I was living in Chicago back 1974-75 and a friend name George Kalchen put me on Return to Forever and I haven't heard anything before of since like this - the Greatest Band Ever!!!!
Wny these guys broke up after the Romantic Warrior album, an act that broke millions of musician hearts around the world, is a question I would have asked. We were all waiting to see how they would top that, and unfortunately we didn't get the chance. I'm still upset about that.
I have tickets for the 8/1/08 show in Orlando... with a VIP pass to actually meet RTF at a 'meet-n-greet'... I can't wait!! I'm still stunned from their show in Philly >30 years ago.
How appropriate that they would hang out with Yes. Both bands created some fantastic complex music, just in slightly different genres. I think Al is one of those guys who just never ages, but they're all looking pretty fit to me compared to some of my prog rock heroes from the 70's.
I think this was the tour where I saw them play in NYC in Spanish Harlem or near there in a big hall that, I think, used to be a muslim temple or something. Were any of you at that concert, and was that this same tour?
Chick, Lenny, Stanley released a double album maybe 10 years ago or so where on the second disc Bill Connors actually plays on at least Señor Mouse (and I think on Cosmic Rain as well). They are studio takes and either a special occasion or a rehearsal for some gig (maybe he sat in). But it's recorded after this 2008 reunion. Jean Luc Ponty and Chaka Khan are on that disc as well.
@SonGotenEX same here dude.....and wow im responding to a really old comment.....but im seeing them in september, i dont think al is gonna be with them though
they are constantly writing for other people, always conscious of what they think we want to hear. when the fans really want something they've written for themselvs. we want to hear RTF, not RTF fans. this goes for all their solo stuff too. hard to explain. all i can say, its a very commercial way to approach a reunion. they could have done a lot better if they would have kept it simple. they didnt even write any new pieces!
The four horsemen of jazz fusion and one of the greatest bands of all time
So so sorry that Chick has left us, but the joy and appreciation of this magnificent quartet will live on and Return to Forever!

I really wish Bill Connors will go up there and join them for a few tunes, like "Space Circus"!
I've seen the original Meters a few years back, and I will go see them in Chicago in June.
LOL.. could you imagine RTF jamming with YES?? That is funny what Lenny said about Mrs. Howe when he was hanging out with Patrick Moraz and Steve Howe
To see the reaction on all of Yes’ faces when “Medieval Overture” played…. Mind blowing music!!!
❤

Great interview, but who's idea was that annoying reverse cymbal insert?
