Those shutters and flower boxes look great. The paint job really made them look fantastic. I really want to build a gingerbread house for our Christmas haunt but I don't think there is enough time. Next year!
Probably best the shutters are nonfunctional if you're planing to have any flowers in those flower boxes. You wouldn't want people slamming the shutters and breaking all the flower stems. Great detail as always guys, this thing already looks super cool.
We mostly use wood because it is more durable and sturdier. You could do the same with foam but would really need to spend the time hard coating it. Most of our facades get transported after we build them so we just want to make sure it lasts as long as it can.
SavageEye that was our first choice to do and we could always do it but we have finished the roof in a shingle look because we started to hurry as it got closer to Halloween. we do think it would have looked better with straw
screaminscott it is a quick way to fill in the groves that were made with the grinder and saw which helped make it look a little more natural instead of deep machine cut marks. It also helps create a cartoon effect that makes it look different from a typical natural wooden look, plus we had the mortar already but you could use several other things, muds, mixes, or bondo to create the same effect.
I love a fella who works with his hands!!
Looking great!

Wow, so much wood! It's really great, but maybe foam...? How sturdy should it be? Great ideas as always.

Looks like someone needs to dress up as Santa this Christmas.
Beautiful! Now that you have 350 days to Halloween, I'm putting in my request for a straw roof (LOL!)...

o0o0o0o0 snap!!!
Nice
Any particular reason you used monster mud on the wood? Usually I see that done to make something look like stone.

You mention "mudding over the shutters" is that a product or are you using ordinary mortar?
Flexbond mortar
Was this recorded before the sky clouded over and the water fell and completely ruined your Halloween?
Admiral Preparedness no this is one of the things we did not have time to make before Halloween but hoped to had finished for set up
