  • ITS FINALLY FINISHED!!!
    Welcome to the last episode of the Honda ATC 90 restoration, I really hope you find the video entertaining and final product worth the wait as i certainly do.
    There really isn't much to describe this time as you have seen me restore all the parts in previous episodes and in this one its just a case of putting them back together in the correct order.
    The only really technical things i do are the cleaning and sealing of the tank this was done by filling the tank to the brim with deox c to remove all of the rust and dissolve anything else nasty that was hiding in there. This was left overnight to do its job them the deox was poured out and the tank thoroughly rinsed out and dried. In order to stop the inside from rusting again the was sealed with a polyester resin designed for this job. It was mixed up and poured in then while it was going off i had to keep rotating the tank to get a nice even coverage and to avoid it all pooling on the base of the tank and blocking the fuel ports.
    Another slightly technical job was to fit a new seat cover and as im not an upholsterer there was certainly a few choice words flying around the room. In order to secure the seat to the seat unit there are a couple of steel plates that need to be inserted in the new seat cover, now these had rusted away on my original seat but luckily there was enough left of one that i could get the shape and dimensions from it to remake new plates so this was done and i welded on the captive bolts and fitted a nice rubber trim just like the OEM ones and then interested then into the nice new vinyl cover.
    After these couple of jobs everything else was pretty much just nuts and bolts and adding the final touches like the nice new decals to set it off and give it back that factory fresh look.
    Then all i had to do was simply add oil and fuel and it was time for a blast around the countryside to see what this 43 year old trike could do and im pleased to say it performed very well and i didn't fall off which was nice too.
    So thats about it for this description, I hope you enjoy the video and will leave a like and a comment and ill see you again soon with a shiny new episode.
    Enjoy

    I enjoyed watching this very much, as a young man when all there was were 3 wheelers. I had a ( very used )1969 atc 90 Honda with the single latch lever in the center of the bars to fold them down to put in the back of a station wagon. It came with the original one piece wheel and tires wich were replaced with modern wheel and tires. Eventualy I sold it when the Honda 200s came out.😢 but always regretted it. Now over 4 decades later I purchased a 76 90 atc that needed lots of TLC, i did not realize the difficulty finding parts mostly used because new is either non existent or to $.$ . Well thank for memory lane visit. Iam now enjoying my 90 atc now with my grandkids.

    This is one of the best things I have seen in a while, so much attention to detail. One thing that was strange though, the rear axle was painted black where the stock ones had a gold color. I wish I had the skills to do this, would love to restore a 1982 ATC 185s, my first machine.

    • @RRCRestoration
      @RRCRestoration  3 года назад

      Hi, the rear axle was sent away for plating and is gold underneath the gloss black, i chose to paint it black for extra corrosion resistance and i feel black ties the rear end together better the zinc plating would look out of place.

    You always amaze me at your attention to detail, when you repaired the back mud guards on this one I thought there was no way but it came out like it’s just rolled out the factory!
    In fact better than factory because every nut and bolt was put together with passion.

    Truly superb. I'm amazed how you managed to source so many new parts for a 40 year old trike. I struggle for parts for my 27 year old Frontera!

      Struggle really is the only word to describe it i spent so many hours searching around the world to get certain parts, but its so satisfying knowing i managed to track them all down lol

    I'm so glad you take it out and use it, but I'm also not sure if I could if I'd spent so long restoring something!

    Just picked up a 90 bought new parts iv been replacing sanding and painting parts to restore it I could never imagine getting it restored this good where it looks new haha that’s amazing looks fresh off the lot awesome video and job I didn’t realize till I was looking that you can’t find back fender replacements for these 90s unless it’s an original one everything else but the ones for the 90s so that also put a stop to my project at the moment
