Chuck's take is the most solid one here. I can understand if it's given to one of those 5 players (Jokic, Brunson, Ant, SGA, Luka). What makes me a bit mad is the distribution of those votes. There's no way that the disparity should be that far. Add to that that Giannis got a 1st place vote and none for both Ant and Brunson.
I don't trust those media people who have the right to vote,, at all tbh. Too oftentimes most of them kinda just rolling with the general narratives instead of step back, and making their own independent judgment on who should get these awards. Im not mad Joker winning it,, but those vote distributions only shows how the vote-getters aren't credible at all.

If he used "logic" and looked at "stats" he would notice that both Luka and SGA attempted more shoots per game than Jokic, a lot more. Luka around 400 and SGA around 300 more shots this season while playing less games btw. Meanwhile, their field goal % is lower than Nikola's. Meaning he is more efficient. I could have played only 2 games in NBA this season and score 40 points in both games for example, which means I would average 40 points per game. Would that make me the most valuable? Use ya brain, son, not your heart like Dr. O'Neal here.

I'm Serbian, and Dirk was, is and will be my favourite player forever. He indeed was Jokić before Jokić. Humble, classy, no trashtalk, he was speaking on basketball court. I was fuming back in 06 when Dallas lost to Heat. I was 8 at the time, and to see my favourite player defeated by stronger opponent (yes, it was kinda superteam, Wade was first from draft class 03 to reach "prime", Shaq was still good, Jason Williams was amazing, Haslem was rebound machine), I felt so bad for Dirk. And then in '11 he defetead arguably 2nd or 3rd best superteam ever, against Bron&Wade&Bosh. And he passed the torch to Luka, and he is happy for him, and he is always happy when he breaks some of his records.
Shaq is funny, but that's about it. The amount of times he disrespected new and moders players... Crazy stuff, especialy cause he should know how much respect Jokić has for him and Charles.

I'm so tired of people trying to use the argument "OKC was no.1 in the West" as if they were head and shoulders above everyone else. Denver had the exact same record and Minnesota was just 1 game behind those two. The difference is that Thunder(and to a lesser extent the Wolves) were able to sneak up on teams at the beginning since they weren't expected to be a top team. Denver on the other hand got every team's best punch every game since everyone wants to prove themselves against the defending champs. Nuggets also had a brutal schedule to begin the year, where they had the most back-to-backs, plus 4 games in 5 nights multiple times, and had played 4 more games than most teams up until allstar break.

Jokic has now joined a pretty good list of players with at least 3 MVP's and at least one title in their careers. We're talking about the greatest of the greats on that list.
