For me that's more than nice - it's helping every day in future. Thanks to that LED technology you are able to have everything in a perfect visibility. Great when searching for problems.
The good part is its on pegboard and easily zip tied into place. I was also curious about the tape. I didn't see anything get wiped down before they got stuck in place.
Excellent. I'm in the middle of a boat engine swap and will need new galley cushions later. Marine upholstery is ridiculously priced. Good job showing how to diy.
You should buy a complete roll of sunbrella. It will be cheaper in the long run. You my friend are lucky to have such a willing accomplice. Just remember, what you are doing can be rough on a relationship. Step away every so often and focus on each other.
Thank you so much for this advice. Getting wrapped up in projects changes focus to getting work done and not on relationships. We have needed to take breaks but kept pushing through, not a great plan. We have gotten things corrected and are making sure to have time for ourselves, family and friends.
Hello Seeking Seas.... daaaang son, those lights do it all. you'll never be in the dark again... at least, down below in the engine room. nice touch on the cushions. looks fab ! cheers
There is so much to be said for LED lighting, and it is like night and day, but the big plus is that you are not drawing anywhere near the power you were consuming before, win win all round, love your choice of fabric on the seats as well, from a retired upholsterer 🙏🙏🙏
hey you guys need to make an intro with your story and plans. so new people wil be more attracted to your channel. and maybe some voiceovers 😁✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼 good luck 💪💪💪✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼🇧🇪🇧🇪🇧🇪🇧🇪🇧🇪 for insolation in engine room. you have stick on insolation and sound proof material all marine grade and easy to work with. just cut and tape on the wall
Wow. That engine room just pops and came to life. Great great work. Will make maintenance so much easier. If you have room make a good little tooling area for all the gear plus spares like filters and oils etc. a wotk cushion will do wonders to sit in while working.
With that new colors - you are missing the historical touch 🤣 But - with that geometric design - you will see any imperfection when upholstering. You took a tough challenge 😉
You Guys are doing an Amazing job with your Boat. No matter if the job is big or small, you do it right, clean, and professional. On another note, I don't have any Tattoos myself, but you have some Great Art Work going on there. Stay Safe and Keep Living Your Dreams ‼️🙂
I recall a project written up in a magazine about 10 years ago where they replaced the old lights with recessed halogen lights in the cabin overhead. I couldn’t believe they didn’t understand the heat given off by halogen might start a fire in the boat wood frame and assorted insulation they planned to use. LED has changed the lighting concepts so much, even being available in daylight or warm light, and multicolor if desired.
That's one of the things we would be worried about changing out lights, LEDs are definitely a game changer and we will be adding more throughout the boat soon.
Awesome series guys. Following along on every episode. I'm excited to see what the problem with the motor was and see that get fixed and back out on the water!
I am a former Uniflite long term owner, There is need for sound insulation in the engine room as there is approximately 6" already installed in the floor and the hatches which you will note if you pull the main engine hatches under the rug. Also, no need for insulation in the for ward cabin as it is a foam cared hull. . Best hulls in the industry!
We are looking into ways to get the engine noise down inside the boat and were considering removing the fiber insulation in the engine room and replacing it with a soundproofing foam. We may just lay down that rubber with lead in the middle on the salon deck but we're still looking at options.
I’m so stoked to see the finished product!! You guys are awesome and I’m excited to see the journey this takes y’all on!! Keep up the great content and work. Congratulations on the progress so far!! God bless
Started your series today, had a great time watching it. I started a project boat not to long ago, you guys made it look fun and worth the effort. Thanks for the motivation.
As for sound deadening, I’ve had good luck with Dynamat, really common in the car community. It’s reflective so it would help reflect some of that radiant heat. Would love to see an episode on the nav system of the boat some day. Does it have a radar system, or autopilot?
Thanks for the suggestion we'll look into dynamite. We have quite a bit of work to do on the nav systems. There is a radar, autopilot and old chartplotter but we don't know the status of those systems yet. We will definitely be doing a video on those in the future.
@@SeekingSeas Cool! I’ll bet the speedometer uses an old Pitot tube, I’d just replace it with a GPS fed gauge. I modernized the gauge cluster on my 70’s Bayliner and didn’t want to drill more holes in the transom to keep the analog sender.
FYI, You have to be careful when buying anything marked "Stainless Steel". Just because it says "Stainless Steel" doesn't mean it won't corrode. If you want stainless steel that does not corrode you have to get the stuff made from 904 stainless steel or marine/aircraft grade stainless steel. 904 stainless steel is a nickle based steel where as other forms of stainless steel is iron based. You may already know this but thought I'd mention it just in case you didn't.
Except for the trim, all the "wood" is teak-faced plywood. If you sanded it you would end up looking at plywood in about 15 seconds. I know this because I built boats like this at Uniflite.
@@SeekingSeas Your idea was perfect! I have the led replacements for a dome light, you are right, they are nowhere near as bright as your new ones! I'm terribly sorry if my original comment came off as condescending, now that I read it again, it seems poorly thought out. Love the channel!
It would probably be better to insulate the salon floor instead of the engine room. There are products made to do this and it doubles as a carpet pad. I did this on my boat and it worked very well. It has a layer of lead shield and the top was a rubber mat. Also keeps the floor cooler.
Ah, you're right. We considered doing another round of staples just to tuck everything in but I suppose we should have just done it all in one step, thanks!
We have a Sony ZV-1 and a GoPro Hero 10. The Sony is what we use most of the time as it has good audio quality. Eventually we may be able to upgrade but these cameras are working well for us now.
How did you guys learn to do all this? From the electricals to the plumbing to the engines? I'm young and have very little experience and knowledge in these areas, and one day I wanna be able to do these kind of things. How would I go about getting to that kind of level?
We talk a little bit about our backgrounds in the Q&A portion of episode 14. Jesse has worked on cars, done construction, and worked on boats for most of his life. His professional background is cybersecurity with a specialty in embedded devices. My (Hannah) background is in computer science and I specialize in automotive cybersecurity and have mentored robotics to high school students for many years so I have experience with electrical and more importantly general engineering problem solving skills. Jesse has a lot of knowledge and sometimes we're just figuring it out as we go. The best way to learn is by just trying it. These days a lot of information can be gained by youtubers, or if you have an opportunity to work with a mentor thatd be great. Taking this boat on as a restoration project and doing most of the work ourselves has been the best learning experience for me. Good luck with your future projects!
Last time I was writing about the submergible pump. Now my thought: Your inverter seems to be under the galley seats - could there be a different placement - more up so if there is some flooding it is longer save.
That fabric looks really good everything looks like new 👍👍🙏🇬🇧
Wow just wow 😯 fabulous lights 😎😎😎😎
They made such a huge difference!
This ole soldier is living a dream with you two. Dios te Bendiga...
Holy cow you guys, super cool.
Crawley on the lead, love it!
Lighting in an engine room is so nice. It’ll be interesting to see how that sticky tape holds up over time with the engine room heat.
We'll provide an update if we have any issues!

They used the tape to secure the fabrics Tight before stapling then off. Makes so easy....
Love those falls... and so close to the parking lot and even to PA.

Seat covers look really good and the new floor/paint in the engine room with those new lights, what a difference. Great job guy's.
These videos are awesome! I need more. Oh and we all know who’s running the show over there, Crowley.

We definitely took a risk with that choice but it turned out pretty good. We really like it, thanks.

Get automotive boom mat or dynamat for noise reduction in the engine room 👍
Thank you, we'll look into that

@@SeekingSeas Don't mix up dynamat and dynamite ;)
After the Dynamat or Kilmat , use Noico Red 150 (mil ) , that’ll help deaden it and cool it down the cabin above .
Great lights!!!!
Not sure if the sticky, will stay stuck with the elements they will be exposed to?
They came with mounting brackets as well, so we'll install those if the adhesive doesn't work. So far so good though.
How is life on the boat so far? Love seeing you progress on restoring it! It's gonna turn into a really nice boat!
It's been a great experience so far, a lot of work and more to come, but we are enjoying it together, which is the most important part.
Maybe also add some solar panels later for the main batterys?
We would love to get some solar panels, we're still looking for the right ones.

Wow, crazy awesome lighting project. You should leave a link to where you purchased your lights in the description.
We will add that to the description, thank you.
That pegboard has insulation behind it
Yeah we'll need some more though, we can barely hear eachother in the salon when the engines are running
hey guys i have a suggestion, maybe you could sand down all the would to make it more of a modern colour/shade.
Not a bad idea, any color you had in mind?
@@SeekingSeas Like a light oak, just a lighter, more modern colour to really match the greys and whites that are now in the boat
Except for the trim, all the "wood" is teak-faced plywood. If you sanded it you would end up looking at plywood in about 15 seconds. I know this because I built boats like this at Uniflite.
Those "old school lights" are 12v automotive lights. Those are found in dome lights and glove boxes. you can 100% buy LED replacements for them.
Those old school bulbs are called Festoon bulbs, I remember them when they first appeared lol.
We thought about it but the lumen output wasn't as high and the cost was a bit more. We thought we'd try these out at least for the engine room.

That sounds like a much easier way to go about it. Can you install any type of flooring on top, or does it have to be carpet?
If you folded the edges over when stapling the fabric, the loose threads would be concealed.
Ah, you're right. We considered doing another round of staples just to tuck everything in but I suppose we should have just done it all in one step, thanks!
Another good episode. Can you tell me what equipment you are using for video and audio recording?
We have a Sony ZV-1 and a GoPro Hero 10. The Sony is what we use most of the time as it has good audio quality. Eventually we may be able to upgrade but these cameras are working well for us now.

I already bought this kind of LEDs, be carreful to the heat it produces, mostly if it's chinese LEDs but what a crazy difference!
Thanks for the warning, we'll keep an eye on that.
engine room lights were impressive but not as impressive is how good kitty walks on a leash..
Last time I was writing about the submergible pump. Now my thought: Your inverter seems to be under the galley seats - could there be a different placement - more up so if there is some flooding it is longer save.
This is where the old one was installed, it is a couple feet above the bilge so if we have water there we have much larger problems, lol.
Not sure if I would trust adhesive strips in that environment. May want to add a few screw or even some tie wraps.
Thanks for the suggestion, we'll see how they hold up and reevaluate.
Invest in an electric stapler gun, save your hands and forearms.
Great advice, that was definitely a workout.
is boat for sale?
Not at the moment. Someday..maybe.
Humm... This ohne with the stikys on long therm will not hold. The heath will weaken the glue. Better to secure this with some screws.
Please screw the lights up in engine room as well as heat will let glue go
We will screw them up, we were planning on putting up soundproofing in the engine room first.
