In the Dan Hurley system, McNeeley is going to bring the smoke!
Liam's a coaches dream (every coach likes to have a team so well trained that they never dribble the ball/or iso/or get caught by a double team trap, Liam helps a coach achieve that pride), even his own teammates know to constantly be watching for what he's up to--whether on fast breaks or when their offense is going stale, as he draws up plays off-ball like a point guard (and his skill set allows him to be that way), and his teammates are constantly interrupting/screening whoever is guarding him to help him gain space as he runs around.
Liam's stuck debating on driving to the rim or swinging the ball when he doesn't have enough space to catch-n-shoot 3 (which usually happens when the team has to kick it out to him when their offense goes stale), he does usually see a driving lane open (as the play that went stale has caused enough chaos in the defense) and attacks it like a lion; he's also developing a floater as he isn't always able to get close enough for the layup/dunk, eventually he will also implement slowing down his dribble to find a good pass once he has a cohesive team (which will really develop after he first fixes his floater--as to fix it he will be using contact to slow himself down and make space so that he can better square-up to the rim for an easier look).
(Liam's got a solid frame: strong lower body with shoulders that are not very wide to get in his way).
We'll see evolved Liam once competition never lets him get a catch-n-shoot off and they also collapse him from being able to drive so decisively.
He seems solid but he does look super dependent on screens leading to a catch n shoot scenario, Liam avoids shooting off the dribble to the point he will almost just drive every time he’s pushed out of a spot. Good defender, low usage scorer that will do great in college but needs more bursts and improvement on his shooting off the dribble
