I did this repair . I used 22mm john guest plastic plumbing pipe. Because its stiff just pushed in bottom hole and could see the nipple at top hole pushed on tight fit then cut to length and add the rubber at bottom this was 7 years ago and no problems. Great job your way also😀

Very good how to guide. A very tricky job and saves taking the interior apart to gain access to the drainage tubes.

For those needing to clean their drain tubes I suggest a trombone cleaner, they are very cheap basically a flexible metal length with brushes top and bottom, insert at the top of the drain and push down then pull out the bottom.

Thank you. I have an issue with the MK3 and I know it’s different but this is still helpful.

Excellent video and instructions. I'm going to attempt similar on my '06 roadster this weekend - the original 'condom' style hoses are completely perished and full of debris. Such a terrible original design by Audi, the pipe used in your video would have outlasted the car!

Nothing will pass the pool hose piece. Water doesn’t soak into those. You will also get tons of debris stuck above it. Looked good until?

Hope your idea of the sponge works in stopping the noise. I didn't put any in mine when I did it a year ago, and it sounds like both wheel bearings have failed :-( Will remove the liner and add some.

It definitely works really well. It would be worth the effort to remove the wheel house covers and put them in afterwards.

I used the same reinforced hose and glued the lower rubber fitting to it. Now I can’t get the fitting to squeeze through the hole. How did you get it in?

This is really really helpful, as both sides of mine have gone, also need a patch welding where the drain holes once were. I would love to know if anyone in the UK could do this for me

Hello, does anyone know if there is a temporary fix for this until my parts come to repair this? Taping the side of the hood that meets the body etc?

Just look into the description under the video. There are links and descriptions to all material. 60.5cm tube on each side, inner diameter 20mm outer 27mm. Wish you full success!

Hi many thanks for this really helpful guide. What was the outer diameter of the tube please? Also what is the official name for this tubing with a wire construction please?
    Thank you very much
    Simon

That spec would be very helpful! When accessing amazon.de today it seems the original hose is no longer available; and I'm not even seeing one with 20mm I.D. in the pop-up list? Brauschau's technique improves upon a similar one I devised years ago: It made use of braided tubing 3/4" I.D x 1" O.D. [UPC 092503200667]. However I "think" the 3/4" I.D. was a hair too tight to go on drain pan outlet; so I [awkwardly] hose-clamped this intermediate adapter: www.amazon.com/Fernco-PDWC-100-Flexible-Dishwasher-Connector/dp/B000BQSYQU between drain outlet and tube. Would be much better to have straight shot with single-piece of properly dimensioned hose. Thanks!

The tubes are vacuum tubes, in my case food grade (but that is not needed). Outer diameter is 27mm. See also the links in the video description.
