COPS TV Show, Toughest Takedowns, North Las Vegas Police Department
Officer Matt Fey of the North Las Vegas Police Department conducts a routine traffic stop on a vehicle that ran a stop sign. Officer Fey becomes suspicious of the occupants due to their nervous behavior during questioning. When the defiant driver repeatedly ignores an order to keep his hands on the steering wheel, Officer Fey is forced to spray him with mace. Surprisingly, the desperate driver escapes the officer's grasp and takes off in the vehicle. The suspects lead several units into a desert area where the driver bails out of the vehicle. He's eventually captured in some nearby brush by a swarm of officers. When asked why he ran, the driver says that he was recently released from prison and did not have a license. He's charged with felony evading, resisting arrest and possible drug possession. The passenger admits to steering the vehicle for the blind driver for fear of his life. He's charged with obstructing and evading.

@infinitecanadian ya the people that usually bash cops are the ones that have a beef with them. Meaning they themselves have committed a crime or have a friend or relative that has. Cops are always the bad guys people say. Funny to read the comments of how the officer was pointing his gun at him and kept saying put your other hand where I can see it. He was doing that because he did not know if he was going for a gun idiots. This cop is well trained. He asked him countless times to put the hand where he could see it, he knew what the guy was going to do before he even did it and that was drive off, so he tried to dissuade him by using pepper spray. This black dude was an idiot.
Well said that's pretty much what I wanted say for all of the it's always the cops fault comments, cops only use force to protect themselves and the person, suspect,or people. People think that the the protection is only for the cops but cops never want people to get hurt, their job is to protect and if people resist arrest it could get out of hand.
The Dayz Wolf There was only one person in the video being violent and belligerent. That was the cop.
hjf3022
Dude, why you chiming in on the cop bashers!? There are plenty of innocent people who Bash cops and are not criminals nor have relatives that are criminals. There are legitimate reasons for people to have issues against the police, and many of these people are innocent.
Regarding the take down, yea your right. The guy was acting really outrageous, and he COULD have had a gun near him. The cop actually held a lot of restraint against this guy.
But I just want to emphasis that there are legitimate grievences against the police. I think its ignorant and arrogant for you to label cop bashers as criminals or relatives of criminals. A lot of innocents are abused, violated etc by the police, and you cannot deny this fact.
The Dayz Wolf
Sorry but thats not 100 percent true, its actually incorrect.

He aimed a gun at him, and had enough control not to fire, knew that the situation would escalate and instead of using his firearm he used his pepper spray. Job well done in my opinion.

Exactly! people think officers use "too much" force when really all there doing is protecting themselves. They need to get home to there families at night safely.
It's a special breed to be a police officer hats off
lol this cop KNEW something was up. On alert the entire time! Plus, coming from a police family, he has probably learned a TON. Would not be surprised if he is a Lt. or something by now!
Driver was an idiot. Assuming the car wasn't stolen and he actually had a license, if he had kept his hands on the steering wheel, he would have gotten his ticket and/or warning, and that would be the end of it.
NOT keeping your hands on the steering wheel (especially when asked) is a sure way to get a closer investigation by the cops.
Why do they always think they can get away?
You're not alone on that. I wonder too. In the United States especially, chances of evading arrest are near zero. In this guy's case, he was extremely lucky that he wasn't faced with a trigger-happy cop. Despite his giving the cop a reason to shoot him, he didn't shoot. A good number of American citizens are armed and very dangerous. Every now and then, one cop gets shot and killed because he hesitates to shoot the bad guy first when he gives him every reason to be the first to pull the trigger.
Felix Julian
The fantastic thing about America is that it is covered in city. That gives people less room to run.
What surprises me more is that they cannot get away. Many of the cops do not seem overly athletic yet I see young, in shape black guys getting ran down by cops on foot. Then again, they only show the clips where they catch the suspect. For every encounter that ends up on television there are probably a number of encounters where the suspect gets away. I agree with the other two guys though, it is very hard to get away being that the cops are in contact with each other and swarm on them. My one issue with this show is that it typically shows officers on they're best behavior while in typical encounters with no media watching many cops abuse they're authority and abuse civil rights. One of the things accomplished by the show is swaying public opinion to bring citizens on the side of the cops. Television is a very powerful tool and if desired it can be used to start w...

I am so glad I found this channel I've watched so many videos from this channel today man I miss this show so much a lot of us grew up with the show cops oh the memories!!!!!!
Hey dummy there's a whole brand new season of cops it's on the fox app
so unless the first car went through a stop sign before the video started there was no reason to stop them. it made a complete stop at that sign.
they can also choose to pull over in a location that they feel is safe and appropriate.
The rule is you have to come to a complete stop BEFORE the stop sign, check for pedestrians and then you usually can usually pull up to see traffic better.
The very front of your bumper must stop BEFORE or in line with the sign. stopping beyond the sign is running a stop sign.
However, He fails to stop at a prior stop sign as the cop says in the video.
it was a rolling stop i know in VA its like stop count to 3 and go that wasnt even a COMPLETE stop ya know and if it was it was a VERY short stop
The stop sign we got to see was at Stocker & Owens. The stop sign they ran was at Stocker & Webb [a left turn one block away, FYI].
No way that dude can still see. That Mace can was in his eye socket! 😂
Cop tells you to keep your other hand on the steering wheel and you don't comply, it's a good way to get shot. Dumbass punks always think they can get away too.
Yeah, this cop was a wimp; he could not get the guy to comply; that driver could have found ten guns with the time he spent fishing around.
I'd have probably shot him after awhile. Just say "You don't stop fishing around, I'm going to shoot you" fishes around again, boom.
Hayden Lindquist I'd have probably done something similar, maybe stuck my gun in his ear or hit him in the face with my gun to let him know he's toying with his life by threatening a cop with a possible weapon by not complying. Any noncompliance like this is NOT innocent.
Dexter Haven Yeah, you can't arbitrarily decide when to shoot just because you issued a command that was ignored. Maybe it's happened in the past, and probably some cops have gotten away with it too, but I guarantee that this cop would've been in serious trouble if he shot him here. Not to mention, the cop was aware that the man was searching for drugs, and having the guy's arm torqued around the door like that was incapacitating enough for the cop to keep the man under control until backup arrived.
Why talk when you are ignorant on the subject? If a police officer tells you to keep your hands on the steering wheel and keep your hands where he can see him and you lower your hands out of his/her vision, the officer is 100% justified to interpret that as reaching for a weapon and shoot/kill you. It's happened many times and when it goes to court the officer is found innocent.

Why is it so hard for these 'thugs' to do what the officer tells them to do, accept the ticket and enjoy the rest of their evening?
stringypond53 he most likely had drugs in his hand that he didnt want to the officer to see, probably on some type of drugs himself due to his behavior
if that was the case then they'd need to be seriously lacking in common sense to resist as they did, however they probably had something in the car they didn't want the officers to find and thought it made more sense to try and escape
+stringypond53 Watch the video again at 1:50. You'll hear the officer say that he sees the guy with drugs in his hand. That's why this guy started acting the way he did because he knew he was in trouble. He only just would've gotten a ticket if he had a very small amount of marijuana, but I highly doubt it.
+stringypond53 Because they're thugs. Probably had drugs, weapons and warrants as per the usual and didn't want to get booked in.
+stringypond53 Well we can only try to understand why it happened. Given that I for example had been in the same situation and had drugs hidden in the car, I would have been very stressed and probably found it hard to obey simple orders. The gun only makes the situation more stressful. Of course it was necessary to pull the gun, as the person might have had a gun hidden. The cop worked well.
Some officers really have alot of Patience.
I would have broke that driver's arm after telling him to put his hands where they are visible and stop moving around more than couple times. This officer had much more patience than I would have. The unfortunate thing is that this officer's patience resulted in a dangerous vehicle chase and foot pursuit.
And that's why you shouldn't be a police officer, you'd be WAITING to pull that trigger😭

That suspect was all over the place telegraphing pre-assault indicators, and the Officer sensed it, hence gun drawn ready. The guy looked like he was reaching for a weapon, had brought out anything in his hand like any threatening looking object, he wouldve been dead. The Officer gave him a second chance with the spray.
Honestly if this cop shot him, it would've been justified. I don't think any level headed person would've blamed the cop for getting trigger happy on a black man. That guy was moving his hand out of sight way too much, especially after the cop repeated himself so many times.
Or maybe he just didn't shoot him cause the camera was there..

+eargASMR I agree with you. In a situation where someone is as twitchy as these two are---and it doesn't matter if they are white or black, if they are suspicious and reaching around you don't know if they are going to shoot you, so failure to listen or comply would be a justifyable reason to act first.
Always, always listen when a police officer has a gun pointed at you, and tells you to do something. Acting suspicious and failing to do as they say will get you killed because they don't want you to kill them for wearing the uniform.
Sad, but true. It's not "retarded" to not want to get shot yourself, not knowing the motive for someone moving their hands around and acting nervous.
Did it? Even though I addressed it wasn't a race thing?... Rootus Reddus

And they'll usually give you a break on the charges instead of stacking up everything they can. This guy is screwed when they catch up with him again. He's doing tall time on this one.
@@Skank_and_Gutterboy cap y’all are goody goodies
You Americans have the best and most professional cops in the world! These police officers do such a dangerous job every day to protect you good citizens! You should give them more respect! And forget the stupid idea of "Defund the police!" You need them! Only criminals or stupid woke kids can really want that! Without your brave and courageous cops who risk their lives every day, total anarchy would reign across the country within a few days!
Good cop.
once a cop has you pulled over, the chances of concealing something from him, or driving away and escaping are so small, you might as well cooperate with them. The guy had a fucking gun pointed at his face and he still pulls this shit. But then again if he shot the guy he would be labeled as a murderer, and then people would yell that black lives matter. At the end of the day a lot of them are criminals, and they yell about police violence because they don't want to be arrested for their illegal activity. Do you see cops killing innocent black people? It is ones like this that get shot because they are fucking criminals.
"PUT YOUR HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM"
"DAMN OK" :proceeds to put right hand out of sight
Bruh that guy was making me so nervous. Could only imagine what the cop was thinking . I was just waiting for the suspect to pull a gun.
The cops had every right to pepper spray him, the cop told him again and again to put his hands where he could see them while he keeps hiding his hands and moving his hands around, reaching into his pocket was the last straw, the cop doesn't know what's going to happen, he or the passenger could pull out a weapon or drive off (like they DID).
I laugh when the big tough man screams while talking hahaha
that driver was fuckin' hard headed. lol
Cop said( we got everybody) they're wasn't but 2 people ..lol
LOVE THE COPS KEEP ON DOING WHAT YOU GUYS DOING GOOD JOB SOMETIMES PEOPLE NEED THAT PEPPER SPRAY ON THEM THEY DONT LISTEN TO THEM
