- In today's video, Buster and I switched cameras and took to Portobello Road to ask strangers for their portraits. It was a fun exercise trying out each other's cameras and interacting with some fun characters.

About me: I initially had a clothing company that tanked. However, that experience taught how incredibly expensive it is to outsource your content creation. This prompted me to learn everything I could about photo and video. Shooting video and photo was the aspect of the business I enjoyed the most, so I made the tough decision to focus on those disciplines. Just like you, I’m still learning but I still want to share my experience with you because I love watching videos basically anything related to film photography and video. I hope you’ve taken something useful from watching my channel. It’s been proven that subscribers to my channel are 47% happier than non-subscribers. Food for thought.
Happy Shooting, Zain
I saw you on the Tom Humble channel - you’ve got some excellent content and deserve my Subscribers (you’ve got one more now) - great video, thanks, Peter.
I appreciate that a ton, Peter!
@@ZainRiza whoops - I meant of course MORE Subscribers :- )
Best shot at the end with the lady in dress = solid!
Ah thank you, Warren!
That was fun.
Thanks Dad
Just discovered your channel. This video was awesome ! Subscribing right now :D
Ah thank you!!
That lady with sunglasses. I love that shot man. Pic of the episode🤘🏻
That was my favourite as well. Thanks bro!
nice when people agree and let you grab a portrait, must feel real nice 😊
Felt great. For me, it's mostly about the little interactions.
You need the stock K type focusing screen for your F3. It has 'a Matte/Fresnel field with 3 mm split image rangefinder spot surrounded by 1 mm-wide microprism doughnut' according to mir.com
Ah thanks for that. Super helpful.
Both of you doing great images. Enjoyed the video.
Thank you, Philipp. Very kind of you.
Really like the shot of the lady at the end. Nice work lads
Thank you for getting that far into the video! haha
one of the things I still struggle with (but am currently in the process of improving on) is asking people for portraits. Candids are still my preferred way of capturing the moment but sometimes there's something that just compels you to take someones photo without coming off as a creep xD
Nice little challenge, and awesome work as always Zain!
Thank you, Jay. Kind words as always. Personally, I still prefer candid expressions, but I think knowing how to charm and ask for permission is a vital skill to have, which is why I forced myself to do this haha That inner monologue reminding myself I'm not a creep haha
I’m so torn between which camera now o want between these 2
Which do you recommend I want a really vintage look to take shots of my new daughter
You'll get vintage looks from either. To be honest, they both have really similar features. If you're not fussed about the accessories that you can get for the F3, I'd go for the A1. Cheaper and easier to find.
Go for the F3 View finder is SIGNIFICANTLY better
The A1 battery door is notorious for breaking easily and not to mention the squeaky shutter, but the led display is probably clearer than F3. Contrary to the description on the video, the F3 does have a split prism focusing screen (K type if I remember correctly). I own them both and I find the F3 much simpler and easier to use. It’ll cost you a bit more though
Damn, that just makes me miss London. It was a great place to do photo challenges with my friend. Back when I had a loaner OM-1 & my own Canon FTb-N.
Ah I'm glad it sparked some nostalgia in you haha. Where are you in the world now?
@@ZainRiza I am living in Winnipeg, Canada. It is far less interesting than London, but there are still many opportunities for photography.
You have to try the Canon F-1 next which is like the Nikon F3.
I used to own the F1 actually
My guys got super confidence again haha always when your with someone else! Still though, great response and great photos my dude
Haha nah a lot more chilled this time. No swagging up and pulling out chairs.
Cool video Zain! I just did one like this last month. Still working on the edit, should be posted soon.
I was only taking pictures of stagers though, no photo battle haha.
Nice one!
I have the same issue with my Nilkon F3. I have to take 2 shots before the meter starts working. Looks like it’s “a thing”. Is it repairable?
I have no idea as it's not my camera. Probably would have to ask a camera technician.
From what I understand, the meter only kicks in on the first actual shot of the roll
@@aravindvinayakan not entirely true. The typical malfunction of the F3 is that this feature you are mentioning does it wrong and kicks in only at the 2nd or 3rd frame (uset have reported differences here). Mine starts working on the 3rd actual frame.
@@Zrinko_Maloseja Oh! My mistake! What a dreadful problem :(
@@aravindvinayakan it's easily avoidable by just shooting manual for the first two shots, but sometimes i forget :)
Hence the lack of social distancing 😂🤣
I give you kudos for asking strangers permission! That’s the thing to do, the worst thing is to get a no and move on 😊
Great job to Buster too!
Where are you from?
Malaysia.
I love Malaysia! ☺️
Haha that kid was sweet. Asking for permission is nice but most of the time, I much prefer the candid expression, but for me it's just as important to keep my permission-asking-skills sharp haha
DA DA DA DA ZAIN RIZA
🥳
Ah man, you got a Malaysian subscriber here too. Will you be doing street photography in Malaysia?
Apa khabar, bro! Well, as soon as it's practical to travel, I'll be coming home and for sure be shooting some street.
Zain Riza khabar baik brader! Aight cool man, pape roger haha
