This is just what I was looking for. Thank you for doing this. Showing them side by side definitely helped me and I know I’ll be getting the max now. Thank you again!
Thanks for this video. I was looking for this info, and their website doesn't even have it haha. I have lots of hair and it always takes me too long to get my hair done, so I think the wide one is for me!!! Thank you!
Question: when you press the Max closed, do the plates meet exactly from the tip to the bottom? What I mean is - I have the original GHD and I really dislike it because the plates only meet at the tip, but leave a gap towards the bottom of the plates so that you can see through them - the problem this causes is that half my hair falls through out of that gap and doesn't get straightened. I have to forcefully press really hard on my straightener to close that gap which of course pulls my hair and burns my hands.
Hi there, Yes I know what you mean! Yes the plates meet consistently from the top to the bottom of the plates. This feature has been improved with each new styler launch, so it will really only be some of the old stylers which may do this. Hope that helps 😊
Hello, thanks for your video, I have thick and curly hair, so I would like to know which straightener is the best, I don't want volume and I don't care how long it takes, thanks
Brilliant video, thanks for posting. I have long thick hair, so I bought a max ghd today. I'm very concerned that it makes a rattling noise though, is this normal? The salon I bought it from said it is meant to rattle but I can't help having my doubts about this.
Hi there, Hmmmm no it shouldn't be rattling. See what the salon say, it does have a 2 year warranty, so make sure you register this online on the ghd website using the code on the silver tag on the wire. If there is anything unusual with the styler then the warranty will cover this! Hope this helps :) x
I have had my ghd for years and years now, it's the Katy perry limited edition one, that's how old it is! Im trying to decide weather or not to buy the wide plate or just buy a ghd curling wand. My question is, has fhe technology improved since back then or do they still straighten the same?
Hi there, Oh yes technology has definitely improved since your older pair of ghd’s. They work faster, designed for one stroke styling and give the hair far more shine compared to older models. The max compared to a curling wand will give very different results. Bonus with the max is that you could straighten but also create very loose curls. Whereas curling wand you will create curls, these curls will be more rounded and bouncy compared to those from curling with max (which will be a loose wave rather) if you like to straighten and create loose curls then go for max but if you like to curl mostly then I’d go for a curling wand. I hope this helps 😊
So good thank you for this video... did you say you will also compare Platnium plus next? Yes please that would be a good decider for me.... I actually feel like the gold wins in this video for the shine factor!!!
Clear, concise and straight to the point video. Thank you, you helped me decide which one to get. One small request, please can you use more softer music in the background rather than drumming sounds as it makes it harder to to concentrate. Otherwise brilliant job 👍
The curl will be practically the same due to the same plate size & same temperature of the tool. I do find you have more grip with gold whereas platinum+ glides through so smooth and easily. Mainly the difference will be your hair type as to which you choose. Platinum+ best for bleach/coloured/every day styling. I can do a video on this 😊 hope that helps x
I’m tryna decide between the max and the platinum 😩 I have long thick wavy hair and had the old max which has been amazing for years so I’m thinking upgrading to the new max should be an easy decision. I just feel I’ll miss out on the smart technology that only the platinum has 🤔 Thank you for this vid!
With platinum+ you will be able to be more versatile, curling, waving straightening. But if it’s mainly just straightening then I would choose the new ghd max! The dual-zone technology is still so so great, cuts styling time in half and will give you 80% shine. Hope this helps! X
@@silverstargirl20 This was a question I had but couldn’t find an answer for before I bought them. I’ve been using the new Max for a few weeks now and I’d say they heat up faster, lighter to hold, my hair stays straighter for longer and there’s definitely more shine. But honestly I would say if you have the old Max and it’s still working I wouldn’t buy the new ones till you had to. The difference isn’t huge and a massive annoyance for me is I have long thick hair that’s prone to frizz and the new ones aren’t taming my hair like the old ones. There’s a lot of static in my hair that I now have to use hair spray for. I hope that helps!
@@estherdarling6509 thank you sooo much for such a detailed reply. I also do have long and frizzy hair. I have tried so many hair straighteners including ghd max , ghd glide , t3 single pass , Remington , tony & guy professional hair straightener but the problem I always face is lack of shine , and sleekness . Every hair straighteners have tried so far sadly does not give me sleek and shiny frizz free hair which I loveee . 😢. That’s y I was thinking to get the new ghd max styler.
@@silverstargirl20 also! I forgot the new ones are curved so you can put lose curls and waves. And I’d say with the old ones I only had to run through a section twice, while now I need to do it three times. That’s all the differences I’ve noticed 😊
Price is totally worth it! Ghd are quality products and they last so well! If you have curly hair and like to smooth it with straighteners then I’d go for max as it will give you more shine and you’ll be able to style your hair faster!

Why use a straightening iron to curl, you get a much better result with a curling iron. I have never understood the logic behind it.
