Nice case and love the form factor. I have been using a PI3 with an IQAUDIO DAC with a 7inch touch screen (using the DSI connector) and 3D printed a simple case - all connected to my HiFI and works and sounds great so nice to see another good looking option.
This sounds like an interesting setup. Do we need a pi3 for this? Are there any pi dac setups that are okay with a pi zero ? I have an pi zero doing nothing at the moment..
it's good to have both options: as in this case a thinner but larger surface form factor or a thicker bricky-style smaller case (with the hi-res audio HAT on top of the pi); throw in a battery pack, an lcd , a rotary encoder and you have a compact portable totally customizable Linux powered hi-res audio player
I was thinking a cm4 with an I/O board that would be a way to build an audio focused pi. Have a nice dac hat then integrate an nvme drive through the pcie. I got this hat from audio injector supposed to be good for recording and playback I haven't set it up yet though. I've noticed playing around with the pi 400 some of the tweaks you would make on a regular Linux distro for audio production is already there out of the box ( jack2d is setup for example) Though I get a few pops and crackles with the usb interface ( still usable though) and there are some quirks with the power too. I had to use an external powered hub to hook up a midi keyboard.... Though if you kept most your sounds, effects, instruments etc outboard then just use the pi as a recorder that'd work pretty good I'd think.
Interesting use for your 1GB Pi 4. I've looked into other Pi DACs but there are so few informative reviews out there that I left it on the back burner. Hope you get it all set to your liking and that it complements your TV/audio system.
This is great, and at a great price also. That DAC specs look sweet. I'm looking to build a stream machine. In your experience would this case's passive cooling be able to keep safe temperatures while using Pi4 to output 4K video (NetFlix)? I would love to double this machine as both audio centric and video centric. Thank you for great content.
As for OSMC for Pi 4, there is a Beta. Look up [TESTING] Kodi v19 builds for Raspberry Pi 2/3/4. I foolishly tried to share the link with you via comment. I don't see it, so I'm guessing it was removed.

At 12:02 you change to the AV input so the audio is sent ARC How did you get video to display? I don’t get that🤦♂️... I see it wasn’t the moodeaudio interface, but what is plugged into your av video signal? It says apps... it can’t be the raspi? Appreciate all you do👊
You can’t usually send a phono audio connection to a TV without picture. So I send video from a digital TV box. The only thing now is how much gpu mem should I allocate? If the pi is running headless, is it actually using any of the gpu for the pi cam while the pi cam is on? Also, what would use more network bandwidth. Having the pi run a stream over the network? (Eg. Using rtsp so that any other local device can go to the URL & view the stream?) or Just having the pi on & then use VNC to log in & view a live “always on” cam? (The vnc part makes me then question if the raspi gpu mem needs to be at a normal minimal value? Does it use the gpu if I VNC into it?🤦♂️? ) I’m really pedantic sorry. You didn't need to use Moode Audio, you could have used it to play the normal Raspberry audio output. Just needs configuring. There are a number of Overlay files that suit various DAC's
did you ever figure out how to get the RCA audio working from this case?? I'm trying to get this working out from my RCA to the RCA on the back of my AVR Receiver - not working for some reason yet.... any info/ideas would be appreciated
I mis the optical and coaxial digital out.... for headphone i advice : OneOdio Pro-10, very affordable and almost as good as top of the line +€200 headphones, to believe this, hear it :)
Definitive fan of Moode audio. I have a Pi zero W, which is a bit underpowered, to stream audio during summer (not so much this year). It uses a 18650 UPS board and is attached to a small solar panel to keep it up and running. (24/7 when the sun shines during the day). Moode seems to be the only ready project, meaning download image and throw it on an sd-card, which has built-in BT speaker/headphones connectivity. If you calculate the total price of a Pi zero W, a 18650 cell and that 5 euro ups board and then check what you get you can't beat that.

HD files are stored on an ext HD connected via usb, with ots own Power supply. You can connect it both via WiFi and lan port, but it works well also stand alone. I will tell you when the project will be completed.

I wish someone write pure PLEX OS. As a streamer/player PLEX woul be far better then all these vulumios and other streamers, and it would be nice to get audio via bluetooth. All these streamers sit on IP adress and are forced to stay at home, and adding that function would make it also a bluetooth speaker. I have HiFi berry miniamp on my Pi Zero 2 W. It is a great player, but it is a very much stay at home player wich is disapointing. Anyone know software that can stream plex, is a seperate os and not running inside linux os in for of app, and can bluetooth with a phone to receive audio, that would be a dream OS for my HiFi Berry.

LOL. I use Moode audio hooked up to a 5.1 stereo receiver setup and control it thru my android phone. Never thought about hooking it up to the tv.

Great video. I use a pair of tweezers,with care, to get to SD cards out of different cases where the SD slot is slightly recessed.
My wife wants to know where her eyebrow tweezers are. I wouldn't know anything about their disappearance ;-)
