if I use this stick on a 21:9 1440P monitor, can I used the monitor's USB ports in conjuction with the stick ? Probably not... How do I connect keyboard and mouse to control Android, can I? Else, I might get more from Samsung DeX since I have some Samsung phones?
Unfortunately you can't do the trick with the monitor USB ports.
You can buy however an OTH cable with USB port and it will work ☺️
Bought one and I’m looking forward to receive it - I have heard that we can expand storage using an OTG adapter … if that’s important to some people it’s a good idea to do some research on that. Nice video !

@@TechMishka have it for about a month as I said and I’m surprised with the performance and very happy with the portability! I’m currently on vacation and brought it with me - i have Netflix, HBOMax, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and I can have the chance to see them all without any problems in any hotel i stay in. I have an Android Box , Hako Pro with 4gb and 64gb of ram but I’m a huge fan of this small factor format which is easy to carry and as much effective as a bigger and higher spec box (only noticeable thing is a faster loading times but not by far). The OTG works like a charm too, and I’ve had the chance of playing games with a remote and also expanding storage (which is not very important in my personal opinion)

@@sorrysan6779never noticed that. It works fine as far as I know. Just be careful not to use up the storage because it will start slowing down a bit . And when connecting with tv usb it will start when turning the tv on, so it will need some time to stabilize

Hey, great video as always! Is it possible to play sdr content in sdr, or does it force hdr on everything? Does it have the setting to turn off sdr to hdr? This is important to avoid getting over saturated colours on sdr content.
Did you find an answer to this? My tv has bad hdr and would like to universally turn it off

It sometimes lags on buffer in Chromecast/streaming, slow start and slower respons.
I kind used to this problems but if I see fast and butter smooth the new works 🙂
if you need something much faster and smoother - perhaps nVidia SHield TV is the quickest among all. But this one definitely feels snappy.
Go to developer setting and disable all animations. Also, limit background app. I did that with my mi stick and no hang, lag at all. I also attached nvme heatsink on the stick to help dissipate some heat of the casing. Though I have given away mine, after using for two years, it served its purpose well
Chromecast with android os, i think is better because you can connect a dongle with usbc, have ethernet jack and external storage support. Also downside, if you connect this at the back of a tv, it will eat some space ad can have the tv near the wall..

"..and external storage support" - sure, but is it like Google TV 4k with no NTFS support, only Fat 32 which means nothing above 4GB? If yes, this makes it useless if you want to watch 4k movie or even full hd that is above 4GB from external storage...

True that! But I also have a rule that I follow - when I want to get to know some sort of tech that I intend to use, I buy a second-hand unit from a previous generation to get to know what I really need.
In fact - this player is not much worse than nVidia Shield TV for daily use.

You can use a splitter cable on that micro usb, the one that splits into micro usb female for power and usb female to connect whatever you wish

Did you pair xiaomi remote to your TV over CEC? What happens if you long press volume buton? Is volume increasing automatically or only for one stage?
Hey Miran, good question. But I haven't used CEC as I have connected it to a plain monitor for the test.
Can you test DTS:X / HD Master Audio / TrueHD?
Yeah, I can give it a try as long as you give some more specific use case/app you are interested in.
@@TechMishka best case would be plex with for example an uhd blu-ray rip connected to an avr/soundbar that would indicate if any of the Audio tracks are bitstreamed. If not Plex VLC and Just Player also have audio passthrough options
Second this. I have an LG sk10y soundbar and the only way for me to get Dolby Atmos true HD would be to plug an Nvidia Shield into it. If Mi 4k would achieve that effect it would save me a lot money. Can you try an atmos trueHD mkv with this stick plugged into a soundbar and tell me whether you're getting atmos sound?

Why can't I find any official information about the CPU clock speed? They only say Quad Core Cortex A35, but the speed of each core? do you have any info?
For example: "Chromecast with Android TV" is also Quad Core, but Cortex A55, with 1.9 GHz clock rate.

What standards of HDR does it support?
Hi, hows the remote control, is it connected with bluetooth or if? Do you have to point the remote directly at the stick for it to work? I know some andriod boxes comes with rubbish remotes so wondering how good it works. Firestick remotes works perfectly. Also is it possible to revamp the netflix and the prime buttons to something else? Thanks
This one doesn't need direct visibility. It is Bluetooth based

That I haven't tried myself - but it should work that way, yes. It will require less than 2A. Most TV's USB ports can provide that much of energy.
Loved your review. did you experience any overheating issues in the new mi tv stick 4k? the old 1080 mi tv stick has issues with getting very hot and laggy then restarting by itself.
I'm currently scouring the web looking for a fix. It's on a restart loop
I haven't got into overheating, but I guess if I push it enough for long enough, it will become quite hot.
Mine gets hot after about 20 minutes, and starts restarting by itself. I wouldn’t recommend this product for anyone.

Not that easily. It can work, but it is not as straightforward as with Android.
I am using it now but has a problem with Disney+ sound, and wonder if it happens to you and others. I plug this Xiaomi 4k tv stick directly to the HDMI port of my AV AMP (a 2018 model Onkyo) and Disney+ only output 2 channel sound. In contrast, the Netflix app can output Dolby Atmos under the exact same setup. Any advice? Thanks

The Xiaomi 4K TV stick has a newer processor and SoC, however the Mi Box S has better temperature management and a physical USB port.
@@TechMishka True and false. The new xiaomi 4k stick has a 35% more efficiently SoC and processor with lower temperature. So the issue of the older models (1080p sticks) are solved. More: the OS of xiaomi 4k stick is Android TV 11 and finally has the newest codecs: Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, both future proof as the Alliance will turn them imperative codecs starting this year. The real advantage of Xiaomi S Box is fiability, stability and no problems at all. Sorry for this dive into the matter
The standard Google play store on smart TV is restricting apps to install, does this stick make it possible to install the same amounts of apps as on an Android phone?
It is android TV based, so all these restrictions apply. You can still use alternatives like Aptoide, though.

The stick is cooler than the 1080p edition, but still quite warm. The Mi Box S performance is more consistent and you do have a USB port.

Yes, you need power input in order the Mi TV Stick 4K to work. It has no in-built battery.

Any buffering issues streaming 4K content over WiFi in RUclips or Netflix since it's got no LAN port.
If your WiFi signal is good - not at all. These days WiFi can be as reliable as cable LAN.

This Mi 4K stick with same specs was launched in other countries 1.5 years before. Its too late now. Rather buy Fire TV Stick 4K Max with is easily available for cheap price than this local chinese stick in sale and it has better optimization.
don`t see a reason to import more than 2 gigs of ram since androidTV consumes substantially less resources than a regular one.
Would be helpful for some heavier games.

. If you play a hdr it doesnt exit bt2022 color space and you need to close a little the device.
