I remember when my mom and grandmother used to tell me and my siblings stories before we sleep, though they were Analfabet could they tell us histories that make us to be a good human and think about other people. But after both of them passed away I have never been able to listen bedtime stories, I'm 18 years now but still can't get over to listen bedtime stories, and they passed away when I was 10 years old... I know it has been long but for me it's something I really miss every single night before I go to bed, to make things easier so I come her and listen those bedtime story

today my mom criticized my hairstyle, and i just felt insecure and believed what she said. Then i listened to the part where tiny felt ugly cause she was judge by the animals, even though she was beautiful. It made me a little more confident :) i would say i look normal(more on the boyish side), but my mom wants me to look more feminine, when i change my hairstyle to what she wanted, it just doesn't fit me/my personality. So just do what makes you happy and what you think is right for you. :D
My therapist wants me to meditate every afternoon for 30 minutes. I have many meditations that I like but, lately I just haven’t gotten much out of them. So, I started listening to your sleep stories that are 30 minutes or less. It has been very helpful. I feel so much calmer and refreshed after I listen to you. This makes me fall asleep REALLY quickly
Thank you. I have been having trouble with sleep for six months. Last night I listened to you story and did not hear the ending. Fastest I have ever fallen asleep. Normally I toss and turn for a couple hours. I woke up two times during the night and started the story again. Both times I never heard the ending. I woke up virtually in the same spot of my bed. Going to try it again tonight.
My 10yo son listened to this for bedtime last night. He really enjoyed the story and said that he liked listening to "her really pretty voice". Just thought I'd pass that on. Thank you.

Oh wow, I loved this!! I've never heard the original story. As a child I loved an animated version that was made of it. I watched it again as an adult a few years ago and STILL loved it.....actually I balled my eyes out, I thought it was so lovely 😆. I really enjoyed hearing the original here, Joanne. Beautiful fairy tale story of Thumbelina. I know Hans Christian Andersen would be proud of his legacy the day he created his other fairy tales and shared them with the world. I love reading and listening to fantasy stories myself whenever I have the time. And as always, I never give up in magic or outgrow anything from my childhood. I do believe everything in stories is real, even if they are fictional. But it is really true.

This was one of my favorite stories as a child. I'm Swedish so to me it will always be named 'Tummelisa', of course 'tumme' is 'thumb'.
The amazingly beautiful pictures by the Swedish artist and also author of children's books Elsa Beskow was mesmerizing to me.
If you google Tummelisa Elsa Beskow you would find some of them, and you will understand what I mean!

You can also google only Elsa Beskow but wonderful pictures for children's books from that time when a bedtime story was a true little "saga" from old times "Once upon a time..." you know, were also painted by the artist John Bauer, trolls, fairies...
The origin to the Swedish "Santa" or "Jultomten" (jul = Yule, tomte = nowadays "Santa" but originally a type of a friendly brownie who helped taking care of the farmstead, "tomt" = "lot") was put on paper by Jenny Nyström, well worth taking a look at.
Her pictures are still among the most popular for Christmas cards, and there are many artists copying her style.

Hello and thanks for your comment. This was recorded a couple years ago and at that time I was new at recording. I have since learned more about recording audio and editing and using a de-esser etc. A remastered version of this story was recently uploaded but if you don’t find the voice calming then that’s fine too

Thumbelina was my 1st story I read as a kid from our school library and it stayed with me till date. Unfortunately I don't remember the complete story but have been searching for it as this story is parallel to my life. Thank you for this story.
