FH and Flugelhorn. Why isn’t this more common? Well done.
I thought it couldn't done. I am now going to learn jazz for the French Horn. I thought I was restricted to just classical and march, but I now see that I can express myself with my favorite wind instrument.
When I was active with brass ensemble I'd purchased some very nice arrangements of jazz classics. If you primarily perform solo you'll most likely enjoy arrangements and originals written for Fr. horn.

@@lars1588 Sure are. Google "jazz arrangements for french horn" and you'll find plenty of websites to browse. If you're into brass ensemble just Google "jazz arrangements for brass ensemble." Enjoy!
Look up Julius Watkins. He was playing on a Conn 6D when it was the "new" horn ... and he slayed it.
Loved the drummer's shirt .... nah, just kidding. I loved all of them. French horn sounds smoother than a trombone. A wonder that it hasn't caught on more in jazz.

Who is to say that you can't use any instrument to play jazz? I like how the french horn sounds calm and majestic, especially when it blends together with the cornet. That being the case, you can use every instrument you can think of, and it would still sound creative and fun.

Didn't hit the mark for me. I listened to a lot of Julius Watkins when I was in high school, that guy was absolutely amazing.
I play jazz on my french horn but not that good.
