    What I learned with my wood stove similar to what y'all have but bigger, as long as y'all use really dry wood with no bark on the wood y'all will have very little Ash to clean out. I learned that the bark is what makes the biggest majority of the ash. I just came across your house video and really enjoyed it. Keep up with the blessings of each other!

    Hello folks. I am considering a Cubic Mini in my fifth wheel, and I have a question that perhaps you could answer for me. I’m curious ... if I turn on my bathroom exhaust fan during a shower, will it pull smoke or even flames out of the vent holes in the stove? I’ve got a Maxx Air Fan, and it pulls quite a bit of air when it’s on. Thank you for the great video.

    • @kevinasayrealestatewithbig2561
      @kevinasayrealestatewithbig2561 5 лет назад

      I'm not them, but... No it won't pull smoke from the stove and certainly not flames. The stove fire does need oxygen to burn however, so if you are showering, I would crack a window somewhere near the stove to make sure there is enough air so that the fire does not go out. Kevin in Montana

    • @chrisj6275
      @chrisj6275 5 лет назад

      Thanks Kevin. I understand that a wood burner will void my insurance, and seeing as I live in my rig, I want to as cautious as possible. The Canadian winters and the cost of propane are hard on the pocket book. As soon as I get over the fear of cutting holes in my roof, I’m ordering a stove. Cheers from Salt Spring Island!

    Does your mini stove have the option to draw fresh air from the underside/outside of the Airstream or are you stuck drawing air from only the interior? I'm just worried about low oxygen levels from sucking too much fresh air inside?

    I have the slightly larger grizzly cubic mini . I burn pressed logs about 12 inches long that I cut in have .Fat wood to start the fire. 80 plus degrees is no problem which gets to warm so I have to turn down the air vent. I cut down my propane from five a month to one by heating with pressed logs plus no condensation that propane has (water ). The logs burn all night.

    It seems to me that it would be a good thing if some bright soul figured out how to "co-fuel" the mini-stove with propane. Use the propane alone or as supplement to wood fuel. Helpful if the wood is a bit damp, or during the night when you don't want the maintenance of stoking the fire. I also wonder if occasionally running with propane only would clear out or help to clear out the creosote.

    Just have one question. How long does the stove stay hot after the fire dies down. I mean it should radiate heat for a good while after the flames are out and have you experimented with damping it down so it burns at much lower level, is that possible? Thanks

    • @loveinatincanclintericka
      @loveinatincanclintericka  5 лет назад

      Dampening the heat down works very well with the grizzly, the cub had trouble keeping up with our heat demands so it had to stay mostly open which meant it would burn out in about two hours and radiate heat for another hour. The grizzly I can dampen it down and keep it going all night till I get up in the morning

    Free wood is available if you go in to a industrial area you can usually pick up hardwood pallets for free most people will give them away just to get rid of them. one word of caution not to burn treated pallets which usually have paint on them. I would pick up a cordless skill-saw and just pick up a magnet and sift threw the ashes to remove the nails. Good for you people save money...

    Isn’t the wood stove more of a dry heat in comparison to the propane? I think I’ve read that somewhere. And moisture is a big enemy in such a small space.

    • @loveinatincanclintericka
      @loveinatincanclintericka  6 лет назад

      X Tree True. It's a good balance though with both the dry heat from the stove and moisture from the propane heater. If we are mostly using the wood stove, we'll put a small pot of water on top of it to add moisture back into the air but honestly we don't have too many problems with condensation. It's mostly on the windows if it happens.

    • @loveinatincanclintericka

      The cleaning only takes about 15 minutes. We recently updated our flue pipe to a double wall flue pipe and took out the elbow and made it a straight run. That should cut down on creosote buildup a lot but I still plan to clean it once a month.

    What a beautiful lady...You should get a self powered fan to help circulate the air around the camper...and don't forget to keep a pot of water on the stove. Creosote should not be a problem if you fire up the stove and then leave the door cracked open and let the fire roar for a while... Creosote comes from wood that has not been dried thoroughly or properly. If your wood hasn't been seasoned for 2 years then you should cut it into small lengths and burn it without damping down the draught.

      @CUBICMINIWOODSTOVES 7 лет назад +1

      Hello, thank you for understanding. Our Grizzly would be best to heat your space and to have the longest burn time possible. With a small fire box like ours you can expect a burn ( solid flames) for 1-2 hours. With residual embers burning for several hours after that. The stove is 34 LBS and with such a mass of steel, it radiates heat for quite a while. But I would not expect a full burn over night, it would last about 6 hours. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
      Thank you

    Maintenance is #1 above all...with a magnetic temperature gauge on the flue pipe gives you the best operational
    temps. above 200 deg is best below, 125 more build up of contamination inside the pipe....above 200 the less and the safer....get a bigger stove, the larger logs you can burn, giving you more Zzzzzzzz time, if it gets too hot, just remove more clothes its that simple. 🤔

      Hey Keelan, We will actually have another video coming up regarding the wood stove, you'll have to keep a lookout for it. I think it would be fine with the aluminum siding but you most definitely would need to make sure you have proper insulation. Its only about 1.5" insulation gap so i can only recommend closed cell spray foam... I wouldn't count on radiant heat keeping the tanks from freezing, I'm sure they sell something that can maintain the water temp above freezing. As far as the pipes as long as they aren't under the floor they should be fine and won't freeze. Sometimes we have to let the water drip when it gets very cold this time of year, any other questions please feel free ask.

    Do you have any carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide problems (these gasses are oderless and toxic)..

      I lived in a TIPI in glenwood spgs colorado for 5 yrs with a stove the same size as the grizzly, (I stiil have it in the 36ft 5th wheel rv I live in now) with a 3" double wall flu, don't use the small 1/2-1 " blacksmith coal, its too small, I used 3 or 4--3"-5" chunks, I started them about 30 mins before bed with the air gaps open full, then barely open when retiring for the night, nice and toasty ALL night, in the am , I had a steel bucket with saw dust in it with DAMP not soaking kerosene in it, I would take a soup can full of this and throw it in the box with a little kindling and would be good to go ....hope this helps.

    I have a 28ft fth wheel with a big wood burner..I'm not fond of the cubic mini..too short burn times. But I live in Canada -35 ..even though cubic is being made in Quebec..it's a gimmick!!go big or go home..expecially if the woodstove is your only heat source. When it's cold you wanna be warm.

      @loveinatincanclintericka  5 лет назад

      Yea we understand it’s not for everyone. Even though we use the stove often it’s not our only heat source. Pennsylvania winters get cold but not nearly as cold as yours! We definitely stand by the cubic mini though, we are never cold.

      +Lost Caper We can fit a teeny tiny pot on it that is large enough to fit two eggs in it, but realistically no. It's very small and we just use that pot to put moisture into the air.

      ya I agree. A beautiful couple. By the way most wood stoves if you put in a 16 inch stick it still burns down in two hours unless you put a really big pile of wood in it and some stoves don't burn very good if you fill it to full of wood.
