Personally, I think the removal of the zapping system of RE2 and Live Selection of RE3 were the biggest disappointments in terms of changed content. Though, while Barry's changes in RE to RE1R were noticeable with his simpler interactions, I think RE2R deserves another spot on the list: the fact that you only see the other character twice throughout the entire game (once at the start, where they're waiting outside the gate, and once at the end, where they talk over a computer). In the original RE2, you felt the other character's presence. They'd call you on the radio, they'd meet you in certain hallways, etc. It felt like you were actually working together with them to find a safe way out of the police station.

      @Inblader 3 месяца назад +6

Clearly the biggest let down from the remake, the zapping system and the AB scenarios were tied together it felt satisfying to consider that both characters were facing different odds at the same time. In the remake it's either Claire's story or Leon's

I've never played the B scenario but the Idea of the zapping system actually blows my mind. In the remake, it doesn't matter what choices you do bc it doesn't link up but to b able to make decisions that affects the 2nd run actually makes sense and actually feels like both leon and claire is on the same place.

I'm glad someone else is saying it, Krauser is _really_ bad in Re4R. He was probably my favorite antagonist in the original series and they ruined everything that made him interesting here.
Krauser's backstory in the REmake is the Tom Clancy novel _Clear and Present Danger_ without Jack Ryan to save the American Special Forces soldiers. If you read a synopsis of the novel, or watch the film (which is not very good, incidentally; Harrison Ford was the worst Jack Ryan), you will see it's the same story.
Krauser's motivations further make no sense. In the original he was injured and discarded by the military and he's unflinchingly loyal to Wesker because Wesker _didn't_ see him as expendable, or at least, Jack didn't realize it. His motivations for serving Wesker make sense and you can tell he's frustrated he can't get Leon on his side. Krauser in the REmake is a willing convert to _Los Illuminados_ for...reasons and spends the entire game telling us how much he hates Leon, which makes it a bit absurd when Krauser insists they're two sides of the same coin, or that we're meant to care this asshole got himself killed.

Yeah I understand why everybody complains about it and I even agree with many of their complaints, but it doesn’t get under my skin like it does other people’s. Except for the Mimicry Marcus, I don’t know what the hell Capcom was thinking when they made them: they’re such a pain in the ass to kill, and God help you if you have to kill one and Rebecca’s the only character you’re able to use because you’re gonna die so many times until you finally manage to luck out and kill it.
Also a more minor complaint I have about the game is that Rebecca can be killed in way less hits than Billy, like to the point where if she’s hit three times it’s game over. I get that they’re trying to establish Billy’s the more physically stronger character of the two and Rebecca is more intellectually stronger, as seen with Billy not being able to craft herbs (which is admittedly pretty stupid too, if Chris can do it then Billy should be able to), but I feel like with health related mechanics it should be equal to the other character regardless of what would happen “if this was real” because there are moments in the game where they aren’t with each other and if you’re playing as Rebecca it can be really hard to get past certain enemies because of how easy it is for her to die.

    Few things i wanna say:
1: Resident Evil 1 is kinda more like a Remaster than a Remake cause aside from the changed dialogue and addition of Lisa Trevor, Crimson Heads and some areas, almost everything else is still the same.
2: I think the removal of spiders might be due to Arachnophobia and having it in such size and detail would panicked alot of people.
3: My biggest disappointment in RE2R was the zapping system too plus separate route, while it did remain almost separate during the police station, it becomes the same in the Nest, meaning whatever you did in Route A would be same in Route B where you also fight the same boss.
4: Removal of so many content in RE3R was the biggest disappointment, gone are the RPD, Clock Tower, park and giant worm boss fight.
5: Didn't quite like the new VA for Ada in RE4R but i think Remake version of Ada was alright, like the OG dress better though, unethical, but it looked good.
6: I would also agree that Nemesis in RE3R was disappointing. It felt more like a boss fight than a powerful enemy who stalks you, what was best in the OG is that you cannot 100% tell when and where he might appear outside of scripted events.

My personal gripes with the remakes.
    10. Stalker enemies, it was a nice feature at first, but I feel it quickly wore out it's welcome.
    9. Characters/enemies redesign, now don't get me wrong. Some of the zombies look amazing, but the hunters in the sewers just looked silly. Claire's new face didn't look good compared to her code veronica design.
    8. Less gore in RE3 remake, from zombies limbs not being blown off to a blue filter on the game over screen RE3 remake kinda feels tame.
    7. No violence control in RE2 remake. I first played re2 on the n64 and was surprised that you could turn the violence off to medium or to high. But in the remake, it's mostly set to medium. The remake had this flashing to black in the death animations that I didn't really care for.
    6. Outfit changes for female characters in the name of being "realistic", for some reason this always gets backlash for daring to want a female character to be both bad ass, good looking, and sexy. I always enjoyed the original outfits in RE3 and RE2 and even RE4, yet they changed them for the worst in my opinion. Here's hoping they don't back out of "realistic designs" when it comes to RE5 which is based in Africa.
    5. Voice acting and dialogue change in RE4, though most people will say Ada's voice actress failed, which she did, Kraser, Salazar, and Louis had some bad voice acting, and some dialogue being changed didn't help. I do miss that ballistic line.
    4. Infinite ammo being locked behind hard difficulty. Why couldn't they do what the old RE did beat the game in under set time to unlock it or have it in mercenary mode as a thing you can buy. Most of the time if I beat a game on the hardest choice I'm going for the platinum, but once I do beat it I'm not really going to want to replay it afterwards.
    3. Cut content in RE3, everyone knows that it is bs.
    2. No orginal nemesis skin for RE3 remake, you can unlock Jill's stars outfit and her "orginal" re3 outfit but nemesis doesn't get his orginal design. I am jealous of PC being able to mod it in.
    1. Unnecessary side content as a replacement for removed features. I didn't care for the re versus mode or the one with the masterminds in it. RE doesn't need a PvP mode in it.
Those are my opinions of changes I didn't care for. If you're going to comment on #6 and #5 in a negative way cause it's not your cup of tea, save your time. I'm probably not going to respond to it.

When Lady D does stalk you (non-scripted scenes) it's in a few rooms in the castle which you can just run out of the castle to the church and she disappears. With Nemesis's stalker encounter the game at least forces you to run around for a little bit (run to the subway office to activate the train coordinates and run back to the subway station). My presumption is, the RE3 Remake they cut down the branching storylines and tried to stream it down to follow the cannon path to fit in with the rest of the series. The OG has it chance to explore other possibilities as later entries weren't being make yet.
It might sounds like I defending the Remakes here but for the cut locations, it kind of made sense(to me) that the puzzle mission at the clock tower was cut as it wouldn't align with the story where there will be no more air rescue in the city, so there was no point fixing the clock tower bell to ring for a rescue chopper as they moved the chopper crash scene to the parking garage rooftop at the beginning. And instead, extending the hospital section for Carlos when in the original was kind of too short, IMO. As for the 'Grave Digger' during the parking lot basement and the cemetery, they got replaced with the longer sewer sections and other variations of 'Hunter'.
For the enemies, I think they combined the 'Drain Deimos' during the power substation with the 'Giant Spiders' in the RE3 Remake as they shared many similarities, this might be why they cut the spiders out. Not to mentioned that the Remake Nemesis is much more scripted compared to the OG. And it wasn't make sense in the RE3 OG for Nemesis to chase after Carlos as he was specifically programed to hunt down S.T.A.R.S members, not the UBCS, and only about to fight back when provoked with rocket launcher by Carlos(This part I misinterpreted that the Nemesis chased Carlos, but he wasn’t. Carlos just needed to fight him before he reach Jill in the chapel)
And I got to agree with the mass here that replacing the 'Dead Factory' with the 'NEST 2' in the remake was kind of messed up and lazy, with Nikolai's faith felt much less satisfying than the OG RE3.
Also the obvious worse remake character must be Annette Birkin, Sherry’s mom. Like, the lack of awareness about the outbreak in the lab and above on the city streets and only focus on her work is too much of a cartoon villain and unnatural. When in the OG RE2, she seemed more to care about her own daughter and aware of the situations around her.
Added: As the overall play through for both RE2 or RE3 are shorter, like each of them can be finish within 6 hours. I presumed it was intentionally mimicking that characters have to escape before the morning when the nuke about to hit the city. If it took longer than that, it means they won’t realistically survive out of Raccoon City.

And Nemesis has always been thought of as a creature so intelligent that would kill anyone who stood on his way to the target, even someone who was actually trying to kill the target in question as well (Nicholai).
This ofc because Nemesis couldn't distinguish whether the target got in contact with an ally or a foe, and as such he thought of every person that Jill talked to as one of her allies

@@tayntp true, true. Ehh, there are so many things that can be easily pointed out as inferior in 3R...from Jill being turned into a loud, brash, edgy, confrontational clone of Alice, to the major cuts, it's all just a very bad mess. 2R on the surface fared better, but it's actually plagued by the same issues, they're just more subtle.
4R did a better job as a remake than 2R and 3R, and did improve on some things over the original, but at the same time it also stupidly made some things worse just for the sake of change (at least, that's the only "valid" reason that comes to my mind when trying to understand why Capcom would have wanted to make such changes in the first place🤦🏻‍♂️)

A bit of a correction on the Barry saving Jill part, that entirely depended on if you got the broken shotgun or not, if you got the broken shotgun you would replace the good shotgun on the wall mantle with the broken shotgun deactivating the triggered trap which prevents Barry from saving you, but if you don't grab the broken shotgun Barry will come save you if you take the good shotgun without using the broken shotgun which keeps the trap activated.

As for why they switched from skirt to pants/short; probably because it doesn't seem very practical. The things Jill does throughout the events of Resident Evil 3 doesn't exactly seem plausible to do while wearing a skirt lol

    He even said to Leon:
"Have you forgotten what happened two years ago?"
    And Leon answered:
    "Operation Javier?"
I mean, Krauser answered, that his entire unit was wiped out, but who says Leon wasn't with him and he's the only one with Krauser who survived?
In the fight later in the game, he even asked:
"Remember the fight in the jungle? We barley made it out alive."

Regarding Krauser, to be fair, most of his backstory was not in the original RE4 (Operation Javier was not even a thing back then) and his connection with Wesker was pretty much retconned with RE5. I think the same applies to Ada backstabbing Wesker, I'm pretty sure this was only changed when RE5 came out to not make her look as bad. These changes are mainly there to make the overall story more coherent with RE5.

The Sides A and B are the biggest downside to the Remake, feeling like the same game just with small changes. While the Original had the Zap mechanic and completely different sections that both Leon and Claire can do. And as for RE3 Remake, it's cut content is what kills it most. Sure it's a fun game to play every now and then. But when people heard of an RE3 Remake in the works. We were all thinking of what would the clocktower be like, what would the streets be like, What would this enemy be like and so on. And more importantly, what would Nemesis be like. Sadly we get a DLC for RE2 Remake. The amount of content that was removed is what kills it. And i feel Nemesis mutates far too quickly to be fun. He mutates after the first boss fight you have with him. And his stalker status said in this video is lost.
If we had a carbon Copy of the OG RE3 and give us Remake Nemesis. Then the kings crown would be back, because i do find the Remake Nemesis to be the best. But the worst in terms of gameplay. If he was more like Mr-X and stalked you throughout the games like he did. Then he would have been a great enemy. But with all the cut content. It just wasn't a thing.

14:13 "Operation Javier" didn't exist in OG RE4. In the original game, Krauser essentially comes out of the woodwork and Leon somehow knows him.The whole Javier story was created in "The Darkside Chronicles" to try and fill the gaps left by RE4's shoddy writing (and before anyone attacks me for this, Shinji Mikami himself said the story was RE4's weakest point because he wrote it himself while in a hurry and hoped the remake was going to improve it - which it did). The RE4make writers actually did one hell of a job fixing a lot of the plot, and Krauser was one of the things they improved.

The only thing that I don't think is cannon is him working with wesker and ada

I agree. If you remove the charm of the original (whatever it may represent) it´s a bad remake. Pretty graphics don´t do it for me at all. My main gripe is the voice acting direction of the remakes (not the voice actors). It´s bland and boring, soulles. I felt it especially in the RE4 Remake. Leon in the original was cool and more mature. The remake makes him a depressed, too serious young guy.

It helped build tension between leon and even you the player. Cause all you want is to kill them and when you do it feels rewarding. Also, with Chris’s scenario in the original you can avoid needing to save Rebecca from the Hunter if you a). meet Rebecca in the medical storage save room, and b). say yes when Rebecca asks if she can come with you.

For lore wise, I kinda hate how Re1 and Re2 remake turned out. It hurts my head to imagine which is canon. For example (RE1 remake) Barry literally missing if you play Chris gameplay, and who is the one fighting with lisa trevor canonically? For Re2 remake, it is just repeating formula with RE1 remake like did anette died in front of sherry after she shot Ada or what? And who the heck defeat birkin 1st and 2nd transformation canonically?! How frustrated I am when I finished RE2 remake 4 times with the same repeating scenarios. The OG re2 makes the storyline way better.
For RE3 remake, quite a shame as the gameplay is really fun but NOT replayable (unless wanted to try different difficulties) although they are many cut contents. 5 hours length like Ada and Rose DLC lol! The remake doesn't really visit raccoon city at all compared to the OG. How I wish they cancelled the ReResistance project because i think that because of that project, Re3 remake cut a lot of content lol (just to make my mind to accept the shorter length of re3 remake). For real, i really wish the pipe puzzle, clock towers, grave digger boss is back lol.
For the spiders I think it would be hard for the RE engine cause the crocodile one from re2 remake, i remember they said it was hard to make that thing. If thats the case, the deadline is the problem i guess 🤷. They shouldn't rush 😢
Btw, Your top 10s always have the same agreement with me which why i love your videos.

I'm not sure if it'd classify as a change as much as a "missed opportunity", but Jill was initially a bit more hostile to Carlos in the original game, almost interrogating him on why he was there when Umbrella was the one who had started everything. Heck, the SD Perry novel even has her point a gun in his face and grow REALLY hostile towards him, almost disbelieve his intentions for a while before coming around. Outside of a single line of disbelief about Umbrella sending in a squad to help, she doesn't show any actual resistance to cooperating with "Umbrella workers" like she showed signs of in the original. Granted, Carlos had just blasted Nemesis in the face with a rocket launcher to save her, but I think in retrospect, it's still unrealistic that she'd be on the side of people associated with the company that effectively ruined her life so quickly. Better storytelling opportunity is all I'm saying.
