Austins was the shortest burn out i have ever seen a funny car do, he was just about level with the tree when he stopped, didnt harm him any though.
It’s not mostly about distance covered in the burnouts but mostly grip & traction achieved by doing it correctly
Love this camera angle makes me think I’m back at Pomona for the Winternationals 🔥
Good editing!!
Glad you think so!
Fox’s coverage of the NHRA is at least twice as painful as their coverage of NASCAR and that’s saying something.
Did Q 3 get completed Saturday? Is this Saturday or early Sunday morning?
Q3 was on Saturday!
Is this Friday or Saturday ? Saturday must have had a rain delay until later in afternoon
Definitely Saturday because 3rd Qualifying Session is always the day before Finals (Sunday) !
Q3 and Q4 were on Saturday. The rain delayed the morning and pushed everything back.
Just curious & hoping someone more knowledgeable about such things can shed some light:
Some of the burnouts appear nearly as violent as the launch to make their race run, but no flames are seen exiting the pipes at night.
Why is that? Is it simply because they're not actually going full throttle during their burnouts? And is that because the water the drive over make applying full throttle during their burnouts unnecessary?
There is a throttle stop on the linkage during the burnout.
Only uses 10 percent throttle.
@@gregolin1726 Ah ha! Thanks Greg. And man oh man are these cars powerful! I've so far only attended 1 event at the Texas Motorplex years ago, and will never forget feeling the force they generate upon leaving the starting line in my chest from outside of the track.
We arrived a few minutes late, and were still outside walking towards the entrance when the first cars in round 1 took off. My wife and I had that "first timers not ready" reaction, looked at each other, and simultaneously said something like "Holy F***!" I've been hooked ever since, and appreciate you taking the time to help me learn something new about these amazing vehicles.
Kool !!!!
Any chassis builders out there coming up with an all new funny car chassis designs showing how much more the driver will be protected better then what's being used today wonder if they could use the area From the engine back adding tubing to all that dead space and reworking the drivers compartment yes it might add weight and slow the vehicles down a tad in the long run the drivers safety is worth more then metal and plastic
Very cool cam work. Thx
Glad you enjoyed it
