A lot of people don't realize how dangerous Grand Admiral Thrawn is. Darth Vader was the empire's hammer. Thrawn is a scalpel, cold and precise. It's why he's my favorite SW villain and character.
That's because the show only TALKED about how dangerous he is and not SHOWED him being dangerous. I hope live action fans will see how dangerous he can be soon enough.
“To defeat an enemy, you must know them. Not simply their battle tactics, but their history, philosophy, art.” - Grand Admiral Thrawn Not only is Thrawn a creepy and interesting villain, but he’s also one of the BEST!!! Ruthless and dangerous like Vader and Palpatine without the need of Force powers or a lightsaber, just his brilliant strategic mind and loyalty from his subordinates.
The more i watch this show, the more intrigued I become with Baylan's backstory. Like I wanna know more about his journey. Love this character! RIP Ray Stevenson. 🙏
The handling of Ray Stevenson's character will be as it was originally written. Filming was completed long before his tragic passing. Sadly whether his character lives or dies it will be the last we see him. Such a shame.
Lars Mikkelsen is really damn good, like his brother, at acting with his eyes and facial expressions while being great at voice acting. There aren't many actors who can pull off the way Thrawn talks and I'm glad Lars Mikkelsen was casted in the live action role that he was so good in the "Rebels" tv series.
8:33 "she can't be out here by herself it's too dangerous". Sabine is a fully trained since birth Mandalorian warrior, she's also gone through the Imperial Academy so she's also basically a fully trained Stormtrooper and fighter pilot, and she's been trained by two Jedi to wield a lightsaber, she may be the most highly trained non-force wielding (that may change) person in the Star Wars universe now that I think about it, with her gear on and with her weapons (she's just missing her helmet here) she is just as capable as any other Mandalorian, and remember Mandalorians are the way they are because they were enemy's of the Jedi in ancient times and a Mandalorian is capable of killing a Jedi/Sith when it comes down to it. So she's fine wandering this planet on her own.
The best parts about this episode was we finally got to see Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger come to live action plus Thrawn’s Night Troopers are badass. And also Huyang saying the famous Star Wars quote “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…”
Thrawn and his history with the rebels is better covered in the last two seasons of _Star Wars Rebels._ Though, I'd also recommend Timothy Zahn's Thrawn novels (canon and legends) as they are the best of Thrawn and also where he comes from. Zahn's original Thrawn trilogy is also what showed Lucas there was still an audience for more Star Wars. Years later, he came back with the prequels. In fact, earlier in this series when Ahsoka called Thrawn the "Heir to the Empire", that was the title of the first ever book to feature Thrawn. He's such an interesting character. Unlike other Imperials, Thrawn's tactical genius easily makes him the best military commander in the Empire and his understanding of of his enemies by studying their history, art, philosophy, tactics and connections is unparalleled. He impressed the Emperor himself and became the only non-human to hold such a high rank. He also respects another culture's art, a likeable trait. He was able to figure out Vader was Anakin by simply observing him during a mission together. When introduced, he also brought the rank "Grand Admiral" into the Star Wars universe, and the first non-human, making his introduction unique. The books were so well-written, you often found yourself rooting for Thrawn. He's never cruel or evil just for the sake of it, but someone who genuinely believed in order (I hope they don't ruin that about him). He rewarded creativity, even when it failed, where most other leaders would apply corrective training or maybe just fired the guy. If managing a tractor beam was too much, the Empire still needed mess cooks. In Thrawn (2017), when making his report on fellow Imperials who had attacked him, rather than allowing punishment for them, he recommended them to the piloting program because of their coordination skills in their attack. Every rebel win could be a victory for the rebels, but would be a minor setback for Thrawn. The Thrawn trilogy (which had a very sci-fi approach, more than most Star Wars) also reversed the power structure we were used to. This time, it was the Imperial officer who had a relative handful of ships and no real army going up against established New Republic. We got to see him using the same sort of creativity and hit-and-run (or hit-and-fade) attacks that we would have expected from the Rebellion. He was like the space version of an anti-Sherlock Holmes. I truly hope this "Mandoverse" corner of Star Wars pays off what made Thrawn such a unique villain in Star Wars, even thirty years later. I also hope these shows continue building off of the groundwork _Clone Wars_ and _Rebels_ set up because that's a whole new set of characters and storylines right there.
@@atomicwarrior665 I have a feeling that one of them is going to be in danger and the other will save them. Also, Ezra is Sabine's possible love interest. That is very obvious.
15:30 - I would counter that Ezra never intended Thrawn to be exiled in particular. He called the whales in without knowing what was going to happen, with a plan simply to stop Thrawn's attack on Lothal. So while he did what he needed to in order to stop Thrawn, I think Ezra didn't know what exactly was going to happen.
This series continues to deliver. I am sure there will be dissent over this episode being slower then the last two, but I think we needed the slow down and set up to launch us into the final 2 episodes. Baylan continues to be super intriging and I really want to see more of where his arc is going. Finally, I really need to know ... "What is in those crates?!"
I don't know, Baylan is sort of giving off some Thanos vibes with his talk about going back to the "beginning," that the you need to destroy in order to create. He has that same kind of conviction and certainty of rightness and purpose in his world view that Thanos did, which actually kind of makes him a little more frightening and dangerous. But still... he's a really cool character.
Given the Inquisitor disappeared into green smoke, I wonder, with all the damage and red cloth bands, if the Night Troopers are undead zombies too. Not as great as last week but this is a good progression of the story.
So I think this episode sets up Thrawns weakness which will lead to his doom. His dismissive attitude to emotion/love/relationship.. he is cold and tactical, and doesn't understand the strength in love. When Sabine says "you wouldn't understand". Him not understanding is what will be his undoing
To be fair, Thrawn in the novels has had many friendships and does care for others. Most notably Eli Vanto, who helped him rise through the ranks as his aide. There is a camaraderie that he understands, if he doesn’t fully express it.
Though I do think his previous battles with Ezra and the rebels have opened his eyes to the strength of love and friendship. He'll definitely be more wary of it this time.
real talk if I was Ahsoka, this would turn to a story about her becoming a Sith Lord as SOON as they opened fire on the star whales like, everyone going. Sabina and Ezra get a pass. Everyone getting chopped, the witch, the double agents, the Thrawn, the ships, the planets, surrounding stars. The darkness between the stars ALL GETTING CHOPPED😅 (anyone who seen Guardians 3 know exactly the feelin i'm talking about lol)
"What are those things?" Have you seriously not watched the Clone Wars animated series yet? You need to go and watch it! You're missing half the references if you don't.
Regarding Baylan's opinion of the Jedi, Ahsoka also left the order because of what the Jedi had become. Instead of finding the truth, they didn't want to hear her defense.
Have you looked at the end credits? One of the Great Mothers, Klothos, is played by your very own Claudia Black! Aeryn Sun of Farscape! Oh, happy birthday, by the way. Sorry I missed your stream.
The mood and tone of this series is obviously much different, but the circumstances are similar to when Richard Harris (Dumbledore) passed away after the second Harry Potter movie. As the character was such an integral part of the story arc, they had to recast the role with Michael Gambon. The question here is how does Baylon figure in the story after the completion of season one? If there is a second season, is he still a factor in the story arc going forward. It seems to be that he is a key cog right now. Guess we'll all find out together.
Thrawn's entrance was everything I hoped for. I was skeptical of Lars reprising the live-action role, but he was magnificent. (The chilling score VERY much adds to it.) The original opening chapter of "Heir to the Empire" had Thrawn's Star Destroyer the Chimera easily defeat a New Republic fleet of four ships, I hope before the series ends we get to see a similar scene, to establish his threat level. (And maybe see some of those smug senators who didn't believe Hera get their comeuppance.) My biggest fear with this series is I do feel we have a beloved character death at the end of it. Who, I can't say. But it feels like someone has to die to show how serious of a threat Thrawn is to the galaxy, to lead into Filoni's upcoming Star Wars movie.
You should watch the animated series "Clone Wars" and "Rebels"...this is a continuation of those two series...you will get a better history of asohka and Sabine and Ezra
7:40 not her lightsaber that's Ezra's lightsaber. And Thrawn being so calm ect, he may be the smartest military leader the Star Wars universe has ever known, he is as dangerous as Palpatine or Vader from a military/political leader aspect. If he had been around at the time of the battle of Endor that may have ended differently...
Well...Baylen and Shin did slaughter the entire crew of a Republic starship just to free a Nightsister of Dathomir who hired him to do it. I'm not too sure I think his desire to end the conflict for good isn't going to be very...Thanos-like.
Hey, Mary, I Loved the reaction. Episode 6. Had a Great Way Showing the Slight difference in Time. Between What Ahsoka Went through Last Episode. (Because She was Out for a Full day after Her ''World Between Worlds'' Ordeal) Compared to the Other Group Getting to Thrawn a Day Or so ahead of Ahsoka. Also, For the Shows Plot Sabine Getting to Ezra (And Thrawn) Is Great. But, Ezra Put his Galaxy (And Everyone's Life) Over His Own Life. Sacrificing Everything To Banish Thrawn (And Himself). Sabine Did the Opposite (So When Ezra Finds Out Sabine Helped Thrawn's Allies, went Against Ahsoka's (Last Command to Destroy the Star map. Ezra Has GREAT RESPECT FOR AHSOKA!) I do Not See Ezra Being Very Happy. I have a Feeling Next Episode Ezra Will hear about it all. not by Sabine . Baylon Skoll Will Find them and Tell Ezra All about Sabine Helping Him get to Thrawn. Baylon Is Great at Manipulation (Especially Before a fight to throw his Opponent Off Balance!)
First things first: Happy Belated Birthday, Mary Cherry!!! Great reaction. Regarding the late Ray Stevenson, he died well after primary production, and nearly at the end of post production (if not also after the fact). His survival, or death, in this series is predetermined. If he does survive, then it'll be the next Filoni project that will have to address the actor's death.
Lol Elon Musk wishes he could be a third as smart and cool as Thrawn. Also Star Wars blasters aren’t lasers, and they have ammo in the form of gas that does run out.
Good voice when you were singing about Sabine's Howler. Judging by the guitar you have, I wonder if you are a professional singer. We will be anxiously awaiting your new hit song "Rat Dog". 🥳😄😄
@MaryCherryOfficial happy birthday hope you have a fantastic day. Definitely considering how much information gets put in each episode. Here's the consideration though when you notice that the purrgil at the opening of the episode was a tie in when grogu saw the purgill in the season 3 Episode of the mandalorian
I love how Thrawn went to the Night Sisters and ask them to resurrect all of the dead stormtroopers on his ship to become his Night Troopers Army (Zombie Stormtroopers).
Jadd J.A.D.D. Jadd Happy Birthday Mary. This series is a lot like the Spider-Verse movies and No Way Home. Nostalgia is strong but it fits into the story well and is organic. 2 episodes left, and I can't wait for what they have installed.
Disney Star Wars is a piece of c*** or trash. George Lucas's Star Wars is completely awesome. George Lucas Star Wars is movies 1 through 6 and clone wars seasons, 1 through 5. A lot of the original Star Wars fans left Disney Star Wars. So the only fans that are left are the bandwagoners. All this current Disney Star Wars fans is helping Disney ruin Star Wars. Disney ruined Star Wars by releasing their own version of the sequel, trilogy. Instead of George Lucas's version of the sequel trilogy, which he was already working on before he sold the company.

I Agree 100%. And Thrawn is a Analytical Genius
Thrawn is much more than a villain.
Great way to describe Vader and Thrawn.
That's because the show only TALKED about how dangerous he is and not SHOWED him being dangerous. I hope live action fans will see how dangerous he can be soon enough.
I fear that a scalpel won't be able to cut through plot armor
“To defeat an enemy, you must know them. Not simply their battle tactics, but their history, philosophy, art.”

Honestly I hope his master had the name Vorenus
Super sad that Ray died, think the character has a lot of potential beyond the Ahsoka series
The handling of Ray Stevenson's character will be as it was originally written. Filming was completed long before his tragic passing. Sadly whether his character lives or dies it will be the last we see him. Such a shame.
Sadly agree. It’s such a shame he’ll never be able to attend another Celebration. The reception he’d get from the fans would be rapturous.

Ezra looked just like his father :,)
I doubt Thrawn would appreciate being likened to a man of such vanity and incompetence as Musk.
She called it a rat dog I thought it was more of a horse puppy..lol
Baylin Skoll. "The enemy of our enemy is our friend, for now" ... ... Sun Tzu would approve
*Lars Mikkelsen was born to play Grand Admiral Thrawn!*
And when I heard “I knew I could count on you” from Eman Esfandi as Ezra I almost cried.
Not gonna lie, i was sceptical where i heard him talk in that flashback, but honestly i had all my fears about Ezra quashed with this episode
wes chatham can hide all he wants in that stormtrooper costume.. we know hes still that guy

Thrawn entrance was extremely epic
The thing that makes Thrawn dangerous is he studies his enemies through art their history and background cold and calculating
The three night sisters are for sure a play on the three sisters of fate from Greek mythology. They even refer to fate as a thread.

The way Sabine and Shin were looking at each other, I see a possible friendship developing between them.
