I had to replace the same parts on my latest acquisition, a 2001 Traxter (7426). Great video by the way. After watching you struggle a bit, I decided to soak the grommets and tubing in hot water to make them easier to install in the tank. The warmth ( and a little grease) made the rubber easier to deform to fit the tank hole, especially the bottom one. Thank you sir!
It was a 30 sec fix. No joke. Simply side hose with the screen on it thru the groment. Attach the hose to the elbow. Don't side the elbow into the groment. Now side groment in the hole. Then slide elbow into groment. Easily go in now. Literally less than 30 sec to fix. No struggling
Make sure to clean the tank out. I drilled a small hole in the bottom of the tank and drained it several times using air pressure and got some terrible black crap out of bottm of the tank that sticks to everything, nasty shit, and plugged it with a sheet metal screw and a small oring. I am going back with regular black fuel line instead of the clear falling off line crap.
I used valve stem for your tires but I used the ones that you can slide through and put flat washer and nut on the outside and tighten her down and they never leaked
I have a 2002 bombardier 500 quest and the gas take had to come out to make the same repair and to replace the fuel gauge as it fell apart inside the tank (grumble grumble grumble). The traxter looks like it has a bit more room but not much. I dissembled the whole front end, took out every brace I could find, even had to remove the oil dip stick and sadly there was no way the tank was coming out. I don't know who at bombardier designed this set up especially with the grommet set up but youtube policy prevents me from saying what I'd like to do with that person. To get the tank out the engine either has to be removed or the frame cut, I chose to cut the frame and then the tank came right out. To repair the frame I spent quite a few hours building a removable frame section so I never have to go through this BS again. After seeing how stupidly this was designed I decided I will never buy another bombardier or can am as it's the same company and I've seen some of these apart at the local shop and it is just hideous the way they cram shit in there with literally no room to work on it and you shouldn't have to dismantle the whole GD machine to remove a gas tank.
Did mine a couple years ago (when I was younger and perhaps dumber). Now my bottom one is leaking again. It's winter time here, and I don't have a heated garage. I am not looking forward to this job. My fingers are already sore and I've only got the side skins off so far.
Hey! Not sure as this video is old but I have the same type of ATV and I am trying to figure out why it will not shift while idle! Any help would be very very much appreciated!!!! Im so glad I finally found something that is similar but in this caser exact to my atv
Maybe heat up some water in the microwave and drop em in a few minutes before install. The heat gun could work but be careful not to go to far. Good luck.
@@TheHandsOnChannel runs okay but wont idle. Im out of ideas and might take it to a shop 4 final tune up since i need a reliable vehicle more than a project at this point...
@@TheHandsOnChannel you can also follow me on IG @ laprepping since i dont have internet at the house atm... Been working on car shit too. Gonna upload a few videos at the library tomorrow
@@laprepper I'm sure you checked it but I've had the intake boot crack/leak and make it not want to idle. Or you still have a clog somewhere. Have you taken off the petcock and screen?
For anyone having an issue here's the easy way to do it, after doing mine 4 plus times. Put the grommet over the fuel line part that sits in the tank, and try to push it in when it's over that line. When you put the plastic elbow inside of it it doesn't let it shrink that much.
LOL I love Honda's I own a couple of their dual sports. But the Bombardier is a workhorse. It has the weight and power to get the job done. It's been pretty reliable for me and it was cheap. Think i paid 1k for it not running. Show me a Honda I can do that with and I'll buy it.

Warm the fuel line tubing up and it will stretch right over the fitting and shrink when cooled. Good video. It that belt driven or shaft.
sometimes I warm grommets with a heat gun or put in some very hot water to soften temporarily to allow for easier fitting
THANK YOU!!! Mine is 17 years old and the bottom finally failed.
You're welcome, It's a pita but doable with basic tools.
@@TheHandsOnChannel yup. thx to your video, I ordered elbows just in case I snap one too. 😉
Great Video, thanks for the tips. Mine started leaking and I suspect it's the same issue, will know when I get everything apart.

Excellent video. I wish that you had a camera man when you were working on the carb.
On my 04 quest 650, I dropped the skid plate and changed the grommet from underneath.
Thank you very much sir! Worked like a charm.
Excellent!

Yeah, I'm not a fan of how they designed the fuel system. I'd rather have some stainless fittings to connect to. Good luck.
I'm dealing with the same problem seems to be a common issue as I found 4 fuel filters inside the gas tank

Probably the idle is set too high.
I just ordered the parts to do mine, I wonder if it would help to take a heat gun to the grommet and warm it up before you try to push it in?
Maybe heat up some water in the microwave and drop em in a few minutes before install. The heat gun could work but be careful not to go to far. Good luck.
How long are the fuel filter clear hoses supposed to be
I think they were about 6'' long. Mainly you want the filter to sit at the bottom of the tank.
How do you remove them
I pried them out with a flat blade screwdriver. Good luck.
I just bought a 03 with 76 hrs..have u had any problem s with the transmission?
Nope, but you do have to set the idle low or it shifts hard.
@@TheHandsOnChannel ok.thanks for that tip.keep up the good work.

The best fix for this is to scrap your bombardier and buy a honda.
