Loved this video and especially your vibes. I'm joining AU for MA in Journalism and Public Affairs in International speciality and it really made me happy when you mentioned that there are amazing courses in international relations umbrella. I am excited as well as nervous as an international student but your video made me relief a bit! I really appreciate it, thank you :)
I was too! Especially because I was moving across the country and didn't know anymore but I ended up loving it at AU. I had a great experience and made amazing friends. I feel like this is an unpopular opinion haha but I liked graduate school more than undergrad.
@@chaytanya2293 for housing I know AU recommended a few places for grad students so maybe ask them. They help not only with adjusting to academics but also personal things too like housing. I think there are also AU housing groups on Facebook you can join. Think about the type of housing situation you want as well (apt to share or by yourself or in a house, etc.) and seek those out.
I’m joining in the spring and I’m a bit nervous as I don’t know what to do housing wise and I’m not from DC. Would you recommend to live or out of campus ?
It depends what lifestyle you want and what year you are. If you’re a freshman or sophomore I’d look more into housing however juniors, seniors, graduates, and PhD students might look into off campus housing. You can reach out to this site: www.american.edu/ocl/housing/contact.cfm . Also there are many dc and many au housing pages on Facebook, you should be able to find them when you search from them. Another option is using sites like Zillow to find apartments near you. I know The Berkshire is a common place for off campus housing. I’d stick to finding a place by campus or right off the red line of the metro in areas like tenly town (which has a shuttle to campus from the metro), friendship heights, Van Ness or Cleveland park. I know finding a place in a new city can be hard but there’s lots of options near campus and AU is happy to help. I had a friend from home living in northern Virgina at the time that toured places for me and I was on FaceTime so if that’s an option for you I’d consider it as well!
