This panel seems to be conflating the definitions of personal independence with independence of judiciary. Two very different things. Personal independence is subject to the person; judicial independence is subject to the constitution and laws thereof. It should be unacceptable for a judge to demonstrate/prioritize personal independence while disposing their duties.
