  • @oliversmole147
    @oliversmole147 10 месяцев назад

    The thing about thicker rotors cooling faster doesn’t really make sense. The surface area is the same and the mass is more so it will cool down slower. If you got aluminum foil red hot (idk if you can do that) but if you could it would be silver again as soon as you took the flame of it. But it you had a 4 inch cube of steel red hot it would stay red for a few minutes at least

    • @oliversmole147
      @oliversmole147 10 месяцев назад

      Correct me if im wrong

    • @Talariaboys
      @Talariaboys  10 месяцев назад

      I get your point but it is technically wrong. Its very easy to make very thin aluminum foil red hot but its very difficult and takes so much longer to get a 4 inch cude red hot. Without going in specifics a larger rotor takes way longer and a lot more heat to reach the point where it stops working well as a brake. That's the main point is to lengthen the time before your brakes overheat and stop working.

    I wanted to upgrade to the shimano saints with the xtr ice-tech rotors, but they only come in 203mm. I don't mind going from 220mm to 203mm, but I'm worried the rear rotor on the mx4 will rub since the stock is 2.2mm thick. Is there a way to upgrade/replace the rear rotor on the MX4? Luna cycle told me you cannot replace the rear rotor. This is the only thing holding me back or I'd get an entire brake set and both new rotors. Now since the stock rotor is 2.2mm, the only option would be the TRPs since they are made for 2.3mm rotors. Everything else would rub, like you mentioned its almost impossible to keep from rubbing. What rear rotor do you have currently on your MX4? or what do you plan on upgrading to? Any links? :)

      Mine didn’t fit either. You gotta shave the swingarm a little. Warp9s fitment sucks from my experience, customer service is even worse lol they couldn’t care less if stuff doesn’t fit

      The hope brakes feel great. We haven’t spent enough time using them to really know if they are better

      @@Talariaboys “hope” you’re able to use them longer so we can get your opinion as to which are better

      It just depends on what size rotors you ordered? 200? 220? Also what size rotors are currently on your bike? Sting R has 220 and mx3 has 200

      @@Talariaboys I have the talaria sting mx3 and I ordered the same break kits as Lances list so I have the Stag AURA'22 Floating Disc Rotor (Front & Rear Set) and a front and rear HAYES Dominion A4 brake kit I have default wheels and rotors and everything, I just ordered the Shinko SR 241 Trials Tires and Im unsure of what spacers to get because im very new to this ebike scene but I am very invested.
      Thank you :)

      We do know why it helps but its hard to explain on camera to those who have very little understanding, we do our best.
