    Love the size of these boxes and it's magical how ordinary items,when paced just the right way, create such a special effect. Again your vintage findings are so cool.and interesting. I did my 1st glass cutting in a studio a few weeks back and I want to include it in my assemblage art as well. Thanks for all the great info and ideas Denise. : )

    Thanks! Can’t wait to try. I have a bottle cutter; thought it would be fune to recycle liquor bottles-dang, cutting well with those things takes practice! Quite a learning curve! The second one I bought works better than the first.

      @cerropaint  8 месяцев назад

      It’s not easy these days, especially since Apple makes the boxes much more streamline and small! Though friends and students always hand them over to me, and I’ve found them on eBay too. You just really have to want them and look hard!😳🙄😐

    Hello. Im needing to know more about the balsa wood sticks for the insets

    • @cerropaint
      @cerropaint  Год назад +1

      Hi trail guy...they are balsa (soft wood) you can cut with scissors, wire cutters or a small hack saw. I get mine at Michaels Craft or any craft store, usually in the modeling area. I believe Home Depot or lumber yards would also carry it. It will come in different thicknesses 1/4", 1/2", 1"...really easy to work with. Thanks for watching, hope this helps!

    These are really fabulous! I'm just about to start my 100 Day project of Assemblage and am doing a bit of an inspiration search to get me geared up. This video popped up, and your art is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for this dose of inspiration and for making it feel less intimidating. I know this video is a few years old, but can you tell me a little about the glass you're using? Is it anything special? Where would I find it? I'm guessing the hardware store, but thought I would ask first. I think I have a glass cutter already somewhere. And also, now I'm wondering where all the boxes are from our old iPhones... HA! Anyway, thank you so much for this video!

    • @cerropaint

      Hi CraftyHope! Thanks so much for watching my video and commenting, I’m still here and appreciate that! So great that you’re doing a 100 day challenge, that should be fun! The glass is just regular glass you can buy at Home Depot…or like I use, glass out of store bought picture frames. I have lots of frames and often don’t use the glass in them so they’re perfect for assemblage boxes. Hope this works for you too…enjoy and have fun! Devise

      @CraftyHope 2 года назад

      @@cerropaint Yay! That's what I was thinking but wanted to make sure. We've got a ton of glass here too (from old picture frames and whatnot). So, I'm excited to possibly upcycle that as well. Thank you for getting back to me! I really appreciate your time, experience, and inspiration.

    Where do you find all your bits and pieces?

    • @cerropaint
      @cerropaint  4 года назад

      Hi Lauren...I was in the vintage business for about 5 years and seemed to always be on the look out for cool old stuff! I'm no longer a vintage person, but still have lots of left overs to play with, I just seem to spend more time painting now. I found such great stuff at rummage sales, garage sales...and of course vintage flea markets. Estate sales are great too...ask to see the junk drawer...a treasure trove of goodies! Happy hunting!

    Where do you get the glass and is there a special tool to cut it? My husband works at an Apple store and gets me boxes out of the recycling bin for art projects. Would love to cut glass for them. Thanks! Love the video!

    • @cerropaint
      @cerropaint  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Robin...cutting glass is so easy its almost embarassing how worried I was about it! If you go into my video again, around the 8 minute mark, I show you how to cut the glass...its soooo easy and safe. You can get a glass cutting tool at Michaels, Home Depot or any hardware store pretty cheap. I use glass out of picture frames that I won't use, or you can buy small sheet of glass at Home Depot. You only have to do on cut mark, and then the glass snaps apart on that line. I'm sure there is a RUclips showing a much better example than mine. I'm so jealous you have easy access to iPhone boxes...I have to bug gamily and friends for thier discards. Have fun and let me know how it goes.

      Denise Cerro Thank you, I’ll review the video again. Using old phone picture frame glass is a great idea too! - Also, I use all Apple boxes; iPhone as well as earbuds, MacBook Pro, Apple Watch boxes, iPad, etc. If I was your neighbor I’d give you some of mine. I have yet to use them and just started collecting them. I just put them away today and have a nice little collection. Thanks again!

    • @cerropaint
      @cerropaint  4 года назад +1

      Hi Colleen...thanks for watching! As you can see here in the video, they are only about 1/4 inch thick bolas strips, I actully get them at Michaels and I think Home Depot also carries them. They should be pretty easy to find...vest of luck. Hope you get to do an assemblage piece.
