Police drones have tried and they just simply out speed them. They last longer than conventional drones as well. Even with DJI drones you're not going to get over an hour flight time on the best of days and yet these drones have been noted to stay up for 5-6 hours. Furthermore, how are you even going to take footage of it in the dark unless you have a ultra sophisticated DJI drone with built in thermal imaging cameras.

People in business as airial photographers, for example must sign legal documents, to agree to the use of airspace. Only the police have access to most of it, but even the height used must be observed, for safety. What these drone enthusiasts are doing is breaking the law.

I’m not trying to spread fear but I think it fair to say that the statement “there’s no evidence that these drones are a threat to our safety” is based primarily on the fact that they have not hurt anyone or caused harm, yet. The unspoken truth is that there does not appear to be any evidence that they are not, or could not, be a threat to our safety. They haven’t identified any of these drones or what they are or who is operating them, so there really isn’t any evidence of anything, other than the fact that there are some type of unidentified craft flying around. If you have been paying attention to the war in Ukraine then you know that drones of various types have been used repeatedly to cause damage and harm to the combatants. Water borne drones were used to sink the Moskva and aerial drones have been used to drop explosives on soldiers and armored vehicles. With respect to various claims about the size of the objects currently being seen being as large as cars and RV’s and what not, I would point out that the human eye is not good at detecting how larges objects are at a distance, unless there is a known sized object at the exact same distance for comparison. Do they do it over 7 different states all at the same time? Have you ever seen hundreds of drones over you house at 2am before....every night for a month?
