- The Australian’s Sophie Elsworth says she will be very interested to hear what Karl Stefanovic, should he decide to speak out, has to say about comments from Lisa Wilkinson in her new book.
"There's problems in this story," Ms Elsworth said.
It comes as Australian television presenter Lisa Wilkinson has revealed in her new book an equal pay dispute with Mr Stefanovic led to her termination at Channel 9.

Pay in the entertainment industry is never about how much work you do or how valuable your work is. It's about how much value you employer puts on you, which stems from how much money you make for them. Why does a morning show host or a half decent footballer in Australia get 10-20 times what a highly skilled nurse, teacher, firie, ambo or cop get?

The employer can go hire them, instead a FALSE value is placed by the employer on that person because it’s all a big club and they just scratch each other’s backs. If you want to see some embarasing historical video of Lisa. She was on the panel of Beauty and the beast with Stan Zemanek. Pauline hanson was a guest panelist (1997?) and Lisa tore into her in all her left righteousness. Jeannie Little stood up for Pauline and I think it was Rose Hancock who got stuck into Pauline as well. It seems to have disappeared. It used to be easily found and is very enlightening to the ongoing Lisa/Pauline awkwardness.
The real question is why would anyone get paid $2M to be a morning show host. It isn't rocket science. I am sure I could walk down the street and find people to do it for one-tenth of that price
No one gets paid $2mil to be "just a morning show host". Karl had 3 shows on the go at one time.
Lisa seemed happy on the morning show on the project she seems angry, colourless and joyless, there was an ease she had with Karl but here on the project she always has an axe to grind with someone or something
The issue of who gets paid more OR who gets paid less for the job is irrelevant.
What matters is if both Karl and Lisa were offered equal opportunity to negotiate their total rewards with their employer. Equal opportunity doesn't have to translate to equal pay, but equal opportunity to 'negotiate'. It is a test of an individual's (him/her) negotiation skills.
Feminist isn't looking for equality opportunity. They want equal outcome while working less. That's the equality feminist want.
