Loved the video and very educational. I just bought an h3 on line and I think I did ok on the price according to your video. Pick it up tomorrow. Wish me luck!
I have wanted one of these for 3 decades. I finally got one!!!!! (I'm a 317 guy). It HAD the serial number right where it is supposed to be (like all those old Garden Tractors), but after I picked it up (about 5 days after I paid for it and got it home), NO Serial Number Plate!!! It was just not there. It was at an Estate Sale and I told the Seller I couldn't pick it up for days as it was not running and came with original tiller and snow blade. It is an H3 (?? Three hydraulic levers). It looks exactly like the one in this RUclips, but I am just beyond unhappy someone removed the serial number after I purchased it. How Do I Check the Serial Number Another Way? Can I get JD to issue me a new/replacement number? I purchased it from the daughter of the original owner (her Dad) so I know I can get hand written documentation and it was purchased locally from a Dealer still in business.
Were the rivets still there? Was there evidence of drilling the rivets out, or prying the plate off the rivet stems? I wonder if they took the ID plate off, to sell it? I literally saw an ad the other day, where somebody was selling one of those ID plates! What the hell for, I don’t know. I can’t see a good reason where you would need one of those that wasn’t your own.
I’ve seen most of these 100 series hoods are cracked, chipped, etc. Normally, people run into fence posts, trees, and things like that. Now that I think about it, when I was a kid, I was being allowed to learn on my dad’s 110….I was heading towards a maple tree in the yard, panicked, and ran into the tree. I don’t remember for sure, but I think I probably cracked that hood.
Does Kohler still sell rebuild "kits"? Can you get an original piston, rings, gasket set, ?...... I have determined my tractor is completely original. It came with tiller, and the same blade you have. It has not been repainted, but it looks just like yours. The hood and light are not cracked. It was always in a barn in the southwest. The seat is trash. I got it running by adding fuel to the tank and a battery. It runs smooth with no smoke at start up.
And another thing to look out for, the fan inside of the motor if it spins, it's a good thing if not fix it asap it will overheat bad and spit and spudder, mine has a 3point and i got it for 150$ brand new carb runs and purs like a kitten and the only issue i have with it is a hole in metal for hydrolic line, milkey trans and they did not come with drain plugs DO NOT TRY AND PUT ONE ON it will crack the casing on it and its no good then
I’ve been watching your Channel for a long time and with all of your tractors you inspired me to buy my own i bought a 1967 bolens husky 750 they are pretty rare and I got a snow blower for only 600 dollars the guy didn’t know what he was doing selling it for like hat low of a price it is in pristine condition and it had nothing wrong with it got it off of Facebook marketplace and the guy said people were asking for like 2,000 dollars but he kept the price he was an old feller so can you buy a old and beat up on and fix it up because I haven’t seen any of those kind of videos on RUclips about fixing up old 1967 bolens 750s if you are gonna get an old beat up 1967 bolens 750 I recommend Facebook marketplace thanks for reading my comment😊
I'm not gonna buy any bolens, they are junky. They were one of the lighter duty fakes back then like craftsman is now. I only buy the best ones. To be honest even the gravelys which are my 2nd choice are way behind the John deeres in quality. The John deere has always been the best on the market
What is "float" (translated for a non-tractor knowing guy like me)? M JD 317 manual talks about float. It only has two levers (HD2??). I just dont get "float"
Sweet machine thanks for informative video, just bought one a couple weeks ago

What’s the left pedal for?
-Is that for the parking brake?
Thanks for the info! I just picked up a 1971 today. How much value does the rear belt driven pto add?
A few hundred bucks
Where do I get a nice seat like yours that fits. Mine is the original and is mostly not there (a compacted pile of rags).

Will this John Deere lift a flat blade driveway puller with its hydraulic PTO 3 point hitch?
I had a John Deere 40, sold it, stupid mistake, but looking for something with enough hydraulic lift to lift the blade
Depends how big?
