Hi. I just watched your video tonight and it has saved my gamegear. I did the repair to the trace you mentioned and the picture improved slightly. I then moved on and found another 3 vias that were faulty. The picture was then perfect. Thank you for setting me off in the right direction! 😊
I had a non working game gear that after replaced all the caps would turn off ater a second, i cleaned it all with alchool and after couple of hours i tried again and its working great now, theese old systems ate like a suprise box, you never now how its going to end, good video by the way.
hey great fix , i just recapped one today , black screen :/ i have another one that i recapped few years ago, used to work great back in the day , i havent touched it for a while and now its showing black screen again :(
Very nice of you to post this! My problem is a slight flicker in the screen. Not even constant, but very noticeable when it comes. Do you have any suggestions? I've recapped, some twice. I know, it's hard to tell of course.
@@lizard_modz Good point! I have polished up the wheel with IPA and re-solder the joints on the back. I have pretty much ruled the caps since they are brand new. So I start to think it might be a Q resistor. .. any advice much appreciated! Haha. Thanks for your feedback.
@@lizard_modz now I get what you mean! A resistor to the contrast wheel! Yes. I believe it can be something like that. Some of the Q6,7,9 or maybe even D1
Hi buddy. I have the exact some problem with mine, I uploaded a video a few days ago on my channel that shows the screen and full contrast. I replaced all caps. All traces to every lead is good, all capacitance, voltage and polarity is correct. Know what else might be wrong?
@@lizard_modz Yes i did, and your solution worked for me well, but still i have one problem with my GG maybe you could help me, i have this audio problem, the audio works very quiet and with much distortion....
@@adriansitkens6957 did you recap audio board? They ALWAYS need recapping. I never met a GG with good caps on audioboard. They might look ok but they are always bad .
@@lizard_modz Unfortunatelly i did recapped with very similar ones that were originally, my soldering skills arent legendary ;) so im gonna do this once more when ill buy capacitors with "Lega"
Hey, i got a game gear after recapping with a simular problem where screen is really dim, u barley even can see anything but the game plays. The place under the cap is intact so what do you thing its wrong with my sega? Update: the solution you talked about worked!

Hey, thanx for a comment. Lately I get only really hard cases on gg’s… badly corroded PCBs, mainly. Time makes them worse as years fly by
o meu esta a mesma coisa mas testei e tem continuidade entao nao sei o que fazer pode me ajudar?

Hey! It might be a contrast regulator resistor wheel. It degrades with time too.

Hi, you do a bridge from de + of the capacitor to q7? Regards
Hey! Yes, i do

my game gear shows squished image on the top. game plays but it is impossible to watch. How to fix? Is it chip issue?
Hey! THanx for your question
could You provide a photo or better - video of a problem?
@@lizard_modz I have already fixed the issue. there was a bad pin contact.
Works fine for me, thanks for video

i had exactly the same problem , i will try doday !
Arf dont work for me !
@@ac-wu7jq Sorry, Hope You`ll beat it finally
@@lizard_modz Yes i beat it , it was similary , i bridge the cap like you but have to bridge it with a capacitor down of the motherboard
@@ac-wu7jq Awesome
Is it commonly this cap that causes the white screen problem ?
Hey! Thanx for asking. YES, it is. And recapping usually helps right away. please dont forget to clean board from acid residue.
