That’s a great story and one for us all - shame that they don’t trigger automatic tests at certain ages to make it easy but you have to push yourself to get tested

This is an absolute must Stew. My brother in law had prostate cancer 4 years ago and after treatment was clear. Unfortunately he developed cancer again last October which was not related to the previous cancer. He sadly passed away last Tuesday. Well said for highlighting this. Take care.

Oh I am sorry for your loss and it’s shame the test isn’t prompted automatically by GPs as it’s easy to put it off - take care

Resistance training is important as you age. Very sensible to have the tests done.

Well said Stew, I was having trouble with my prostate, thankfully not cancer but enlarged, on tablets for treatment now to alleviate problem, too many men just ignore the symptoms sadly.

Well I wish you well first and foremost - I am frustrated that basic tests aren’t pushed out from Drs to get to more people as prevention will actually reduce pressures and cost on health services

All the best there, just make sure your Dr has small hands. Seriously, checkup are essential - so many of my 65yr+ mates from my Air Force days now have some form of gammy disease.

Yes lol it’s a shame the tests aren’t prompted as it would help remind people to go
      Thanks for watching

Hi Stew - my husband always had regular checkups & a high psa count resulted in Bracci Therapy - 15 years on and his count is still 0.0* something - so still looking good - we were lucky that it was caught so early on - all wives should encourage their hubbys to go - for all your sakes 🦋

A great example of catching it early and although a shame that the doctors don’t automatically test at a certain age but they don’t so you have to push
Thanks for watching and sharing your story

At our age Stew it's important to get these tests done. I'm hardly ever at the doctors but went last month for something minor. Asked for full blood count test and he checked blood pressure. I also had an ecg done. Main thing as well is to keep an eye on is blood pressure blood sugar cholesterol apart from prostate which is your main concern.

Agree I do think standard checks at say 40 should be process but we seem a long way off and it’s fine to the individual times to push
      Thanks for commenting and watching

I had some tests done after a minor illness to find I had prostate cancer so after a watch and wait for about 2 years it was necessary to have an op to remove the prostate by robotic surgery. It can change your lifestyle but at least you don't end up dying. Good to see you edited the title to remove the extra r as that describes something different altogether.

That’s another great story of action and creating that as you say gives you life - well done
Yes 😂 I realised my spelling could of ended being a whole different type of test
Thanks for sharing your story as hopefully like me it will jolt others into action

Hope all goes well with the test, very good advice. I got an high PSA result and my feet didn't touch the ground after that. Symptoms or no symptoms all blokes 50 plus should at least get the blood test.

Yes it should really be offered and chased by the doctors but unfortunately not the case do you have to drive it yourself
Thanks for watching and glad you acted fast

My brother got tested because he saw someone on tv mention they had just tested positive for prostate cancer. He had no symptoms but thought he would go and get tested. His results came back positive. With in three weeks he was in hospital undergoing major surgery. 6 months later he is fully recovered and cancer free. What would have been the outcome if he'd waited till he had symptoms? May have been to late. Get tested guys, don't wait for symptoms to show!

Brilliant story of fate and I agree get tested just wish it was automatic notification to all at a certain age but alas it’s a dream till then drive your own destiny I guess
Thanks for watching but above all a positive story

Sometimes if the level goes up it can be an infection that you can't tell that you have. Antibiotics and a second test will give you the answers. That's happened to my husband (almost 73) a couple of times. We complain about the cost of our insurance here in the US, but we can call for an appointment and get in the next day with no waiting. Then the results are on our phone within 24 hours. We all pay for healthcare, nothing is free. You just pay for it before you get your income cheque and we pay for it after.

Thanks for sharing as that’s really interesting - I know detection is not simple but I think as I understand if there is a change it’s good indication to at least seek advice - yep nothing is for free you pay it somehow and glad your healthcare is responsive
      Thanks for watching

@ALifeOfStew he gets his blood test at the urologist office so they are the one who prescribes the antibiotics and will follow up with a second blood test to see if the numbers have gone down or more needs to be checked.
Good that you are doing all the necessary tests even if they're not fun.
I enjoy watching you and Jane 🙂

Should be a yearly check for men over 40 as women have smear test and breast check . One of the biggest killers in men prostate cancer 🙏🏻

Yeah it jolted me into action hearing an off chance conversation - shame we just don’t get all these tests once you hit a certain age ….
