The microphone was fine, the part where you think it's cutting out is where the song has a whistle note which is very hard to hear in the best of times. I share my impresions about this performance. I think his voice, incredible, is not yet totally healthy and in this song, i heared a version in a stage in his country, he did avoid try any high notes. And I think too the microphone had tecnical problems with the sound.

Poor guy had a bad microphone day this time around.Sometimes it didn't work, so his voice was disappearing. Even though, he was so desperate in this battle with this stupid microphone he handle it professionally. Applause for that! 👏👏👏
Breaking Stereotypes Yes. Unfortunately at one point the microphone just turned off. He just pulled this moment himself without a microphone.
In the second half of a song the orchestra and chorus began to sound very loudly, he had to outvoice them and even in places to become silent. I don't think that it is accident. There are high professionals. It is not the honest competition.
The microphone was fine, the part where you think it's cutting out is where the song has a whistle note which is very hard to hear in the best of times. In this performance either it was drowned out by the background music or he just couldn't hit it. Listen to his other version of this on youtube and you'll see.
