolutely brand spanking new stuff for connected shows to merge into the main show.... You can do Time Agency stuff, Torchwood stuff, Maldovarium stuff, maybe a Shadow Proclamation focused thing, or a Celestial Intervention Agency thing and get a taster of Timelord society without revealing the stuff that should be left to the imagination.... You can do already established stuff that just exists in general universe building contexts and isn't absolutely exclusive to one particular Doctor. That being said, I'd accept an 8th Doctor miniseries if it means providing said bridge as Tharries mentioned for classic to NuWho and seeing the gradual changes in attitude from classic Who to NuWho.... Maybe you could connect McGann to the current main show somehow.... Instead of just going back to a long ago Doctor and potentially confusing casual audiences of switching between the two. Have McGann regularly show up as a multi-Doctor story Doctor.... I don't know but I'm not opposed to a one off spin-off series of 8 if it means we then establish a new show completely afterwards....
Sophie Aldred has several children's shows to her credit including Corners (which she presented at the same time she played Ace in Doctor Who), Melvin and Maureen's Musicagrams and Words and Pictures.
My priorities would be: 1) An Eighth Doctor/Paul McGann series, though I’d set it right as the War was breaking out, like have the beginning of the series be just rumbles, but full-blown combat by the end 2) ACE: A Charitable Earth, kid-oriented 3) I love the Martha Jones Torchwood idea, though to me that’s the “mature”-pitched one 4) UNIT, with Kate, Osgood, and a few others, preferably with a guest appearance by Jo in the season 1 finale. UNIT has so much history! Bambera! Benton! Mace! Magambo! Let’s see some of them! (Dare I wish for Klein, Sato, or Matheson? Probably a little too complicated…)
David Bradley, Claudia Grant, Jemma Powell, Jamie Glover, Jared Garfield and Lily Travers as the First Doctor, Susan Foreman, Barbara Wright, Ian Chesterton, Ben Jackson and Polly Wright.
The McGann and trenzalore ideas sound interesting.. however I personally wouldn’t have a spin off starring another doctor because it would take the focus away from the doctor in the main show at the time. Also telling stories from the past would eliminate any chance for crossovers, which I think is the best thing about having a universe of spin-offs round the main show! I love when each show coincides with one another and there are little hints to show that they’re in the same universe❤️
For a Master series I think a different Master every story would work. It could have Sacha Dhawan, Michelle Gomez, John Simm, Derek Jacobi, Geoffrey Beavers and even Milo Parker's young Master. I definitely want to see Derek onscreen because he's the best Master but not enough people have listened to Big Finish for him to be appreciated, and I want the story with him to be written by Scott Handcock. For the kids spinoff it should be completely different to the SJA format. Maybe Ace or a different past companion could be running a secret school for alien refugees or something like that. As for Torchwood if Russell's doing it he should maybe use some of the ideas for characters which he used when contributing to Aliens Among Us and God Among Us.
here's something different, a bad idea: Reintroducing The Forge from the "Project" series within Big Finish's Main Range to get superheroes into the DWU. Now, I love the "Project" series, but the world has had enough of superheroes, it could possibly work at some point, but right now the market is too saturated with superhero stories.
I'd like seeing more Ace and Tegan working with Kate. I would love to know more about the backstory of the Master and the Doctor's friendship back on Gallifrey. How did they become mates? What happened between them which drove them apart? Are they related, like cousins or even wilder could they be actual brothers? What were they like? I think a lot of fans might be interested. I really liked Ruth's Doctor and Paul's Doctor.....any adventures with them would be awesome.
I could only see the 8th Doctor series as a limited series only. I would like an Ace series. BTW, I could see Graham pop up in that series because in Power of the Doctor, they were some flirtation between the two. Other series ideas would be with The Unit(and some way to include Osgood in it), Jenny aka The Doctor's Daughter and Donna Noble and/or her daughter Rose.
You got this bang on, dude. I’d watch the shit outta all of these. I mean, I’d watch all of them anyway, but all these ideas are great. I saw the McGann thing a mile off, but even so, that’d be killer!
Considering how well the various master series have been on big finish, I'll definitely be on board for a live action version. Also if we can get multi master stories like the two masters and masterful that would be awesome.
I would like to see a Paul McGann spinoff centred around the Time War. With the Kids one, how about something with the companions group being involved with trg a group of Teenagers? Master with Sasha, and I will throw in a left field choice to join him in his Tardis and that is Miss Quill from Class (the one decent character from that show) There where 3 Torchwoods set up, the one Jack lead, the one in London that was destroyed at the end of S3 and a 3rd one that disappeared without a trace, I would like to see a show about the missing one and its attempts to get back to Earth. Tranzelor sounds like a great idea but probably the least likely as it is too reliant on Smith being on board. Personally I would go a UNIT show with Kate, Osgood and Bonnie The Paternoster Gang could be another one
I could see a CGI dalek series being an interesting, and quite cheap series to make. Allowing their menace to build against other enemies than the Doctor. Their evil and malice being shown without them being so completely defeated by the Doctor each time.
I'm for all of these, particularly the Master show. Especially if they use it to show how Diwans Master fits in, ideally between Sims Master and Missy The other show I'd add is some kind of SJA continuation, mostly cause I want to see Luke back. You could also combine it with your Ace show idea, especially if Luke's actor doesn't want to do a whole show
I would still love that paternoster gang spin off. I am one of the two people who never got sick of them and bought the entire big finish series before realizing that i still want even more strax, jenny and vastra.
I actually mostly like all five ideas. I think the new version of Torchwood and the Paul McGann shows would be hits. I also like the Ace idea, with perhaps a few appearances from Graham? I think a Master series could work if they kept it to a limited series format. Maybe use different versions and/or other villains and make it an anthology. Trenzalore seems unlikely as Matt Smith is unlikely to return for an extended run on tv. Perhaps if he eventually joins the roster at Big Finish it could be done there. The new series spin-off I most want is River Song. (Alex Kingston is still very gung ho about the role) They could even start by figuring out a way to get her out of that computer (The Flesh as a body, with her mind?) in the main series and spinning off from there. I also think there are a lot of possibilities with a UNIT series that is kind of like an X-Files type of show and a Paternoster Gang show that is reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes.
R rated Mondasian Cyberman spinoff! The Cybermen are a concept that I feel are constantly underused due to Doctor Who needing to be a kids show, so they can't really focus much on the more horrific side of The Cybermen or else it'd be too messed up and dark to be on pre-watershed entertainment. But if it were a spinoff directed towards older audiences you could do the more horrific aspects of the cybermen the justice they deserve, such as the body horror, the loss of humanity etc. I reckon there could be some great potential there!
I’d first make sure that the main show is a resounding success, then think about a spin-off appealing to a mass audience. It and the main show need to make money. Niche stuff would be like throwing money out of the window. I can’t think of anything in the show at the moment that would a great series. Perhaps Doctor Who: Companions. Unit draws on the Doctor’s former companions for specialised missions.
It could be cool to see a Torchwood spin off which would have some episodes on international torchwood teams or maybe multiple torchwood spin offs with a crossover end and the other ones would be the international teams or like the international teams would join in to help through a video call ish type of thing like the subwawe network. ( and yeah sorry that i've been recently repeating stuff on the subject of international stuff so sorry for the spam and annoyance of that lol, if someone has noticed those chats/comments.)
When it comes to an ace series, with the character of ace I can see them doing a more deeper version of the Sarah Jane series, with ace not having a great childhood I could see it being a great way to tackle more difficult concepts. As much as I liked Sarah Jane it was a bit to kiddy and kids media have moved forward (although mostly in animation like avatar, she-ra and owl house but if those shows can tackle topics like abuse, social presures to conform, truma, the complexities of redemption, etc I don't see why live action children's show also can't do it) and is now more open to explore more complex topics with more depth, I'd like to see something other than just a low budget kids show with no depth and lightly touching subjects. There's just a lot that you can do with a kids doctor who show, especially with ace (who I could see taking in kids who like her don't have the best home life) and I would be disappointed if it just didn't.
Hmmm. Torchwood.... Shorts with the masters. Something like Sarah Jane's but which character would be hmmm... I dunno. Ace would be good for elderly guys like me. 🤔 I don't care much after all these years of unhappiness when I compare it to the first time I watched "Rose". And the feeling of pure bliss when I heard that epic opening theme
Thing is, you're not getting Freema or Matt back for these spin offs. Both committed to other shows. I love Torchwood but that's done now. I firmly think any spin offs will be entirely new properties. I'd take an 8th doctor spin off and a Jo Martin spinoff tho.
My top 3 The time lord anthology - an anthology of different companions and doctors through out/ after they have left the TARDIS this would be a 6 episode series and set up the whole idea of what the fans want let's say the 8th doctor ep is the most loved and rtd like ok let's make that a spin off Which brings me too 8th doctor book adaptation series ok so I feel the best way to make an 8th doc series is to adapt the books this way it's not treading on big finish toes and we all get to experience the 8th doctor books in a different format My final idea is time can be rewritten basiclly another anthology but a what if style version
We could now have a 3 Doctors story featuring 10, 14 and the Meta Crisis Doc. That would be rather confusing! I think rather than what the BBC needs to make, another question is what will Disney want? Every before 11 is in SD, and the classic series just wouldn't sit well next to all of the other 4K extravaganzas on the streaming platform. They'll want something that's as impressive as the MCU and Star Wars. I would love to see an anthology series that covered every Doctor, using the same tech that brought Luke Skywalker back and made us old fan boys cry like we were 11 again (there was just something in my eye, honest). I don't think remakes of original episodes would be right for it, they could be lost tales of the Doctor, with maybe an overarching thread running through each story, Bad Wolf style. So many of the new fans that are going to join the show now might not want to sit through grainy black and white television from the 60s, with the cardboard sets and seriously dodgy monsters, along with all the equally dodgy lines about smacked bottoms and the like. For a lot of them, even early nuWho will look a bit ropey, which is why Disney may not want to have any of it on it's platform.
Give the Cybermen a spinoff Give the Weeping Angels a spinoff Give the Ice Warriors a spinoff Give the Autons a spinoff Give the Zygons a spinoff Give the Sontarans a spinoff and Give the Macra a spinoff Please🙏🏻
I'm not sure a Doctor Who spin-off can centre around the Doctor (Albeit 8 or Ruth) without cannibalising the main show. Beyond being a framing device, the Doctor themself shouldn't be in it. Allowing the other characters to develop and take centre stage. For me, it would have to be focused around a companion. Doctor Who is qute capable of supporting both limited and open-ended expansion.
After the JB stuff came out I was like damn okay well we can have a darker grittier torchwood with Martha and Mickey as the team leads.... now can't even do that. Very annoying
I would have to wholeheartedly disagree with any past Doctors getting spin-offs that run concurrent with the main series. It would dimish the visibility of the current incumbent Doctor in favor of an obvious nostalgic fill-in-the-blanks narrative format that wouldn't really help drive the show forward in any meaningful way. Look, Paul McGann got cheated out of being the Doctor for a full Series. However, the best part of that is that he can be sprinkled in the live-action stuff and his time can be so open-ended and open to interpretation that he can be used so loosely in the main Series and other Spin-Offs and it doesn't affect his time-line that much. A Series would make his Time-line definite and less able to be played around with. Besides, didn't Night of the Doctor canonized all of Big Finish into the TV Series anyway?
Why not have a Torchwood reboot with Captain Jack played by a new actor? After all, we get a new doctor. There's no reason Capt. Jack couldn't have a new face. There could be a number of reasons how this could happen. I liked the Torchwood concept (spare me the personal dramas) so why not Jack with a new face? Face of Bo didn't look like John Barrowman.
It wasnt techniqally the Timelords that gave the Doctor his new regens. It was the former Gallifreyan high counsil. At the time being the new Guardians over time (protecting thier ascentions) as the Master (Jon Simms) burnt Gallifrey in the same moment it was frozen and they needed to secure that Gallifrey actully was taken into the void as it happend as thier ascention hangs upon both the fact Peter Capaldi was the former Doctor at the time MIssy tricked the Master into burning Gallifrey (using Rassilons Nightmare child plan to spite her out of existance (thus make her ascention come to be) (this includes Claras birth (the car missing her father (the new Black Guardian (former Master) was there; Hidden voice spoils that as car misses)

@@kennethnystrom593 OMG, That's all hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣 I appreciate you coming up with all that to entertain me, but seriously, if half of that were to be in the actual show or the spin-offs I'd be more upset than I was about the Timeless Child, and I quit the show over that! 😅 The only fan theory/cool idea I'd actually use from any of that were I in the writing of Big Finish, it would be the Metacrisis Doctor becoming the Valeyard cause that just dovetails perfectly. You know I suggested that to someone and they wanted to argue it was the Dream Lord and that Tennant 2 isn't a thing because he wouldn't count it as an incarnation because it was the same face. I destroyed this argument by postulating that a particularly vain Time Lord could in theory pull a Romana and choose to regenerate into the same looking body 12 times over and you wouldn't say they'd just had 1 Incarnation, that would be stupid, but they kept ignoring that I'd beaten them and never addressed my point, just danced around it, cause you know, people don't like being wrong or changing their minds.
Not against the idea at all but an 8 spin off at this point in the character's history is essentially going to be a new who spin off, and 8 is basically a new who character in his current position. 8 isn't part of the classic series anyway, the fandom crossover there comes from the 90s media which is already post New Adventures, it's more likely to have classic fan appeal but largely just because it's from an era where classic was most the franchise. Also, and I realise I'm just passing off ideas as if it's more important than it really is, but Ace is not the character to do kids aimed spin offs. Almost everything that makes Ace as a character interesting beyond being a punk teen (which she isn't anymore) is stuff that doesn't suit a kids tv show. Even back in the McCoy seasons, they left a lot of details to implication or to the novelisations that they would never have gotten away with on TV. And those seasons were a lot more "mature" than what the brand has become comfortable in recently. But Ace and her extremely troubled childhood full of racism and violence and abuse? Young kids tv show? Really? Ace calls herself that to cover up, she likes hitting stuff and blowing stuff up to cover up, her relationship with the Doctor is largely based around both of their worst impulses and their various insecurities and it got pretty messy and genuine. I won't go on and on but Ace just isn't the character to be the new SJA lead. If we got Ace just running around as if she were still a kid (like in PotD) it could be fine for an hour (like in PotD) but it would be a shadow of the character for a full series. And on top of that, I feel like Ace is too tied to Doctor Who in a way most Sarah Jane style companions aren't. She was heavily integrated into what DW was for almost a decade in the 80s/90s and was a huge part of the core narrative of DW for that time, and has never been absent from spin off material at all since then. It would be a bit like making a new Harry Potter spin off but making it about Hermione, it doesn't make sense.
@Tharries Hi there, this was a fantastic (pun intended) video. I was wondering do you do a podcast? Because ideas and talking are my strength. I am a long-term Doctor Who fan since 1987. I'd love to be a co-star on a podcast of yours's? In fact, I did my own radio show with Doctor Who as the focus many years ago. I had up to 10 people on some episodes. DOCTOR WHO SPIN - OFFS With Doctor Who getting a HUGE boost being exclusive outside the UK on Disney+ and Disney co producing it - they MUST be interested in extra Doctor Who content. This IS a pattern they have done for MCU and Star Wars so logically they would follow the same pattern with Doctor Who? BIG FINISH I believe Big Finish releasing Doctor Who spin offs all these years has been a testing ground for what could be done on TV. In fact, Marvel and DC have been doing the same. (Having storylines in one medium then a couple years later introducing them into film franchise) Doctor Who has had spin offs in the past which were highly successful so why not bring back Torchwood as well as introducing live action version of Big Finish series like "Stranded" or "UNIT - The new series"? It really is a waste not to take advantage of this at a time when it's the industry standard.
OMG, I forgot her name was Heather, I was just staring at my screen like: "Who?!" I can see them make it into a Big Finish maybe, as part of someone else's spinoff like River's or Jenny's, but I don't think there is enough there for a whole series for 2 characters from 5 years ago, that granted I really liked, but even I had to TARDIS Wiki to remember one of them properly.
Wow you talk fast :). I had 1.25 speed from on from a previous video, it was just right there and than it was like 2 x speed when you talk :). Which means you talk in a perfect speed :D
Just to clarify that the BBC aren't making the show anymore we know that it's bad wolf the BBC just own the IP and air it of course the Wales era of the show is over
@@ThetaSigma-vu1sk I mean bbc wales that's what I mean by wales era the bbc wales era of the show is over I know that bad wolf have the same people but it's a completely different company it is not at all related to bbc wales it's a company that's separate from the bbc that is based in Cardiff but look at nerd den he gets more things wrong then I do his videos are short and don't really go too in depth
I’m sorry but Ace’s actor’s acting was beyond poor in Power of the Doctor and if I had to face that again I’d choose not to- Ace as a replacement to Sarah Jane would not be good
but they wouldn't have John Barrowman. And the question comes in, would you want th Big Finish to be canon? because that changed a lot about the show with new torchwood team and Gwen's departure from Torchwood
Got to drastically disagree with Tharries, but you can't have a spin-off of Doctor Who with another Doctor! You would end up with two main actors competing, and what if the Paul Mcgann makes a bigger audience than Ncuti Gatwa? Can you imagine how bad it would be to the Doctor Who brand and the cast of the main show? And, by the way, i'm sorry, but an actor deserves nothing outside a paycheck and respect!
I personally disagree, you could have the other Doctor spinoffs while the main show isn't on air, plus people are used to different versions of the same character coexisting.
@@Tharries You never had 2 full series with 2 different actors at the same time, you know people would constantly compare them! I agree that now as much if they are not on air at the same time, but still... There's a good chance that YOU would do a video "Mcgann Vs. Gatwa, who's the better doctor RIGHT NOW???".
Tales of trenzalore should be filmed once a year at Christmas and Matt should do it for ten years. I think watching him age a bit like the film boyhood would be really cool and allow him to interact with the best monsters from each series of doctor who that comes out over the next ten years.
What a great idea!
I would jump for joy if Paul got an spin off. He deserves it.
I'd be happy if they just did adaptations of his audios, I don't even need new stories, I'll just be happy to see them on the TV screen.
@@charlestownsend9280 ' because the fans might get confused' what a lousy excuse that was!
100% yes to McGann and Trenzalore spin-offs!
A dark Master thing could be really cool too, you could even have several different incarnations with their own episodes over a series. And I’d love to see Alex McQueen’s Master on screen!
I'd like a UNIT spin off too. They could have their own stories that would occasionally intersect with the main show.
The Doctors daughter who flew off in a ship for more adventures. They could make a spinoff of that
Know what would be cool? Some animated Big Finish adaptations.
Or hell…just a McGann spin off XD
Or Matt smith during years on trenzalore XD
If Torchwood comes back, you need Captain Jack otherwise its not Torchwood. It'll be like Doctor Who without the Doctor
Got to have an 8th Doctor spin off! Good pitch - I'd be well up for that!
I just don't think that will happen with power possibly being his last appearance
@@kingemerald4622 Who's indicated it might be his last?
@@Paul_1971 it just seems that way because let's just face it they haven't really announced anything to do with 8th all we've been hearing is rumours saying that he could come back or that he might and yet all we got is a chibnall version of him
@@kingemerald4622 Well who knows what RTD has up his sleeve - he wants to expand on the Whoniverse, so never say never.
@@Paul_1971 I just want an original spin off and not the same crap I really don't want torchwood back because it's a spin off that doesn't need a sequel I want them to acknowledge Sarah Jane's death by a funeral and maybe build off of that give luke a character arc instead pushing him off to the side maybe his mums house is given to him
These are also great. I'd love to see an animated series in some form. ♥️
I've been calling for this for ages. 😅
As far as Paul McGann, I like the idea of it being in the run up to his regen and him growing closer to the opinion that he should take part in the time war, maybe debating it with himself. Maybe really not wanting to help the time lords of all people but seeing no choice. I dunno
I doubt that will happen we don't know if POTD will be his last or not we could luck out and get him in the 60th though again we still don't know
@@kingemerald4622 agreed. I just thought this was a fun idea.
We really need a Pete Tyler spinoff! How did he get so successful??
A Pete prequel would be thought without a recast
Trust me on this
Call it Pete’s World lol
The continuity of the show would be broken if Sacha Dhawan's Master interacted with the 11th Doctor, in my opinion. How, for instance, could the 13th Doctor not remember his face if she had seen him in her previous 11 incarnation? Additionally, I like the 11th to fight other villains like the Silence rather than the Master.
I would have *LOVED* for Romana to have her own television series instead of a female Doctor. Romana is one of my favorite companions (particularly in her second incarnation) It would have been cool to see her in her own adventures with her own TARDIS her own companions etc.
St. Cedd's
a spin-off about students having adventures with Professor Chronotis
Definitely love the ideas of Paul McGann, Ace, and Torchwood!
Also the insane actions of Sasha could be the reason for a more regretful Missy, which would make more sense of the Master's entire timeline if you really ponder upon it.)
4 - Torchwood is covered already and Big Finish has taken that over fully.
It may be obvious but I'd replace Torchwood with UNIT and also have Martha
Animation adaptation of bigfinish would be a great idea, any one ?
Hear, Hear!!!
Here's my list of thirteen potential TV spin-offs Doctor Who could do under the new RTD2 era:
1. 8th Doctor TV Series (Before and during the Time War)
2. UNIT Series (Similar to Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)
3. The Time War (An animated series similar to Star Wars The Clone Wars starring Jonathon Carley as the War Doctor)
4. The Daleks! (Either a live-action or an animated series)
5. The Paternoster Gang (A TV show targeting younger audiences on CBBC and Disney+)
6. The Master (A TV series focusing on one or more incarnations of the Master)
7. Tales of Trenzalore (A special one-off series staring Matt Smith Eleventh Doctor on Trenzalore)
8. Gallifrey (A Live-action political drama in the same vain as Game of Thrones and Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister and a spiritual successor to Big Finish Gallifrey audio series)
9. River Song & Bernice Summerfield TV Series (a show staring the universe's favorite archaeologists)
10. Doctor Who the Anime Series and Manga range (An anime series and Manga range made in Japan featuring various Doctors, companions, monsters, villains and characters from the Whoniverse in the anime style)
11. Torchwood Revival (A continuation from Torchwood: Miracle Day)
12. Doctor Who Unbound TV series (Either a live-action or animated series of "What If" scenarios and alternate Doctors from the Doctor Who' Multiverse)
I would absolutely love for Tennant and Piper to reprise their roles as the meta crisis doctor and rose in some capacity in the future.
I just want a River Bloody Song Spin-off
All I want is a McGann spinoff that does not even slightly reference the time war. No hinting at it even. Just fin high-concept sci-fi ideally. If they do pull from big finish, I'd love to steal from the early main range with Charlie rather than later BF 8.
Charlie is OK, but Liv is the Queen of 8th companions for me! Nicola Walker rocks!!
@@R_SENAL Liv's alright, mostly held back by a lack of many standout stories in the box set era.
Which is why Donna and wilf are my favorite revival companions.
loving your content recently. you seem to of really ramped it up of late! top job
I love the Torchwood re-imagining and the idea about Ace
My priorities would be:
1) An Eighth Doctor/Paul McGann series, though I’d set it right as the War was breaking out, like have the beginning of the series be just rumbles, but full-blown combat by the end
2) ACE: A Charitable Earth, kid-oriented
3) I love the Martha Jones Torchwood idea, though to me that’s the “mature”-pitched one
4) UNIT, with Kate, Osgood, and a few others, preferably with a guest appearance by Jo in the season 1 finale.
It messes with my head that the Twelfth Doctor is November
Derek jakobi is incredible the few seconds he was on screen in utopia as the master where fantastic and the war master series is incredible.
here's something different, a bad idea:
Reintroducing The Forge from the "Project" series within Big Finish's Main Range to get superheroes into the DWU.
Agree with you about the eighth doctor, build up to the time war is the exact place to set this.
A LINDA beginning would be good.
I'm dying for a on screen Time War!
The Cancelled Dark Dimensions would be prefect too
You got this bang on, dude.
Master with Sasha, and I will throw in a left field choice to join him in his Tardis and that is Miss Quill from Class (the one decent character from that show)
There where 3 Torchwoods set up, the one Jack lead, the one in London that was destroyed at the end of S3 and a 3rd one that disappeared without a trace, I would like to see a show about the missing one and its attempts to get back to Earth.
Tranzelor sounds like a great idea but probably the least likely as it is too reliant on Smith being on board.
Personally I would go a UNIT show with Kate, Osgood and Bonnie
The Paternoster Gang could be another one
Anything with Paul McGann... in his words from the Five (ish) Doctors, “whatever they are planning, I’m in!!” ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I would love to see a live action Dalek spin off series
I could see a CGI dalek series being an interesting, and quite cheap series to make. Allowing their menace to build against other enemies than the Doctor. Their evil and malice being shown without them being so completely defeated by the Doctor each time.
I'm for all of these, particularly the Master show. Especially if they use it to show how Diwans Master fits in, ideally between Sims Master and Missy
The other show I'd add is some kind of SJA continuation, mostly cause I want to see Luke back. You could also combine it with your Ace show idea, especially if Luke's actor doesn't want to do a whole show
I would still love that paternoster gang spin off. I am one of the two people who never got sick of them and bought the entire big finish series before realizing that i still want even more strax, jenny and vastra.
They should just collaborate directly with Big Finish, give them a budget and make animations for their audio dramas.
I absolutely love the idea for the ‘Master’ show! Although I’d definitely want to see John Sim and Michelle Gomez the most
I’d first make sure that the main show is a resounding success, then think about a spin-off appealing to a mass audience. It and the main show need to make money. Niche stuff would be like throwing money out of the window. I can’t think of anything in the show at the moment that would a great series. Perhaps Doctor Who: Companions. Unit draws on the Doctor’s former companions for specialised missions.
A Martha Jones spin off? I LOVE it!!
Great ideas. Got me excited again for the Doctor.
I won't mind seeing a anime style torchwood 2 mini series ( the one before the main torchwood tv show)
These are some great spin off ideas , love the McGann and Smith ideas in particular
I'd love a doctor who version of star wars visions all anime/Japanese style
Hmmm.
Torchwood....
Shorts with the masters.
Something like Sarah Jane's but which character would be hmmm...
I dunno. Ace would be good for elderly guys like me. 🤔
I don't care much after all these years of unhappiness when I compare it to the first time I watched "Rose". And the feeling of pure bliss when I heard that epic opening theme
Can someone explain the john barrowman thing to me please it's gone over my head
Paul McGann spinoff let's go!!!!
And Tales of Trenzalore!
How is NO ONE wanting a 1000 Year War series? Imagine seeing how the Kaleds Vs Thals start??
Maybe a UNIT spin-off that has international cast
Thing is, you're not getting Freema or Matt back for these spin offs. Both committed to other shows.
I love Torchwood but that's done now. I firmly think any spin offs will be entirely new properties.
I'd take an 8th doctor spin off and a Jo Martin spinoff tho.
My top 3
The time lord anthology - an anthology of different companions and doctors through out/ after they have left the TARDIS this would be a 6 episode series and set up the whole idea of what the fans want let's say the 8th doctor ep is the most loved and rtd like ok let's make that a spin off
Which brings me too
8th doctor book adaptation series ok so I feel the best way to make an 8th doc series is to adapt the books this way it's not treading on big finish toes and we all get to experience the 8th doctor books in a different format
My final idea is time can be rewritten basiclly another anthology but a what if style version
No Torchwood without Jack. I love Gwen and Martha but without Jack it´s half the fun.
Give the Cybermen a spinoff
Give the Weeping Angels a spinoff
Give the Ice Warriors a spinoff
Give the Autons a spinoff
Give the Zygons a spinoff
Give the Sontarans a spinoff
and
Give the Macra a spinoff
Please🙏🏻
I'm not sure a Doctor Who spin-off can centre around the Doctor (Albeit 8 or Ruth) without cannibalising the main show. Beyond being a framing device, the Doctor themself shouldn't be in it. Allowing the other characters to develop and take centre stage. For me, it would have to be focused around a companion. Doctor Who is qute capable of supporting both limited and open-ended expansion.
How about a Clara and Ashilder going back to Galifrey the long way round post hell bent?
My money is on that it was Rose/Romana/New White Guardian/Santa that gave him his new regens.
WTF? 🤨Did you put different show stuffs on strips of paper and pull them from a hat?
@@R_SENAL Not at all.
We know the Doctors entire life already.
How his parents meet,
How he grew up.
How he became the Doctor.
His time as the Doctor
How he stopped being the Doctor
How he became the emperor Trajan
How he became President over our mankind(as we slowly become the rulers over time.
His time as said President.
His final days
His ascention
His banishment from the ascended beings group
His "time" & end as ascended being.
We already knew all that from the show.
Because of the never ending flow of the multiverse where everything is on an eternal repeat for each new whoniverse leading to the same outcomes. (just with different details leading to the same outcomes)
=We know our (classic whoniverse) Doctors entire life from precious and later whoniversis Doctors.
The Celestail Toymaker, Rassilon & Clara.
Clara became the new Doctor (Rings of Akhaten; the burning terraforming former Gallifrey)
Our Doctor became what Rassilon was (1948 UN/Unit creation)
Rassilon what the Celestial toymaker was (at the end of the classic whoniverse)(End of time) and brought into the void
=
It is not random at all.
@@R_SENAL or did you miss Rose is Romana? And Romana is the new White Guardian? & that the White guardian is Santa?
(The moment told us Rose is Romana) (This form (implying plural forms) is from your past)
Romana being the new White guardian and mother to the Master
(Journeys End; Donna having same beating in her head as the Master (implies kinship) as she reaches for the hand that then creates The Matacrysis/Valeyard from inbetween his 12th (David Tennant version 2) incarnation and his final (Matt Smith)
=Rose .....
together with the End of time p1 and 2 Where we have 2 weeping woman one clearly related to our Doctor but infact related to both the Doctor and Master thus explaining why she saves both them and "later" her own ascention (White guardian is shown in End of time both parts)
+ & this is the real kicker.
It was the White guardian sending herself (the Bad wolf) to Amelia as Amelia prayed for Santa to send "help" in start of Eleventh hour..
@@kennethnystrom593 OMG, That's all hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣
I appreciate you coming up with all that to entertain me, but seriously, if half of that were to be in the actual show or the spin-offs I'd be more upset than I was about the Timeless Child, and I quit the show over that! 😅
The only fan theory/cool idea I'd actually use from any of that were I in the writing of Big Finish, it would be the Metacrisis Doctor becoming the Valeyard cause that just dovetails perfectly.
I realy hope we will see a UNIT spin-off show
Love the idea of a spin off, but can't see it.
Love you tharries
(Having storylines in one medium then a couple years later introducing them into film franchise)
Doctor Who has had spin offs in the past which were highly successful so why not bring back Torchwood as well as introducing live action version of Big Finish series like "Stranded" or "UNIT - The new series"?
It really is a waste not to take advantage of this at a time when it's the industry standard.
The one I want, but I think nobody else wants even though they should want it, is a romantic comedy about Bill and Heather.
OMG, I forgot her name was Heather, I was just staring at my screen like: "Who?!"
I can see them make it into a Big Finish maybe, as part of someone else's spinoff like River's or Jenny's, but I don't think there is enough there for a whole series for 2 characters from 5 years ago, that granted I really liked, but even I had to TARDIS Wiki to remember one of them properly.
I would love Ace and Jenny the doctors daughter to get a Spin off Each.
9th Doctor
Wow you talk fast :). I had 1.25 speed from on from a previous video, it was just right there and than it was like 2 x speed when you talk :). Which means you talk in a perfect speed :D
Goat
Paul McGann lost tales of a time lord
Just to clarify that the BBC aren't making the show anymore we know that it's bad wolf the BBC just own the IP and air it of course the Wales era of the show is over
the Wales era? you do know that Bad Wolf studios is in Cardiff, right?
@@ThetaSigma-vu1sk I mean bbc wales that's what I mean by wales era the bbc wales era of the show is over I know that bad wolf have the same people but it's a completely different company it is not at all related to bbc wales it's a company that's separate from the bbc that is based in Cardiff but look at nerd den he gets more things wrong then I do his videos are short and don't really go too in depth
Would take authenticity away from the show if there were multiple spin offs featuring past doctors, alongside the current doctor who imo
I’m sorry but Ace’s actor’s acting was beyond poor in Power of the Doctor and if I had to face that again I’d choose not to- Ace as a replacement to Sarah Jane would not be good
Just bring back torchwood un popular option torchwood season 1 to 3 were better than all of capaldis and jodies era
but they wouldn't have John Barrowman.
I can see a Master series on the likes of a "Loki" series!
